      You have people that have said Fuji lens isn’t sharp…. I’ve seen others say it is. Then people take the word of a select few and recite it as gospel. I wonder if settings have something to do with it. I haven’t canceled my preorder because of it…

    I am a former Fuji shooter and know all about the Fuji colors. I had a chance to shoot with the GRIIIX for a few hours and I am blown away by the vibrant colors and the insanely sharp lens. I loved the experience of shooting with the GRIIIX. So what is the catch and there is alway one or two? The battery life is way too short. So you have to bring at least 3-4 extra batteries for a day long shoot. Otherwise, it is a total winner for street photography. It looks like a point-n-shoot camera from a few years ago. Most people did not mind me photographing them with a "toy" camera!!!

    One thing I will say, and take this with a grain of salt because I'm a noob ie, is after a year of learning how to use the Ricoh gr3x, I am in love with the pictures I get. They are starting to glow. I'm finding I enjoy shooting with it more than my S5ii, even. There is just a pop, glow, and really cool colors that I can get with the different recipes. It took me a long time to find my groove, but when I found it I'm so grateful

    As a Fuji shooter i know for a fact the GR3 can resolve the image better on its sensor compared to the X100V and X100VI since they share the exact same 23mm lens Version 2. From a one size built in everything i think the Fuji cam is better with the advantage of the flash. However the Ricoh GR is truly a street photography compact camera. I compared hundreds of images between both systems and the RicohGR Lens truly outclasses the X100VI by quiet a bit and i think thats one thing im highly disappointed with Fuji this time around. Fuji had years of trials and errors to match and exceed the crispy images the ricoh produces. Now why does it matter if you are just going slap on a filter and film simulator? Because you want to start off with the highest of image quality and sharpness before you start to "dehance" your image. You don't want the image to be already soft and continue to dehance it. The looks, the color science, film emulations and accessories and 40mp sensor makes the X100VI truly a monster of a camera, but when it comes to compact size and image quality i think the GR3 gives it a run for its money. Either way i would take both cameras in the heartbeat competition pushes innovation and i love this type of stuff because consumers benefit. However not trying to be mean, i think the X100VI images look way better in this comparison. I dont think the presets fitted well on this video. Either way much love and hope you guys continue to go out and shoot.

    Love the X100VI and it’s a pleasure to use. I can see how having a Ricoh GRIIIx in my jacket pockets at all times could be really useful though as a complement. The X100VI isn’t really pocketable.

    Both with Portra 800 recipe, not sure why, but the Ricoh wins easily since the Fuji is jacking up the warm tones to be over saturated or strong.

    Finally, I've been waiting for this comparison for a very long time. Comparisons with the fifth series were far from in her favor, but maybe in the sixth series Fujifilm had a good camera, in the fifth version there was a very soapy picture, GR3X just tore apart in terms of picture quality. Although even if Fujii wins this comparison, one of the engineers hinted that the 4 series GR will be very soon.

    I find both cameras outstanding. I wish the Ricoh GRIIIx could AF better (faster) in lower light and not miss shots. Maybe Ricoh GRIV and not a Ricoh GRIIIx HF Filter edition.

    I am struggling to understand... if you were lucky to have had the right equipment and the right settings, how come two out of the three photos you took of the monk and kneeling woman failed? Were you just 'lucky', and that's that? I enjoy using both Fuji and Ricoh, so there is nothing biased here, just an amateur trying to understand how to take better photos 😊

      The trick to getting good photos is to set the shutter button to drive mode and click as many pictures in a second as possible. The dirty secret of "pro" photography is that they delete more pictures than they keep.

    For me the X100 just makes me want to grab the camera and take pictures. I had a full Sony kit but I started to dislike dragging it all along - I also didn't enjoy using them as much as I do with the Fuji.. even though the Sony was a much better camera really. I also really liked the X-E4 though, hopefully X-E5 with ibis some day.

    • @MrRafalEn
      @MrRafalEn 6 місяців тому

      Damn I am at this point where I start to question my decision of selling Fuji X-E3 + XF 35 f1.4 for Canon R8 + RF 35 f1.8. Canon image quality, grip, autofocus, fully touch lcd and so on are so much better but I miss my small Fuji, colors that it produces, aperture rings and metal built of lenses. I might really go back and if Fuji releases X-E5 with IBIS it will seal the deal for me.

    • @LUITESLIFE
      @LUITESLIFE 6 місяців тому

      @@MrRafalEnI think there are better options than the R8 personally (not that it's a bad camera, far from it). If you want grip and auto focus.. yet you like fuji colors the x-s20 is also a great option, or xt5? Though I loved the x-e line too, an x-e5 with x-s20 internals would be perfect.

    That photo you captured in the beginning is awesome. Im lookin at the Ricoh griiix since ive been going on more runs and getting into trail running and exploring more for health. I want another pocketable camera that I can always have on me. I had a griii in the past and liked it but found it just to be too wide for me after awhile. from reviewing a lot of raw files from both and not sure if it is my eyes but I think the Ricoh files are sharper and prefer the color science more than the fuji. The fuji film settings are nice and do like the look. But something about the Ricoh files. I downloaded raws and edited them to play with from the Ricoh griiix. And wow, Stunning.

    Your explanation behind possibly not being able to have captured that shot with the X100VI doesn’t make sense.
    If I’m walking ANYWHERE while on holiday my camera is not only around my shoulder/neck. It’s set up really to shoot at f8 or your preferred aperture. It’s most likely already on only needing to be woke up.
    The final shot you got would have been at double the mega pixels of your Richo giving you either the ability to print much larger or crop with significantly more data to work with.

    • @Jay_Ducker
      @Jay_Ducker  6 місяців тому +4

      That’s you not me. I was on my way to a coffee shop with no intention of taking any photos. The Ricoh was just sat in my pocket and I was able to grab the shot without delving through my bag. You may keep it round your neck all day but I don’t.

      @@Jay_DuckerThat is me too. I am debating between these cameras as well and tried a GRIII for a few days recently. I carry my Canon 5D MkIV about everywhere when traveling, but in public transportation, going to dinner, or often at night, the GRIII seems like a great companion that is more easily accessible. I cannot easily carry both the Fuji and Canon. Such a tough decision. Then there is 28 vs 40 for the Ricoh desision. I love tighter travel shots, but when out with my dog or photographing people on a sidewalk, that 28 seems more useful.

    • @Kids11111

      I don't see the appeal of more megapixels with a softer image. I much prefer the sharpness of the GRiii, and the colour science too. The colours are so much more Leica-like on the Ricoh.

      @@danwoodliefphotography871 The Ricoh does not have a flash. Something to consider if carrying out to dinner.
      And definitely get the 28mm for dinner shots. 40mm struggles to capture the entire table when shooting seated at it.
