ive been saying for years that if hk made the mp7 in 5.7 and semi auto they would sell like hot cakes to the masses.

@@dreknows Yes, even NATO said so. But HK/Germany and FN have history that stretches back to WWI, and when the 4 of the 5 nations on the NATO panel reviewing the 5.7x28 and the 4.6x30 round decided the 5.7 was better (no points for guessing which country was the odd man out), Germany took it personally. Seeing an HK gun chambered in a cartridge developed by FN would take nothing short of an act of God.
Or Uncle Sam ordering 10,000 of them.

Why would an LE agency let alone the civilian market want to deal with Hk if they can't get any parts out of them to keep the gun running.
At least when it comes to LE/post sample stuff, I wonder if that has anything to do with the absolute mountain of trouble H&K got caught up in with the German government when they sold ~5,000 G-36 rifles to a dubious client in Mexico in 2009 that turned out to be a thinly veiled front for the cartels.
Cause LE usually gets everything they need from hk. Plus hk products are cheaper long term.
I hope Tommy's website will have features to prevent bots and scripts to do automated purchases as he is pre-announcing the sale time. Great work guys!

I've known about this project for the better part of 6 or 7 years now and I remember talking with him about it back when he first started taking preorders for his T36 receivers. It's awesome to see how far this has come and I appreciate the time and effort he has put into it. Hell of a cool thing!
Dang this was the best interview I've seen with a small manufacturer, especially happy it was with Tom. Thank you for letting him give us his perspective from the manufacturing side. Super eye opening. I had no idea his shop was that small and all of the hurdles he has to jump over. Insane. Thank you Tom for everything you do. Hoping to snag a T7 soon!

Tommy Built should do a collaboration with either fostech(echo) or franklin armory(binary) for a dubble tap trigger to use on the T7 in the future?
I’d be in that so hard it would get knocked up. First thing I thought was, binary/echo trigger would be amazing.

I love that everyone is just saying screw HK, we will clone around you. Not only that…but our clones will have the options that armed citizens want and parts and features that are current to the time.
So the $3500 includes the pistol and pistol backplate but not the stock? How much extra will the stock be?
I guess 200 + up to a year of waiting until NRA Approves it to be an SBR (This is what I understand about the NRA and SBR/Silencer stuff, but I can be wrong so if anyone can correct please do)
@@gixerahrnairthey’re asking about the actual stock, not the tax stamp. A tax stamp is 200, yes. It’s not the NRA lol. It’s the ATF’s (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives) NFA (National Firearms Act of 1934) branch. The NFA restricts short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns, suppressors, and “any other weapons,” and the ATF enforces that law. A tax stamp for suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs are 200 but the tax stamp for an AOW is only 5. If you intend to attach a stock, you will need to pay 200 for a form 1 to create an SBR and do paperwork with the ATF. Approval time can be anywhere from a couple days to a year+. It’s just luck of the draw.
@@gixerahrnair op is saying how much money. Also, the NRA has nothing to do with this, i think you meant ATF. If you were thinking of another 3 lettered abbreviation, you're probably thinking of the NFA, thats just the Act that makes it harder for us to get sbr's, suppressors, etc.

the only problem with the T7 is that the MP7 was designed with the "swarm of angry bees" concept. You're supposed to sling those tiny little bullets in bursts so effectiveness as a SA for personal defense is going to be less.
I'd like to see one in 7.5 FK. The cartridge works effectively in an SA configuration [Designed for FK Brno's pistols], so having it in a Semi Auto PDW configuration would be great.
That being said, I still would love one of these

@@jdmozee12 if used as a PDW, yes. Personally as we're not allowed unrestricted select fire weapons, I'd like to rechamber one for something like the 7.5 FK. The external and terminal ballistics more than make up for the reduced capacity for similar sized magazines.

Apparently 100k people were on his website today trying to get the first drop of the T7. HK should take notice, there is demand if they would just sell it to us.
Tommy's going to make a fortune on these, rightfully so. I love HK but they need to see how fast these will sell.

