But yeah it was a lot about how the entire Team Seven was build specifically to appeal to PR. Starlight was chosen because she was pretty and could get the Christian demographic unboard and then they needed to sex her up.
A-Train was legit picked as black representation and they hid all of his drug abuse AND how he randomly killed someone innocent just because it'll look bad on PR.
Maive was not allowed to show she had a relationship with a woman UNTIL gay rights became popular and now it needed to be ALL over the news because it's trendy now.
The deep was caught in a Sexual scandal and he was kicked out even though EVERYBODY in the office building did the exact same thing, it's just he could be the scape goat so yeah... It was pretty darn good satire.

The first thing that turned me off from this 4th season was; “when did Kimiko and Frenchie break up”. Kimiko and Frenchie were such a cute couple. If you've been following anything that Eric Kripke does, you kind of already know which way he leans politically going into this. If you're choosing now to not watch the show, you were probably never a fan into begin with. Long story short, yes, folks some things are woke, but not EVERYTHING is woke.

yeah the starlight abortion really bugs me .. the fact it happened "off screen" . it down plays how important of a decision it was , but then the drama over firecracker blasted it on tv , tries to make it a bigger issue some how ,... it jsut makes the whole thing seemed forced.
I always believe Starlight was supposed to be better than that. A superhero better than supes who only cared about their image and popularity than being true heroes. Starlight having a abortion turns her away from being a hero. A real hero would never put themselves above others.
Production companies go woke because they're seeking to take advantage of investors who are guided by the principles of ESG. If the producers were trying to make a profit by pleasing audiences, they'd do the things that draw audiences.

The problem with having a character being known as the smartest person on the planet is that the writers have to come up with situations that only the smartest person on the planet could resolve. Batman they generally do an okay job in the comics. I it's passable in the animated series. Same for Superman. But can you imagine a woke writer actually coming up with these kind of scenarios. These people are not the brightest bulbs in the box. The only way they can come up with something is to just tell you five times and hope you're smart enough to figure it out.
The good thins about Frenchie in the comic, is that (as far as I interpreted it) He has a father daughter relation with the female. I rather that over the romance.

The boys has always been woke but my Goodness its upgraded to 100000x. Episode 1-3 was Super Woke I was also bored and felt like something was being forced like a agenda. Episode 4 was by far the best and it wasnt close.
Homelander, the Deep, Sister Sage, and Butcher are all portrayed as bad guys but are either the only competent and/or funny characters. The Deep and Sister Sage together is the healthiest relationship on the show. Starlight is the worst, she’s the human encapsulation of Vaught the corporation, just a mess.

I think the only reason I'll keep watching is to see what happens with Hughies father after recieving the dose of V. The plot twist of the mother giving him the dose was interesting. I agree with others here that making Frenchie gay was a horrible move and jarring after the first three seasons with Kimiko.
As someone who has read the comics in their entirety, I don't expect them to follow the source material to the letter, but a lot of what they've done has just been eye rollingly bad. The relationship with Frenchie and The Female (that's what she's called in the comics, not Kimiko) was never even remotely romantic. They're more like brother and sister. The politcal stuff was a lot more subtle in the comics too. The way it's done here, with it just in your face, just shows how lazy the writers are with it. It's become a show that I put on for background noise while I play around on my phone.

I’ll give you Frenchie, but Firecracker is actually really good. Her answer about giving her fans purpose gave me goose bumps. And as much as I do like Starlight, their confrontation was just gut wrenching, I almost instantly began to root for Firecracker to get her revenge. I wasn’t even mad when she outed Starlight, as I think she deserved more.
It started near the end of season 2. I tuned out then.

I had been avoiding it figuring it was going to be Star Wars/Marvel level of 'Diverse and Feminized' so I would wait to hear some feedback.
Then today in my Amazon feed I got an ad featuring a woman of color and a female Homelander and knew my instincts had been right, thanks for confirming the writing has devolved.
It's trying real hard to be self aware. Its failure is fascinating.
I typically don't care for the woke stuff. I mean I can see what people mean about some aspects this season but I never really felt this was a "woke" show like say the acolyte. I felt like it's satire of the modern age

This is a terrible take. The show is exactly what it has been since day one. Nothing new or different about how it handles all topics or views.

Summed it up perfectly. I managed the first three episodes before I said enough. It's become unwatchable now. Near enough every single scene so far this season, something is happening. Wether its a homosexual scene, left vs right, patriots are fascists and evil blah blah blah. The guy who made the show said if you don't like it, don't watch. Well that's exactly what I'm doing. The only saving grace is the storyline with Butcher and Homelander, but its not enough to make me wanna sit through all the woke BS they've crammed into it. Before I was able to roll my eyes and take it with a pinch of salt but now it's relentless.
I like that the problem with Frenchie ISN'T that he murdered an entire family.. but ohhhh nooo he didn't date the asian girl who friend-zoned him a season ago..
Yeah the strangeness of him sleeping with the surviving member of a family he murdered is so very bizarre. But of course everyone is taken aback because it's a dude. I always found it strange pro trumpers even liked this show to begin with.
Hearing the supremacy talk and seeing the Desantis sign in the back of the facists podcast was about as suble as a brick to the face. Then there two gay guys face -fucking- hugging in the middle of a riot.

If she thinks Homelander wasn't the bad guy until now, she hasn't been paying attention. Yeah he's awesome, but that's just because he's a great villain but he has been a villain since episode 1, literally. As a pretty big fan of the show, I can say the woke creeped in at first with the spin-off show.

It's funny because the exact opposite happened with the comics. I was interested in reading the comics, so I read some reviews online. A lot of left-wing/woke people were saying the comics were too macho, offensive, and non-inclusive. I bought the whole series and haven't even read them yet. LOL
