You must have had fun editing this one. Loved the 8mm filter on it, including th little motor purring in the background... Marstrand was the right place to do this.
WOW! What a beautiful episode this was! Thank you for making these fridays, with excellent footage, music that pampers the ears (specially when wearing headphones while watching) and a sympathetic crew….
Ciao.......finalmente ho rivisto i filmati erano spariti.Sono molto belli,Maya è bravissima.E' anche ricomparsa la maglietta gialla!...😳😫🤣😂un grosso abbraccio a tutti e due.baci baci.
Hi from NZ really enjoyed this excellent production This is such a good therapy in troubling times Tech stuff if you put a chain brake on the aft end of the anchor fairlead a steel flap that pivots from the top you can take a breath when pulling up the anchor by hand Cheers
Really glad to see you enjoying my "hood". Marstrand is just like 10 nm nw from Björlanda-Kile, one of Swedens largest harbours, and home to just about 2800 pleasure crafts, among them the "Joli Rouge", a fairly decent Polca 28, trying to become a floating retirement plan in just about ten to twelve years;) Swedish archipelagos are truly blessed once the winds and the weather decides to cooperate. Seems like you already know:) Glad to be able to participate in your travels, you´re doing a wonderful job - Keep it up ´N fair winds to ya`ll! Best wishes from Cap´n Morgan
Hey Hey, from end of July till end Half way September 2024, I enjoyed the Gothenburg Archipelago (until Fjällbacka) with my Trawler. The reason of my visit was because of all the pictures of sailors mooring along side rocks I saw on Insta. This Nordic mooring was something I wanted to check out myself, but I found out that the bow/hull of my 50ft trawler was too high from the water and since I did the trip all solo, it was difficult to manoeuvre the Lady and keep an eye on what was in front of the boat. But other than that, I only can say: what a beautiful scenery.
On a stressful day, watching this peaceful episode brought me back to the years when we spent much of our time sailing in BC and restored my inner peace. We gave up sailing to restore an old family farm on the Greek island of Ikaria, where we now live half the year. I have no regrets, but it's wonderful to be brought back to that time. As I write this, I'm looking out my window at Howe Sound and mellowing out.
Oh how wonderful to see your episod of ouer home arcipelago between Hönö and Öckerö ❤ Did you saw that you ancered by the Lion. We live at Öckerö, you can almost se ouer little harbour behind you. This is ouer paradise and home on Earth ❤
Haha we would've loved that!! Maybe next time I can try to set something like that up... I've never worked with any tourism boards, so it'd be interesting!
There was a moment when Aladino referred to a "cow herder" and in my mind, translated to American, that's cowboy. Never though about it that way before. The "farmers life for me" was amusing as well.
It is amazing to me that you make such wonderful videos with such low barren islands in doldrum seas. In other hands this could have been so boring and uninteresting and yet you have made a gem of peace and stony grandeur.
Lovely episode, I’m dreaming of Great Lakes sailing again. Loved the rendition of “Inisheer”, sitting on the rocks. Also, remember the sailboat racer’s creed - if it doesn’t break, it’s too heavy.
Ah - 3:42 - I recognize this piece of music - often played at our Irish Trad Sessions... it fits well with this scenery, too. The drone footage is still a favourite.
Marstrand is awesome, but only off season imo. The weather hits and the tourists are gone, then the beauty of the sea and rocks colliding is shown, with the fortress as a cherry on top of it all, it comes together. It's a great place to write and play music.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery and the beautiful music. Another peaceful evening here sitting by the fire and enjoying the world through your journey. Peace
Such Tranquillity.... Could be Paradise...... I have lived in Sweden and I love the Place..... Great to see you so chilled out..... You Both deserve it..... :-)) xxxx
What a great commercial for our west coast. I really appreciate to see the pictures of places I'm so use to visit. Now it's winter in Sweden and my boat is staying in Marstrand and the place you visit had a slightly different view. Sorry that I didn't meet you during your trip. Looking forward to next episode
I just realized we made a short anchor stop just east of you in the same bay this summer, i remember the nice Vindö 32 and the Canadian flag in the stern.😀☀️ By the way I just love your violin tunes. They fit perfect to the landscape.
Inasheer - I closed my eyes and listened repeatedly to your beautiful version! Greatly soothing! What is the sax music at the end? I am impressed by your selections of music to fit the video. You must have a great mental storehouse of appropriate music!
I was surprised today to hear such a familiar tune on the violin! I don't recall the name, but it is one my favorites to play on my Irish tin whistle 🙂
I live in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast and had my own sailing boat for a short while. Sailed to/passed Marstrand twice I think. Lovely to see other people enjoy this part of the world. Also makes me miss having a sailing boat but I plan on renting one maybe next summer. When I owned one, I spent more time on maintenance than on sailing itself so better to rent one every once in a while and watch some sailing on UA-cam in the meantime 😊