I believe the reason to pick this over the psa is because HK doesn't make a semi auto MP7 and the buyer for this is looking for something close to authentic as possible. The PSA prototype is just a PSA rock pistol with a shell. The 3D gun community has already done this.
@@jackrich884 Because the PSA isn't a clone, it's a look alike. The X57 It's a recoil operated handgun in an oversized plastic shell. This is a gas operated sub gun clone. Not even close except on looks.

If you thought 3.5k is bad, the first examples will turn up on Gbroker for 10k. Those will sell out and the scalpers will the up it to 15k. I would guess we will never be able to get one for MSRP for at least a year if not more.

There's a branch of the armed police I believe somewhere in London who have semi auto only MP7'S,
So there can't be an excuse of having to develop one as there already making it.
Its cool to hear that he is improving the design and a shame to hear about all the crap he has to deal with from the atf. I remember when they went after t36 owners for more "full auto parts" bs. The who idiots think a shoestring or metal business card is a full auto part, no less.

Hep me understand the backplate question. You implied that people would want to buy backplates by themselves. You were referring to the pistol backplates right? Who would want one of those? I’ll take the one that comes on the gun, sure. But then as soon as I get a stamp, the pistol backplate is going in the trash. Or am I missing something?
I was referring to the stock back plates. As of now you can only buy it with the stock. The question was about being able to buy the backplates for stocks separate for people who have stocks already
So 4.6 is basically just 22lr +p?

I am really interested in hearing more about his "HK is supportive" statement, are they really as a company or is he referring to individuals within the company? Could they sue for patent infringement? If they are truly supportive it has to be because they are genuinely unable to sell in the US. It's a very interesting topic I wish he could have gone more in depth into
HK cant sell a 4.6 pistol/carbine cause the 4.6 cartridge is banned from civilian use in Germany. 4.6 is not considered a "sporting" cartridge cause something something world peace bs and something something ww2 (98 mausers being the most popular rifle over here btw followed by the ar15).
If it cant be used for sporting you cant export it to unaproved civilians/organisations. The US import laws dont help either (why you get an staynless steel barrel on the mr 556).
The US-goverment doesnt want you to own high tech concealeable PDWs they use themselves as well.
Plus the eses and boys started useing level 1-3 vests.
Btw it just looks better to dome a evil guy running around with an evil ar15/akm instead of a having to go full stalin to be able to detect whos snipeing their "peacekeepers" with a 4.6. Talking about Irak of course.
Ar15 = easy to spot (especially with drones)
Mp7 = easy to conceal
300 blk pdw = the next best option for a civilian if you get it small enough. Especially for dealing with realistic threats for a civilian.

A few companies offering 4.6 for decent prices now. Fiocchi, hornady, and S&B all have offerings at pretty much the same cost as 5.7
How’s the magazine game on these? Hard to find. I’d look but I’m currently on the side of the road watching this at a 911 call lol.
4.6 is easier and less expensive to set up to manufacture. It doesn’t require the special coating that 5.7 does. All things being equal as far as economy of scale, 4.6 is noticeably cheaper to produce.
The funny part about all this. Most of the people in the comments section want an MP7 from the media theyve seen and video games. If youve ever used one theyre absolute shit. theyre poorly made, you have to saw parts off to make it half ass work and the charging handle is plastic garbage. Yea Im good. enjoy your fantasy guns boys.
People only want it because it's elusive and it's for the gram. There's a reason 5.7 took off and the 4.6 did not.

Held a MP7 at SHOT show today at the HK booth and I will say it’s an overrated gun. The grip is horrible and not ergonomic because how fat it is, the charging handle feels like an airsoft gun, and the stock is flimsy when shouldered. However I still think it’s iconic and cool and would get one if HK came out with one, but it would be low on the list

MP7 ammo is scarce, I’m surprised that wasn’t talked about.
It’s been more available recently since this has been a thing. Fiochhi is loading it. Hornady is making their “black” defense rounds. It will be more available.
It's not that scarce. Fiocchi makes it and is readily available on the internet. Everyone's favorite company to hate, Big Daddy has ammo for $20 a box. Three gun stores by me in Atlanta have a steady supply of it as well for around $25-$30 a box (because they sell the 4.6 CMMG).

Right the real advantage is the recoil control. Making it in 9 or 22 would be widely popular or even 17hmr.
