So many people talk about bugging out as though it is the solution. No one seems to talk about the dangers associated with bugging out. Other people are not going to just welcome you, a stranger, to their farm or home. The chances of getting injured or killed will increase substantially when you bug out. You are leaving your food, water and shelter behind to go out into the unknown with very little. I believe that bugging out should be the last thing someone plans to do if all else fails.

Hi guy's, I had my eyes opened, when I found the prepping Community on UA-cam two months ago. I had written my lists as you suggested and started putting food and water to store away. My family and children are not nearby. My friends, laugh and mock me, when I try to explain what's happening. I'm from the UK and on a tight monthly budget, raising my granddaughter (5yrs). I'm unable to bug out, my health just says "No". I would like to say a big thank you for the ideas, tips, support and advice, you guys have given me as I start my new journey. I wish more people would listen. God bless.

He would only have 1 week of any type of supplies if he had it his way. I am kicking myself for not learning this long ago. (I am 44 & in Orlando, FL.) I watch your videos daily and make so many notes and lists. Thank you so much for your calm matter of fact manner.

We raised our kids playing hide and go seek in the house completely dark, no lights. They learned to maneuver through our home, walking or crawling around with no lights on trying to find everyone else. It was our fire drills/intruder drill training. They knew where furniture was, exterior doors etc. They could get to their "safe" spots or outside in literally seconds. They now do that with their children. It was so much fun teaching them this way.

Can't tell you how many times I have been in a chat and someone said - "Oh I bought such and such and did not realize I already had it", cause it was purchased and buried under other items and they just forgot they had gotten it.

We’ve been prepping for about 5 years now - using a working pantry and following the gray man approach, not letting friends or neighbors know we prep. We have a little more than a 1 ½ years of supplies (food, water, medical, etc..) for a family of 4 using canning/dehydrators to extend shelf life- as well as many ways to heat/cook (butane, propane, natural gas, wood and alcohol). We have seeds and tools if/when our supply runs out as well sufficient weapons/ammo to protect our investments. We continuously work to learn new skills and/or find gaps in our prepping to have contingency within contingency plans. It’s become a way of life that I hope is never tested, but we always plan for the worst case scenario

I have an important question. Where do you draw the line on gathering people? Everyone has loved and important people in their lives that they feel an obligation to take in a bug out situation. I have a lot of food and supplies, however, most people won't be bringing anything to the table except hungry mouths. If I say take one of my friends with me, they'll say hey, what about my family? We need to take them too! Then those family members will want to take their loved ones and on down the line it goes. Where do you draw the line without being a "lone wolf"? This topic may be good for a video.

The best home defense is to secure one's home to keep intruders out. Once someone gets inside the chances of serious injury or death increase exponentially.
The use of force against an intruder brings the risk of prosecution by various criminal justice systems, many of which now seem to protect violent criminals instead of peaceful citizens.
A relative who runs a business in which he meets many police officers told me what advice they gave him when he obtained a firearms license.
They explained that the best defense is to keep criminals out of his home and never need to use the gun.
If he does need to use it against a criminal, they told him that if the intruder survives he can be certain that the intruder will claim that he or she put his or her hands up, said "Don't shoot!", and the homeowner shot anyway.
Then one to two long and very costly trials will ensue. Possibly a criminal trial against the homeowner and definitely a civil trial against him or her; legal defense for each will cost $50,000 or more.
Unfortunately, criminals know how to manipulate the criminal justice system, to make themselves appear less guilty and law abiding citizens more guilty.

I've been watching your videos for quite a while and have learned so, so much. Honestly, I never thought "bad times" would happen. Now I'm more and more prepared. Lists!! I'm a big lister. I make lists for everything. This situation is no exception. I'd never heard of bugging out or in. Now I know because of your channel. As far as training, practicing? If you don't know how to train, then what? I lived in the country. You're so right. Hauling hay and water. One winter everything froze. The well house and it was insulated very well. We had to haul water from 20 miles away in 50 gallon barrels. Most of it went to the animals. I've washed my hair in clean water troughs. In fact as hard as it was, I miss it. Now I'm a little too old to do it alone.:(

I have always been prepared for the naturally recurring seasonal severe weather events where I live in New England (Hurricanes, Nor'easters, Blizzards, Wind Storms, Ice Storms, Power Outages, ...). Supplies lasting from 3 days up to 2 weeks are plenty. More recently (in the past 10 years) I've built up enough food, med supplies, off grid survival tools, etc. for about a year just for peace of mind if there's a long haul. But I'm 72 so I don't prep for extinction level events (comets & asteroid impacts, mutual nuclear destruction, zombie apocalypse, alien invasions, ...). Abandoning my home and bugging out is not a viable option for me but I do keep an "emergency bag" in my car if an evacuation is ever required or the more likely crisis of getting stuck on the road over night. No guns either, hunting was never my thing and it's just me so I don't have a family to protect. I practice consuming less, wasting nothing and conserving everything. My mantra is "you have to adapt". Keeping It Simple, Real and Doable.
I enjoy your channel, feels like a fresh look and the nuclear series was excellent, best I've seen! Thx.

