It's interesting how nowadays it's widely accepted to make sure to include backline-reach in your party. Before corpses were a thing, you could trivialize combat by doing the woodchipper method: just mow down the Frontline with your own heavy-hitting Frontline, which pushes the squishy backline into the front and makes them harmless. So Red Hook implemented corpses. It was a creative and theme-fitting solution to make the meta more interesting, without simply resorting to making the enemies beefier or harder to kill. Plus you could still destroy the corpses, but it's far less effective and slower that way. But a lot of people went ballistic over this, claiming it ruined the game because their old strategy didn't work anymore, and the game got review-bombed over it. Eventually the studio implemented an option to turn off corpses. At this point, corpses are seen as an integral part of the game, and every guide out there recommends adding backline-hitting skills to your toolkit. It's just funny to me how people used to get upset over this, when all they had to was adapt their strategy to include back-line hitting abilities....
also funny because from my personal experience corpses taught me to target backliners first-which prevented me a lot of stress damage & enemy buffs in the long run lol
I'd personally be careful about clearing bad quirks with curios like the Eerie Coral in the Cove. You unfortunately don't get to choose which bad quirk is removed - and in some cases there are "good" bad quirks that you want to hold on to because they either don't effect the character (Like Hellion getting a minus range acc penalty) or they're a minor inconvenience like Faithless or Witness (You can't Pray or Flagellate for stress relief) or they're actually a bonus (like Risktaker). In which case it would be better to get rid of a specific quirk at the Sanitarium.

At the very start of my recent save file after a few years of not playing i brought a lvl 1 team to the cove. I had a flagellant with risktaker, and no other bad quirk, which i thought was awesome since 1 he needed the damage, 2 he was already at very low dodge with his starting armour, and 3 flagellant's whole point is to get hit enough to use stuff like exsang. I half remembered that using the herbs on the coral did something positive but i didn't remember exactly what. Guess which of my characters i happened to select to interact with the coral using the herb?

Looks good on paper. If it wins that's all that matters. I can see the speed of crusader/leper being a potential issue, letting enemies up front get an extra turn before finishing them off, but that isn't a huge deal.
Like Aidan says it works fine, but if you are worried about the dodge penalty from focus ring you can get some prot for example since you are gonna get hit more, or a resist trinket. Personally if I'm going focus ring it's better to just lean into the damage with the second trinket.

Easy rule of thumb is 1 of each hero and 2 of your favorites til you are full. If there's a healer you like a lot to tie your teams together like Vestal or Arbalest then you can get 3.
I respect the work put in to avoiding spoilers, but the games been out for 6 years. Anyone coming here I assume has a firm grasp on the game and all the spoilers and what not and is just looking to improve their play.
There's lots of new players all the time. To give a non DD example, Dan from the Game Grumps only found out who Sheik was during the OoT playthrough on the channel 5 years ago, and that game released in 1998. Some things don't permeate the wider mainstream knowledge, so it still leaves room for surprises for the people who get to experience it for the first time.
@@disasterjones5798 That's true but I think that'd be the exception rather than the rule. His gaming history is very weird, while he's old enough to know basically everything he skipped out on the generation that introduced 3D.
@@TheNoMoreGamer I guess if you're coming from the perspective of somebody who frequently plays new releases, I can understand. That said, games are constantly being released between all the various AAA and indie developers, and the volume of them has grown exponentially over the years. It's not unreasonable to think that many fly under the radar (i.e. Among Us not getting popular until 2+ years after it released), or takes some people a while to even be able to play (needing a specific console, etc). As a personal anecdote, I waited to get DD until the timing was right, when I had extra funds to justify a new game and there was a sale going on. Circumstances being what they were, it sat on my Steam wishlist for almost three years before I caved and bought it on GoG instead (which was a mistake).
I have a weakness playing this game. In order to beat you need to play a lot and i mean a lot of quests. Which means that at some point i can't concentrate anymore and i just start making stupid mistakes left right and centre.
I stoped playing three weaks ago. I set a goal - with 17 heroes kill all bosses, complete all objectives without dying on Radiant. Some what like DD 2. I move forward. All was ok. But champion lvl Hug Witch killed one my hero. I was too bold. I was think - HW easy, its will be fine. unexpected death. And I stopped. Very discouraged. I will come back to game after a while.
If u going on a long run just to remove few quirks you should think when did u failed , cause at that point u should have all important negative quirks removed because that run may cost u more what u would spend at hamlet
Rules was - I cant recrut two heroes one type. If hero dyied - I cant recruet another. Example - i recruit antic, antic get killed, no antic for me. I cant dismiss heroes and recruit another this type - Oh! This crusaider have cool cuirk. I dismiss main and recruit this be cause this crus better. No. It was fun ride. sry bad engl
What annoying me right now is the fact that the jump in difficulty from veteran to champion is insane. For some reason every enemy in champion campaigns are super hard to hit and hit super hard and have hig acc. Any idea what to focus on? I have thought to get a tank(leper or crusader) a high discount like highway and jestal(don't judge, I like sustain and I'm annoyed from getting afflicted). Even my best team with good trinkets barely hits anything and is mowed down pretty fast. Also, why call Julia's head?
@@jaded7466 well more specifically I was talking about later in the game, like champion level. At the beginning cove might be the hardest. But the veteran and champion level unique monsters in cove are very weak. The as long as you pack bleed resist items the big crab harmless and actually helps because you can use it as an opportunityto heal and remove stress. . Squiffy ghast is the weakest of the champion mini bosses. So once your heroes have leveled to champion cove is the easiest.

