    Frank's point about teens liking high contrast themes like babies liking high contrast visuals is so spot on. Hahaha, we all had just logged on emotionally and found Terry jangling his ideals at us.
    Great episode! Keep em coming!

      Thank you SO much!! This is the nicest message to get and so happy you came over to look at the costumes 😂 So honored that you assumed we were a bigger podcast hahaha ... we are stupid small. But we have a very active and dedicated group of people who tune in which makes up for it, for sure. I think the content might be too niche to ever get big, but we very much appreciate all of you who enjoy it!!

    The light is fading outside of County Joe’s Slopperia as Frank softly takes Julien by the wrist, “No, you have to flick it, like this.”
    Julien smiles bravely, as he releases the yo-yo and it finally, _finally_ , spins back, love blossoming deeper than the Fjords he swam as a child. At last, he could step out of the slick black shadow of his father’s pull. At last, he could be the master of his own string.
    Terry’s lack of world building really hurts the book. Things like Richard needing to hide he is from the Midlands, could have been sprinkled into some conversations a dozen chapters ago, when it narratively would have made sense as they came out of the boundary. Or the hair length for women lore could have been weaved in at the Queen’s court with some servant or duchess that let it grow too long (Lumholtz? 😂). But he never world builds so he is forced to drop in these things last minute and its clunky.
    If Richard says propaganda doesn’t exist in the Westlands, I’m inclined to believe him. Michael specifically told him there wasn’t.
    The boys of Horner’s Mill got poll-rocked for parity?
    I am so fascinated that Terry wrote this very adult book, that we all appreciated more as teenagers. I’m also fascinated that my mom read this first and then recommended it to me. 😂
    Even with her Confessor’s face on, Kahlan would be very sombre and delicate when recounting this, and it would have a better effect. Mother Wikipedia isn’t working for me.
    Brophy Lore Dump incoming.
    Of all the wayward pines in all the Westlands you walk into mine?
    The Confessor powers definitely develop. It would have made more sense if when they first got their power, they couldn’t fully control it in their sleep, or really at all, and it made it a particularly dangerous time to be around them. But slowly they got used to it, so it became more like breathing. It also would make more sense if it went off during nightmares or other vivid dreams.
    There are so many holes in the Confessor power, which would be less of an issue if it wasn’t a main driving force for the conflict in Richard and Kahlan’s relationships and the backbone of the entire social-political system of the world, and a main influence in world History, and a huge crux in resolving the plot...
    Obviously, Richard should be played by Chris Pratt. (please don’t block me).

    I have so much questions about the lore of the book.
    Like how Confessors are giving birth without harming anyone?
    Why they are not confessing their own children?
    Why Kahlen keeps mentioning that she was born with her powers, if she got it later?

    • @SeekerConfessorPod
      @SeekerConfessorPod  Місяць тому

      I had totally overlooked the birth thing, that's so true ... how ARE they doing that? I'm sure there's some "the magic of the new baby prevents them from being Confessed" reasoning behind it. SO many questions 😂

    Thank you for another episode!! I am so excited for a Legend of the Seeker watch through!! (I hate Kahlan's dress in it, it's totally wrong. And Richard is tiny haha)

    • @cynthiasec
      @cynthiasec Місяць тому +3

      For the longest time, I was so sure I wanted to get married in an exact replica of that dress 🙈 hahaha
      Is it the elbow capes? Those are load-bearing capes, integral for structural stability and safety, so really, they had no choice lol

    • @CaptainAiryca
      @CaptainAiryca Місяць тому +2

      @@cynthiasec in the books, the Confessor dress has a square neckline that I'm pretty sure is no cleavage showing. Is is some sort of silky fancy cloth that shows of Kahlan's perfect body and Richard is always losing his mind when she wears it lol but the show had some sort of corset top thing that didn't vibe with me. Elbow capes are fine though, the dress was flowy and elegant, so elbow capes make sense!! 😂
      Also I can see a younger person wanting a wedding dress like it tbh, although it is an interesting vibe to want to get married in the murder dress lolol

      @FrankAlbergo Місяць тому +1

      @@CaptainAirycait’s interesting to make it have a square neckline and no cleavage (like a nuns habit) but also make it form fitting… unless Kahlan just happened to fill it out because she’s more bodacious then the wizards of yore accounted for?

    • @CaptainAiryca
      @CaptainAiryca Місяць тому

      @@FrankAlbergo I think Kahlan fills it out a bit more than planned lol, I feel like the Mother Confessor wearing white while all the other gals wear black is also interesting. Like the white seems to have this not quite see through but also kinda shows things off quality. And yes, the whole neck line thing is interesting but it's written in multiple places that's what it looks like.

      @@SeekerConfessorPod When I used to post a lot more online about outdoor stuff I feel like some men were weirdly like dang that's hot when we were discussing things like knives, traps/snares, fire making, etc. Most bushcrafty/primitive skills people are super respectful. A common thing though is many of them wished over and over again that their wives/girlfriends were into those things more in a way that just didn't make sense in my brain. Like, do you involve her/show her these things?? She might be able to do them if someone showed her the ropes?? Idk lol.

      @@CaptainAiryca That is soooo interesting and I guess not that surprising now that you've said it. I think there is something inherently attractive about self sufficiency that probably is coming into play (not that these are normal reactions to write on anyone's regular ass UA-cam videos lol). But I think Richard would be VERY attracted to self sufficiency as well ... given his whole arc lol. TOTALLY know what you mean though in terms of like ... can you please just talk to your wives and stop projecting things onto me .. please .. 😭

    Terry crosses the line with the sexual assault stuff. It feels uncomfortable almost like you're being assaulted with the information vs presented in a way that you can think "wow these guys are evil". But noooo it's like the evil things are kinda thrown at you in this way that feels.... wrong. Idk. I'm sensitive and definitely skimmed some of the parts with descriptions of such things.