When I learned to sail about 60 years ago in exactly the waters you are in right now (in the video), you always sailed in to small islands (and harbours), you first made a short trip along the shoreline to find a good place to moor, then you sailed out and took down the mainsail, put a stern anchor into the sea and calmly sailed in to the anchorage with the help of the foresail. When you were almost there, you released the sail and glide the boat in place with the help of the anchor line used as a break. That is why Swedes always dock with the bow towards the island. It is much easier than reversing the boat in place with just sails. ;-) Try it! 😊
Those little but rosey warm islands seem to smile as you play...I did as well. So peaceful and lovely... We have different little islands in Maine than what Sweden has and probably different from what you remember from the Canadian Maritime .. I like John Denvers song "Islands" on UA-cam... and the line ".... islands... like stepping stones to the Sun"
Nice to see my neighbourhood, Marstrand. I live just a couple of km east of Marstrand and visit it once or twice a week. In winter it is really calm here with no tourists. We have now 5-10 cm snow, -5 degrees C in the air, but +6 in the water so it will take a long time to get any ice, if any. Only two restaurants are open during the winter, "Marstrand Pizzeria" (where I had lunch yesterday 9th of December) and the large hotel, "Marstrands Havshotell", plus a hamburger stand at the ferry terminal, all on Koön ("Cow island"), not on the Marstrand Island itself.
Love your videos. Im danish and have been sailing in scandinavia and the medit for more than 25 years. I love your way telling about your trip and aspecially the violin 😘
An even more beautiful episode than the last one! I don’t know how y’all did it, but the violin and videography for this one being so spectacular probably had something to do with it. Between the sunset sailing and the Camcorder Bit at the end, this episode managed to perfectly capture the feeling of summer. Also, Fun Fact: Farmer’s Tans used to be called Sailor’s Tans in nautical areas, and it seems Aladino is bringing the etymology back! Jokes aside, I can’t wait for the next one and keep doing what y’all do cause it’s amazing, -J
Maya and Aladino! My name is Sergey. I used to be your patreon but when Russia started this war against Ukraine I can not be a patreon - my card is blocked due to restrictions. I am from Russia. And I want to say that you are doing great things showing people your videos. Your stories, your lifestyle, your work on Magic Carpet 2 are amazing. It’s getting more and more hard to stay here because of this war, because of all those people in this country, who are supporting thit war. I have a lot of relatives in Ukraine, my mother is from Ukraine, my cousins are in Ukrainian army now. So I started thinking of leaving Russia. I am an air traffic controller in Moscow but as a hobby I am building sail boats in shed. Two of them are made by now and were successfully tested at Black Sea. They are only 12 feet long. The third one is much bigger - 16 feet but it is under construction. It is a Catboat. I would appreciate it if you share contacts of boatyards you know in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden or maybe somewhere else. Or maybe you know someone who can give me useful contacts. I want to apply for a job on boatyard. If you want I will show you photos of my boats
My wife and I saw you this summer, not far from Vinga at a place called In Vinga. We live on Hönö and was out with our boat. It's interesting to wtch the place where we live through someone elses eyes. Not far from the place where you were anchoring there is a small island called Lejonet (the Lion on english). It looks like a lion lying down.
Such wonderful peaceful episode.. thank you all...Oh it made me think of a favorite song by Donovan and his 4 album set "Gifts From a Garden" the song is "The Tinker and the Crab" ..maybe Maya can play the violin in a dance with the flute in the song?
I think that while you are in the archipelago outside Gothenburg you should try learning some of the local music. Maybe Lasse Dahlquist's "De' ä dans på Brännö brygga" would be a good introduction, but let me explain why: Brännö is an island outside Gothenburg, position 57°38.683'N 11°46.496'E, around 20NM away from Marstrand, following the fairway. The title of the song means "There's a dance at Brännö quay". This was a social must for many people, more-so the more remotely you lived. And Brännö is quite remote. Not necessarily in distance, but at least in the effort required to travel many years ago (the song was published in 1941). So the dances on Brännö brygga could be popular with the locals, and those on the neighbouring islands who could get there. There had been dancing at this particular quay for many years before it was chopped up in the 1960's, to be replaced with a newer quay, but this has not stopped the dancing. Lasse Dahlquist spent a good part of his life, particularly his childhood, in Gothenburg.
You capture some.... Really nice pictures of Aladino. He is such a beautiful man.
😁😁😁 At 5.35min: Usually not always much luck with catching fish, but obviously with catching/rescuing a sinking sausage! Bravo! 😁😁😁
Watching this from a cold dark winter day in Iceland. Makes me long for summer again and some sailing time of our own. Thank you.
Sweet! Sweet, sweet, sweet! Long lives for the beautiful couple together! :)
I loved your fiddle music, especially the counting with your toes.
Love your choice of filter for this episode…harkens back to the 8mm film days of my youth
You must have had fun editing this one. Loved the 8mm filter on it, including th little motor purring in the background... Marstrand was the right place to do this.
That looks so nice, sitting here in -10° in France. Enjoy...
WOW! What a beautiful episode this was! Thank you for making these fridays, with excellent footage, music that pampers the ears (specially when wearing headphones while watching) and a sympathetic crew….
Thank you so much for watching, and for all the kind comments you've left us!

