My theory: (inspired by the top comment) A guy named John probably fell in love with her or confessed his love to her when she was wearing a green dress. She might have rejected him or a break up had taken place. But John couldn't get over her so he started stalking her and when she was out at night, he kidnapped her. She wrote all these letters and when john found out he tried to beat her to death (or tried to k!ll her in another way) she wrote the letter with her blood.

I like how her future-self is trying to protect her from being murdered but in a silly kind of mystery way, one small detail at a time. Instead of you know, all at once and in a way that makes sense.
I think depending on the choices the current self makes, the future self experiences those changes. The first letter for example, said "dont wear green" since she didnt wear green the future self avoided whatever situation happened, but something happened when she went out at night, so she warns her past self about that. The saddest thing is, I think no matter how many letters she writes, she cant escape her stalker.
I imagine the future letters are maybe only a year in the future, so each letter was the future one trying to warn the past self, but each precaution she took wasn't enough, so she had to get more severe with each warning
There's the butterfly effect, so she should've been fine on the first letter "don't date someone named John" but maybe the events of the future still affects the other timeliness just like in those stories, with regression or going back to the past. Like the events will still happen one way or another, so she's sending letters like these to avoid that.

John is dangerous, because he's obsessed with the main character. But every single time he gets his hands on his love interest she sends a letter to the past to prevent it from happening. So, this is what's going on: 1) First warning comes. The future self noticed all creepiness of her lover, and suspects she will be dead soon. She sends her past self a warning, so there would be less of a chance of John even noticing her. 2) Second warning. The future self has no idea why nothing changed and suspected, that her past self didn't follow the advice. The first future self made herself more specific to make sure her past self won't fall into a trap. Most likely this future self is already dead, so the new timeline was created. 3) Third warning, already new timeline. The second future self is followed by John. He still noticed her, even though she followed every single advice. More to that, this made John angrier and more hostile. 4) Fourth warning. John breaks into her house, she writes and sends the letter while he is searching around the house. Most likely this future self is also dead or held hostage, she can't send letters anymore. A new timeline is created, where she didn't get caught. 5) John goes berserk and kills his love. She writes the letter to her past self with her own blood, because she barely had strength to make it to the sending centre. The new timeline is created. Or maybe not. Maybe the girl is now the future self. She has no idea what's coming up. Everything she can do now is to keep her guard up, warning her past self about everything she goes through.

It means, that someone got in her house because she left the doors opened. There is a lot of other theories I have because it's not stated that it was John, who was following her. It could be someone else.

Then the letter said "Don't go out at night again" It used to be just past 12 AM but now its the whole entire night. She dreads the next card that will come next year. A year goes by and she doesn't wanna read it but then it says "Don't leave your house tomorrow", written in blood. So basically john was her boyfriend but was really toxic so she broke up with him so that made him mad so one night when she went out to walk her dog past 12 am he jumped out at her with a knife she luckily made it away in time but she went out again for a girls night, her friends car wasn't stopping/going off and was acting weird so they would have to walk to her block being rained on. She didn't care so she walked. It was 8:00 pm and John pushed her into a brick wall of her neighbors house and used it to knock her out. She woke up in a basement but found an old pen and started righting more serious letters to her past self to let her know what to do. When john found out about this he was furious and took her pen and stabbed her multiple times with it. She had nothing to use but her blood. She wrote her final letter, the one that could be the difference between life or death.

Random story I think that's what happened here One day, when they were friends, John started to like her, the fact that she didn't know he was obsessed He couldn't stop thinking about her so He made a choice to stalk her. That was awesome this is like what two sentence Horror stories would be if they were like mini books. Everybody was giving stories but I like yours the most. Like she's trying to warn her but in reality she unintentionally leads her closer to death anyway. Like the letters are trying to help you but they backfire Or she's bound to get hurt or killed anyway this route was just less violent. For those of you who don't get it: She should not have worn the green shirt because it was actually enchanted and turned her into a tree (it's green duh) later she met John and thought they were in love because of the way he touched her leaves but actually John is a woodcutter and cut her down cause she was still an enchanted tree, later she got turned into paper, but before she was used as toilet paper she begged John to at least build a time machine to send her into the past and write letters on her instead so she could warn herself. John did as she asked cause John knows nothing and build a time machine (easy peezy) and wrote those latters on her (she is paper now) the last one is written in blood cause John cut himself on the paper and ran out of ink and thought why not? What she doesn't know is that this will mess up the space time and destroy reality as we know it because it messes with the time lines, therefore creating the conditions that allowed her to get turned into a tree in the first place allowing John to always turn her into paper (it's his master plan), but of course next time she will just be used as toilet paper and the letter will be written with poop. Btw for those who don't get the don't get out part, she is a tree and trees can't walk so she can't get anywhere obviously!

I like how her future-self is trying to protect her from being murdered but in a silly kind of mystery way, one small detail at a time. Instead of you know, all at once and in a way that makes sense.
I think depending on the choices the current self makes, the future self experiences those changes.
The first letter for example, said "dont wear green" since she didnt wear green the future self avoided whatever situation happened, but something happened when she went out at night, so she warns her past self about that.
The saddest thing is, I think no matter how many letters she writes, she cant escape her stalker.

I imagine the future letters are maybe only a year in the future, so each letter was the future one trying to warn the past self, but each precaution she took wasn't enough, so she had to get more severe with each warning
There's the butterfly effect, so she should've been fine on the first letter "don't date someone named John" but maybe the events of the future still affects the other timeliness just like in those stories, with regression or going back to the past. Like the events will still happen one way or another, so she's sending letters like these to avoid that.