Hi Eric and Ashley, great advice! We have many medical items and have practiced with them but they are only First Aid...it gets us to stop the bleeding, or air to the lungs, etc. but it's what comes next that we are trying to practice now. Like, once we get the initial problem taken care of we have to be able to prevent the injury from getting infected and help the healing so we have been watching medical videos on what would take place at a hospital after we initially stabilized the patient. And if there is no hospital to take them too you have to do it yourself. It's pretty intense to try to save a limb, or sew a collapsed lung when you are not the medical professional, but it can be accomplished if you know what you are looking at. I find this part of prepping the hardest even though I've been prepping since 2012 I understand what I need, how to use the items, grow a garden, put up food, and security...but the medical, this one is a big one. Love to you all, hugs to the kids! :)

Don’t worry about it. Just keep doing what you are doing. I think letting people know is like an invitation foe them to come raid your supplies when they panic when things are bad and they are unprepared. Tell me what they’re talking about with me if you have a sibling or a very close friend or family member will you completely trust him and they were completely prepared as well and you wanted to go fishing or process a cow together or practice slingshot or bow and arrow or something like that but I would kick your supplies and your hard work completely secret if it all possible. If you look at the last two years with the looting in the fires and stuff people didn’t care about anything but themselves and they just take take. So with the exception of a very small close knit group that you totally trust etc. I understand community and how you can’t do everything yourself but I would still be very guarded about that particular subject. Can you just start inviting strangers or people will take her like why do you situate you unless they have their own preps you’ll be feeding all of them as well. I am all for being Christian and sharing and helping others but I do this to protect my family and if I told all my friends that I care about who choose not to prepare I couldn’t possibly feed my own family much less all there’s

Yesterday we had a little extra money so..... We went to go get more supplies. I struck gold. I got a case of can chicken breast for $27.00. That is $2.25 a can. Around here it is $4-$5.00 a can. My hubby looked at me like I had lost my mind. But he grabbed it. I really want to learn to snare. There are alot of rabbits around me. I'm not strong enough to hold let alone pull trigger anymore.

Yes, when you live in the south, you still need to wear protective clothing. You avoid the heat of the day. You work early morning and late evening (although I’ll tell you 10pm in a Texas summer is still 90s) - you rest in the heat of the day. Of course modern schedules and a/c cause people to do differently, but that’s the best way.

A person with a title such as Doctor or Nurse does not mean they are the one to call for a medical emergency 🚨. I say this because a title doesn’t mean someone has the skill!
All Care Facilities, Clinics Hospitals etc…… have monthly drills yearly classes for certification, but not everyone in this profession has the experience!!! I personally worked in this field for 10 years and was the first one on seen for a code blue only 3 times. If it wasn’t for the required, continental classes for recertification, drills and training for CPR there would be less lives saved each year! I totally agree with you about EMT’s Firefighters and would add Police Officers probably have the most experience in life saving skills than most people!!!
And encourage everyone to sign up and take CPR and first aide classes in your area.
Some Cities and most Counties have classes available or can direct you to up coming classes
In your area. Red Cross is also a source of information on available classes.

Completely disagree about joining a community if you are single. Unless it is immediate family that has proven themselves to consider you as an individual to be just as deserving of life as their family or unless it is a single community. You as a single person will be viewed as nothing more than SOMETHING to use in order to help their family. If it’s one of these “I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my family” types RUN!

    • @stillwatersfarm8499
      @stillwatersfarm8499 2 роки тому

It goes both ways. People see a successful family and want to get in on that. I think there are cultural differences in how people feel about community. People from “Greater Appalachia” tend to view family as the greater social unit rather than a peer group. Rural people don’t tend to see lots of people around as a good situation.

Getting into shape can be as easy as walking the steps more. I am 77, and I can get up the basement steps in 6 seconds. I try to practice balance, and strength training. You can't bug in or out, if you are a couch potato, plain and simple. It takes a bit of work. BUT, it can be amazingly fast. If you've ever had a hospital stay, you will remember how weak you were the first days of recuperation, but just a few days of walking, and getting back to exercising all those weakened muscles, was enough to show improvement. Staying active is the key to how you will respond to emergencies.

I love what you share and your knowledge and experience but hanging fliers at the library and advertising on craigs list to me is super dangerous and inviting possible ruin and harm to your own family. If people don’t have their own preps and you start advertising around then people will know that you have supplies and it makes yourself a target to people coming to steal it when they run out of food and panic just like looting and worse. In regards community if you have close friends and family were also preparing and you can all hunkered down at someone’s property and work together on different projects that’s great but if you’re turning to craigslist and flyers at the library in my opinion you’re going to be attracting strangers. And even if you think they’re like minded there’s a lot of people out there who just want to ride on the coattails of your hard work and find out about your stash and everything like that so as much as I love your content I think that piece of it is not the best way to find community end not the wisest advice. I live in a really small real community there’s no way I would ever have a flyer I want to keep things private and find the right people through building relationships.

What got me to start into martial arts (something I had wanted to do as a kid) was the idea "In a year, if I don't do anything, I'll be a year older. Or I can start trying stuff now, and have a year's worth of practice to go along with my year older." And I started martial arts with someone who fully supports adult beginners. I started relearning about gardening. I got my CCL. I started doing all of those things I had thought about doing, but hadn't actually done anything about.
Practice all the things. Do all the things, but not all at once. Becoming self-sufficient with one thing is better than none. Start small and build.

And think of your preps in groups having levels [with sublevels]. Because bags/(containers) containing levels of units can be components of larger bags/(storage areas). You can work your way up the levels over time.
Beginning level is just FEMA preparedness for the common occurrences in your area. Next level is old fashion habits of rural areas. ... [Not many need to try for the highest level.]
Yes, you don't know how to do something until you can show you can do that thing. The level of doing that thing which you need in an emergency is a much higher skill level.
Too many families don't have a plan that each member understand. --
You hear tragedies where there was a fire. Half the family went out front. Others went elsewhere. A parent ran back in to save a child who wasn't with them. The parent died in the fire.
