If kids can break it, the wood mustn't be that tough.
I don't get the point in this? What purpose does it serve demonstrating you can break some boards? I also think it's abit of a cheat to be using pencils as spacers in the stacks. I'd be impressed if they were able to break 5-6 stacked boards without the spacing.
Some of these boards are not the thickness that traditional schools break with, nor is it the yellow pine that we use.
Jason Potoski yea, some of it is rather thin, not what my school uses.
For all the people saying this is fake, I'm 14 and do taekwon-do, my class had belt testing today and the green stripes (third belt after white) some of whom are even younger than I am, could fairly easily break three stacked boards without spacers, so I feel that adults some of which being high belt levels can do this without it being fake.

It’s somewhat fake. When masters hold the board, they put pressure on the board, making it easier to break.
My thinking is that if a toddler can break them, then those boards must not be that tough. I’ve seen real martial artists break cinder blocks and 2x4s with their hands and legs, now that is real breaking

The wood seems extremly brittle, is it baked before use or something?
Loved the stepping sidekick to the slabs but some of the other concrete looked a bit soft. (the black lass at 5:47, the bloke with the head thing at 6:02 - almost no impact at all there).
Something funny going on.
And the downward elbow section at the end:- get rid of the spacers - then i'd be impressed.
IndiaRubber Man the wood is just wood, the concrete is the same used in construction. Can you post some videos of you breaking?

karatevideoguy 6:02/6:03 in the video explain to me how CONCRETE breaks with a little impact like that, he just bounced on his toes and his head moved upwards (no movement is possible using the neck muscles) and BAMMO - IT BROKE!! (If you stop the video in the right place you can see it breaks on the way up as it's supposed to) so how much force per square inch does that concrete require to break, 1 or 2 pounds?
As i said SOME of the breaking was good lots of power and thick peices of concrete but some of it was lame.
Scallops--the longer bricks with rounded edges--are much easier to break than the concrete patio blocks you see in other breaks. The break at 6:02 is easy as long as he jumps fast enough. Seth--the guy doing it--is one of the bedt breakers out there when he doesn't go for theatrics.
+karatevideoguy To say that the wood in the videos is "just wood" is total BS and you know it!. Why would you make such a ridiculously disingenuous claim? The wood used in breaking demos like this is cut across the grain rather than with the grain. That's why it always breaks with a clean split rather than splintering. Everything you'd buy at a hardware store or a lumber yard is cut with the grain making it MUCH, MUCH stronger. There are some guys who break standard 2x4's but they almost always use a frame to hold them rather than people because the impact forces are so much larger, and they don't try to break boards that are less than a foot long like what you see in this video. But just to answer your question: yes these are kiln dried boards (so are regular construction grade boards), but it's the cross grain cut that makes them so easily broken.

IfYouWoosh MeYouAreGay most styles are effective. Tae Kwon Do is, Bushido Kai is; if you’re more of a ground person, try Judo or BJJ. They all have their purposes.

I am not an expert. but this is pretty mych for the show. There is only couple of these brakings that i raise my hat on. These braking stuff whit you fingertips needs practise no matter what you hit. and if the sword was real the apple kick could have painfull outcome whithout training. whit a dummy sword its only show as you cant really hurt your self.. i walue braking as a Budo spirited test of strenght whit the respect that the martial arts need. Not a yealling running notrespectfull swinging that this mostly is. This might be entertainig to look if you have not practised but if you do this is not the way to express the strenght of these movements. and yeah. some of these hits.. :) omg.

This is the kind of stuff that gives traditional breaking and martial arts a bad name. Paper thin boards and a big ego can make anyone think they are a master. The technique is terrible, the girl screaming at 0:22 is an obnoxious disgrace to the humility of martial arts (so is everyone else that acts like a disrespectful idiot in this video, but she was the first one that came to mind), and the bricks are so obviously baked that no respectable competitor or practitioner should give any credence to this. The only thing that cracks me up is when the the big breakers look surprised that their "technique" (believe me, they have none) didn't work on all the boards/blocks.
And 6:02 is just bullshit. That's all the proof of deception you need right there.
Ok then, let's see you break 10 of these "baked" bricks. I'll be laughing.
And also, if you were even a real martial artist, (I don't believe you are) then you would have learned respect, FOR EVERYONE, not only yourself and other people of your style, and since you speak of humility, why did you state your incredibly antagonizing opinion on a video of which you have no respect. well mcdojo just went up a level by having a "chamionship" event. it shows how stupid this event is when the black belts breaking several boards think they are doing really well, when a kid comes along has letting to no effort with only 1 and 2 or even 3 boards.
Someone please tell those kids that they suck before they try to fight someone for real and get slapped around. That would be an irreparable trauma to a child's psyche.

What triggers me most is not the fact that their movements don't involve any form of technique or the fact that I could break these boards with a boner, it is how after they hit the paper thin boards they go and start a fucking fiesta. (Not all of them, but there are some major culprits)