If there was a category for UA-cam film of the year, this would be up there with the best of them. Thank you Maya and Aladino.
I am impressed about how clean and neat the houses look in the villages you are videoing.
Gah - you and your soft words like balm to my troubled soul xxx

Your tunes are wonderful. Keep them up, please.
Also: Wisdom from my father. "If there is a choice, choose the farmer".
The music is soothing. I can imagine how the sound carries over the surrounding water - now that's magical !

That was beautiful, thank you.
Another excellent video..thank you so much for sharing with us
The amazing adventure continues. What a beautiful, peaceful place.
Love the swedish mermaid making beautiful music, which hypnotizes me..

That is some serious violin music! Oh yes, and a great video ;)
Music tuned to the rocks solitude!
They seem to call the sailors to stay with them for the short summer
Well done
Videos like that give me a sense if inner peace! Wonderful place, beautiful video in every way!
Lovely episode! Great to have the violin in prominent place. Happy that the beautiful harmony on MG is back. Aladino is a good man.
I love it; he did all of the work, turned and said, "God job everybody." 🙂
Thank you all….just that….thank you❤️💕🙏
Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful rendition of Inisheer, Maya. Thanks!
love you guys. Thanks for sharing. hugs Rik
I have already shared this video with a Swedish friend in Lanio in the north of Sweden.
Always a beautiful and enchanting episode. The violin extra is lovely.
Marstrand is awesome, but only off season imo. The weather hits and the tourists are gone, then the beauty of the sea and rocks colliding is shown, with the fortress as a cherry on top of it all, it comes together.
It's a great place to write and play music.
Beautiful violin music! So soothing and magical
😁😁😁 Honestly (definitely not kidding)! 5 seconds in the video and I thought, that an old style telephone was ringing! 😁😁😁
Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery and the beautiful music. Another peaceful evening here sitting by the fire and enjoying the world through your journey. Peace
We are long-time fans of your channel. This was an especially sweet episode! I always love Maya's musical moments. Merci!

You have such clarity in the way you play your violin. The result is lovely to hear
Ashokan farewell please ! The perfect complement! Thanks Jim
Looking forward to getting back to your big boat!

As usual stunning
A beautiful video! You are a master of filming, editing and narration!
Excellent idea getting a long shot of that fine looking classic Porsche at 14:36. . . :>/

Wow. Cow ropes, farmers tan, farmers workout, I’m surprised you weren’t anchored with an old plow. 😅
Blissful sailing and exploring, good to have a friend share the journey and let you have time to film other details of life onboard.
OH my, OH my, thank you Maya. Beautiful 16 minutes. :-)
Did you see RANsailing? They are building their own boat. Nice video again.
Another masterpiece. Thank you! 😍
Hi from Florida. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks and Be Safe.

The long sun of the Swedish summer with a Magic Carpet flavor: Hmmmmmm..........
9:40 - Aladino looking "Pole-ish"... 15:06 - could inspire an appropriate tune: "Mind The Thorns"...? It would need to be a berry-catchy choon.
A lot of love from Morocco 🇲🇦!

Love your videos. I am a Swedish American who has lived in Sweden. Keep up the good work. Have you watched RAN Sailing?
It's been years since I've seen a video that put the sound of a drone into the video. Good:)
I wonder, does the humidity affect your violin living aboard? Love it when you play. Thanks for sharing.
👍👌👏 Wonderful!
After hearing you play "Inisheer" - 3:42 - can't help but wonder if your sailing might ever take you to the Aran Islands.
cutest spinnaker pole ever;)

Svårt att göra något annat än att le:)
Innisheer was a great choice Maya.
I think that while you are in the archipelago outside Gothenburg you should try learning some of the local music. Maybe Lasse Dahlquist's "De' ä dans på Brännö brygga" would be a good introduction, but let me explain why:
Brännö is an island outside Gothenburg, position 57°38.683'N 11°46.496'E, around 20NM away from Marstrand, following the fairway.
The title of the song means "There's a dance at Brännö quay". This was a social must for many people, more-so the more remotely you lived. And Brännö is quite remote. Not necessarily in distance, but at least in the effort required to travel many years ago (the song was published in 1941). There had been dancing at this particular quay for many years before it was chopped up in the 1960's, to be replaced with a newer quay, but this has not stopped the dancing.
Lasse Dahlquist spent a good part of his life, particularly his childhood, in Gothenburg.
Loved the tune and everything else about the video! Thank you very much for the interlude 🙂
I cannot imagine a better place and time to play “Innisheer”
more please!! ❤
