My home zoo! I'm old enough to have seen massive, positive changes in this place. When I was a kid, the gorilla Willie B lived in a concrete cell, essentially, with a TV and a tire swing and that was about it. Many years and millions of dollars later, the zoo transformed. They built much better, expansive habitats for the animals. It became a much more positive space. It's not a big zoo, but many of the habitats are really nice.
And you think the gorilla is happy now? Answer: it's not.
Fuck all zoos
Love your zoo streams highlighting the AZA zoos that are doing conservation work. Please visit the St Louis zoo soon? There is no admission price to visit too!
Sruti is so pretty. Sad I couldn’t see this live :(
45:34 "TWO PAJAMAS!" lmao 🤣
i love emerald tree boas, theyre so amazing, i like the Northern ones more but the basin are both so beautiful. When i was like 14 i saw a listing for a pair in nashville and i always think about them, im
22 now and i always hope they were given to a reliable pet owner and are happy if they're still alive.
we need more BUUUGSSS at zoo atlantaaaaaa
MY HOME ZOO LOVE FROM ATLANTA OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite part of the video: 1:13:58
I know it’s probably how they feed the vultures but a whole fiberglass zebra carcass just on display is kinda crazy💀
pls come to New Orleans to the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium. The aquarium and insectarium combined into one building and underwent major renovations in 2023 and Maya would love all the bugs!
shouts out mik for the quick upload
They're getting a new wolf from Atlanta?!.... total guess lol
That's what I was guessing too!!!! Whatever it is I'm excited lol
Yes i think. Sruti being there too is kind of obvious giveaway
@dewantoroo honestly didn't even put that together lol, good point
Ding ding ding! You won Lol
17:33 Not all Cuckoos are brood parasites, the Guira cuckoo aren't brood parasites. The Roadrunner (meep-meep) is also in the family Cuculidae, so can be classified as a Cuckoo, as they also have the common name of Ground cuckoo, also aren't brood parasites.
Aw man I saw Atlanta and a man that looks like DIWD (Do It With Dan)
What time are they going live today?
Was thinking the same thing. I'm in the UK and about to go to sleep. Guess I'll check out the surprise tomorrow before work
I think it’s been postponed by a day. And Maya said they don’t have an exact time
lol "recycling efforts" makes it sound like "it doesn't matter but well at least you tried".
Does anybody know the time stamp when Maya made about the tigers and eagles coming to Alveus?
How tf is maya cool with zoos? I thought you like animals?
Zoo´s🙄
???
not all zoos are bad! this zoo is AZA certified which means they have higher standards for the enclosures and the animals' care. the word zoo tends to have a negative stigma attached to it bc ofc there ARE lots of shitty zoos out there, but the term zoo itself doesnt automatically mean bad animal welfare :)
@@TissueCat_ While it's true that not all zoos are inherently "bad," the issue isn't just about certification or higher standards like those of the AZA. Even in well-run zoos, the core problem remains: animals are often confined to spaces far smaller than their natural habitats and unable to engage in the full range of natural behaviors.
The AZA certification is certainly a step in the right direction compared to substandard facilities, but it doesn't address the larger ethical question of whether wild animals should be kept in captivity at all-no matter how good the care might be. Many animals suffer from stress, boredom, and frustration in captivity, and even the best zoos can't replicate the freedom and complexity of the wild.
Instead of focusing on improving zoos, wouldn't it make more sense to prioritize wildlife sanctuaries, conservation projects, and protecting habitats in the wild? It’s worth asking whether we’re truly putting the animals' well-being first-or if the idea of zoos is more for human entertainment and education, often at the animals' expense.
@@Oetterchen they will not understand that animals in captivity only make sense if they are rescued, they will say the typical shit again - that it's for conservation when it really isn't, they just want entertainment and dont give a f about the animals