He was jelly that someone else but him slays the color green so he forced future her to write these comments. She didn’t listen. For those who don't understand:
There's a girl, the main character, and the boy, John. John is dangerous, because he's obsessed with the main character. But every single time he gets his hands on his love interest she sends a letter to the past to prevent it from happening.
So, this is what's going on:
1) First warning comes. The future self noticed all creepiness of her lover, and suspects she will be dead soon. She sends her past self a warning, so there would be less of a chance of John even noticing her.
2) Second warning. The future self has no idea why nothing changed and suspected, that her past self didn't follow the advice. The first future self made herself more specific to make sure her past self won't fall into a trap. Most likely this future self is already dead, so the new timeline was created.
3) Third warning, already new timeline. The second future self is followed by John. He still noticed her, even though she followed every single advice. More to that, this made John angrier and more hostile.
4) Fourth warning. John breaks into her house, she writes and sends the letter while he is searching around the house. Most likely this future self is also dead or held hostage, she can't send letters anymore. A new timeline is created, where she didn't get caught.
5) John goes berserk and kills his love. She writes the letter to her past self with her own blood, because she barely had strength to make it to the sending centre. The new timeline is created.
Or maybe not. Maybe the girl is now the future self. She has no idea what's coming up. Everything she can do now is to keep her guard up, warning her past self about everything she goes through.
This one is the best so far.
Maybe the girl killed him to escape or in a panic and doesnt want the current/ present girl to have to do it too

There is a lot of other theories I have because it's not stated that it was John, who was following her. It could be someone else.

Story: First the future self was being normal and funny sending her letters like "Don't wear green its not your color" Then it got a bit serious saying "Don't date a boy named john". She thought: Oh its probably my future selfs ex. then the letters got a little weird saying "Don't go out past 12am (midnight)" She was a bit confused but didn't think much of it. Then the next letter said "Lock your doors at night." Which she began thinking these letters kept getting weirder and really strange. Then the letter said "Don't go out at night again" It used to be just past 12 AM but now its the whole entire night. She dreads the next card that will come next year. A year goes by and she doesn't wanna read it but then it says "Don't leave your house tomorrow", written in blood. So basically john was her boyfriend but was really toxic so she broke up with him so that made him mad so one night when she went out to walk her dog past 12 am he jumped out at her with a knife she luckily made it away in time but she went out again for a girls night, her friends car wasn't stopping/going off and was acting weird so they would have to walk to her block being rained on. She didn't care so she walked. It was 8:00 pm and John pushed her into a brick wall of her neighbors house and used it to knock her out. She woke up in a basement but found an old pen and started righting more serious letters to her past self to let her know what to do. When john found out about this he was furious and took her pen and stabbed her multiple times with it. She had nothing to use but her blood. She wrote her final letter, the one that could be the difference between life or death.

Those who don't understand the vid: There's a boy/man named "John" that stalkes her every night. Her future self writes these letters every year and sends them to her everytime it's her birthday to keep her safe. That was awesome this is like what two sentence Horror stories would be if they were like mini books. Everybody was giving stories but I like yours the most. Like she's trying to warn her but in reality she unintentionally leads her closer to death anyway. Like the letters are trying to help you but they backfire Or she's bound to get hurt or killed anyway this route was just less violent.
Like her futureself didn't have this information and Maybe John had attacked her or kidnapped her after dating him didn't go as planned. Now she's trying to prevent it but don't realize that it didn't matter. So ignoring him sparked an obsession anyway and the letters are just holding off her death a little longer each time. Like say he already saw the green shirt so he was hooked but instead of her giving him a chance and it not working she denied him outright.
But now he wants what he can't have so he's trying his hardest to get her but when he realizes it wont-work he tries to take her by force. But every time he gets close to doing something she doesn't go out after 12 anymore. Or she doesn't go out at night at all and he has to change up his strategy. But he's getting desperate and just wants this to end and it's probably gonna kill her as soon as she leaves the house.
But if she never leaves the house he might go crazy enough to break in But maybe her future self can't warn her one last time because she died before the next birthday And the girl ends up being killed anyway. Well my paragraph was on purpose but still I like it. It's fun to see the stories people come up with.

For those who don’t understand: John used to be engaged to broccoli. When the girl wore green John got very angry and told her to not wear green because it reminded him of his ex who he hated. When she leaves the house he gets mad because he doesn’t want the broccoli to know about his new crush. He then writes a letter to the girl in ketchup because broccoli hated ketchup, and he thinks it will keep broccoli away.

For those of you who don't get it: She should not have worn the green shirt because it was actually enchanted and turned her into a tree (it's green duh) later she met John and thought they were in love because of the way he touched her leaves but actually John is a woodcutter and cut her down cause she was still an enchanted tree, later she got turned into paper, but before she was used as toilet paper she begged John to at least build a time machine to send her into the past and write letters on her instead so she could warn herself. John did as she asked cause John knows nothing and build a time machine (easy peezy) and wrote those latters on her (she is paper now) the last one is written in blood cause John cut himself on the paper and ran out of ink and thought why not? What she doesn't know is that this will mess up the space time and destroy reality as we know it because it messes with the time lines, therefore creating the conditions that allowed her to get turned into a tree in the first place allowing John to always turn her into paper (it's his master plan), but of course next time she will just be used as toilet paper and the letter will be written with poop. Btw for those who don't get the don't get out part, she is a tree and trees can't walk so she can't get anywhere obviously!