By which point is it sensible to turn on crimson court? I’m nervous about it.
I would beat the game without it first and then start your next playthrough with it

MY HEROES GET ONE SHOOTED AT DEATHDOOR
1/3 are pretty bad odds unfortunately.
shirt check made me double take
Sound when new round start (drum) too frkn loud for me. And musket gunshot Musketers kinda flat. IDK why i type this. :^)
great vid
I play on ps so I don't have access to mods. Can u tell me of the 30 toons I can have what js a good break down to take. Example 10 damage dealers 10 healers 10 support. Any answer helps. Thanks again bro
Easy rule of thumb is 1 of each hero and 2 of your favorites til you are full. If there's a healer you like a lot to tie your teams together like Vestal or Arbalest then you can get 3.
@@ShuffleFM pretty much all we do in darkest dungeon is based off ur tutorials. So we run alot of graverobber
shuff out here disguising cove guides as team building vids
I sent Arba/Crus/Crus/Flag to the Courtyard and got until the boss with Good Health and Low Stress.
Narration is 10 outta 10 in DD
Why not Mildred's Locket instead of Speed Stone
I forgot about it, but I do like to show low level trinkets as well.
great!!!
someone got a haircut
I respect the work put in to avoiding spoilers, but the games been out for 6 years. Anyone coming here I assume has a firm grasp on the game and all the spoilers and what not and is just looking to improve their play.
You'd be surprised. With how often the game goes on sale these days I get a lot of people who say they just got the game recently.
@@ShuffleFM Very fair, I stand corrected. I forget the difference being this is an indie game that doesn't get by on name alone.
Don't forget Plague Doctor is great for any medical mishaps made by the Occultist! A good backup plan in case of the dreaded 0 heal + bleed
I feel almost obligated to run Occultist with PD if I have no other healers.
What class is ZeZoister?
Leper with giant dad skin
Thank you
I have a weakness playing this game. In order to beat you need to play a lot and i mean a lot of quests. Which means that at some point i can't concentrate anymore and i just start making stupid mistakes left right and centre.
The grind can be really tough
@@ShuffleFM the game demands that the player is always concentrated. But it's so long...
Somellier E-girl? An Antiquarian?
Why is Jester purple?
The name? It's something people figured out how to do about a month ago. You can change text colors. I should do a vid on it at some point.
It's not even funny how much SB stomps virtually every area of the game, Farmstead and CC especially
It's super easy to notice how she was the latest addition.
Yea i just don't play with SB. It's just too strong/easy
She's kinda squishy tho.
Don't give up! :)

If u going on a long run just to remove few quirks you should think when did u failed , cause at that point u should have all important negative quirks removed because that run may cost u more what u would spend at hamlet
You get negative quirks too frequently to keep purging them imo, and it costs gold. Using dungeon curio to cure quirks is something I like a lot.
There is an guide app for dd that tells you alot of things highly recommend it
I’m sorry, who the *hell* is that first character in your roster, and why does he look like an actual nightmare?
It's a giant dad skin for Leper lol
Rules was - I cant recrut two heroes one type. If hero dyied - I cant recruet another. Example - i recruit antic, antic get killed, no antic for me. I cant dismiss heroes and recruit another this type - Oh! This crusaider have cool cuirk. I dismiss main and recruit this be cause this crus better. No. It was fun ride. sry bad engl
I'm surprised the gear you use is not very good.
Making sure new players know what early trinkets to get.
But why do I need to think about team building when Rot Squad exists, the best team, the team that covers all problems ;)
Please Rank Mods next.
Mod classes? There are quite a lot out there.
@@ShuffleFM Classes are good. What Quality of Life Mods do you like?
QOL mods video soon. Maybe next week.
@@ShuffleFM Class Mods would be welcome too. Librarian / Stargazer sync up really well.
Can you make a Darkest Dungeon sex guide? I'm still kinda new at the game and don't quite understand it

*snort*
The game gets a lot easier when you realize the cove is the easiest area. Borders on cheesy to just run cove over and over.
wait, really? I get steamrolled everytime I enter cove. mind going into more detail ?
ruins is confirmed easier due to no disease and the fact crusader is built for it for you
@@jaded7466 well more specifically I was talking about later in the game, like champion level.
Nice
