🙋♀️ Hi Polo! I’m new to your channel; have been bingeing your back catalog. ❤️ A few suggestions: “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” (Pat Benatar” “I Love Rock & Roll” (Joan Jett) “Tupelo Honey” (Van Morrison) “Workin’ at the Carwash Blues” (Jim Croce) “The Gambler” (Kenny Rogers) “When Doves Cry” (Prince) “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (Kennedy Center Honors for George Harrison by Tom Petty and a whole host of other stars, including Prince with a stunning guitar solo) And anything else (literally, anything) by Billy Joel, Styx, or Queen Thanks for overcoming your fear of being on camera to share your reactions with us. As a 58yo white woman, I love watching my favorite music appeal to younger people 👍💐
Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Love Is A Battlefield, Hell Is For Children, All Fired Up.... We Belong is a slower, amazing song... all by the great Pat Benetar!!!❤❤❤
I was a freshman in HS. Pat was a senior. We were in choir. Mrs Ruel the choir teacher thought she would be an opera singer. Surprise! Pat revered Mrs. Ruel till her death in 2006.
The guy with the guitar is her husband, Neil Giraldo. He wasn't when this video was made. He married her in 1982. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
You Better Run is a totally smoking song. She was giving off that ultra GIRL POWER vibe. The MTV video is great. That outfit! She knew fashion and she definitely had the figure to wear it. Great vocals and a simple riff, but really a great song. The ultimate 'kick em to the curb' song.
yes, awesome and handsome LEAD guitarist neil "spyder" giraldo is the guy that became her husband, just a few short years after this performance. they are both extremely lucky and down-to-earth people to have each other 😊 she has many, many more but you've hit most of my fav pat songs ("promises in the dark" - my most favourite, "fire & ice", and now "heartbreaker") so what's left on my list is: you better run treat me right shadows of the night (one of my other most favourites) and if you're in the mood for a little less rock 'n roll, more synth/dance/pop, "we live for love" is excellent too. also: if you wanna hear more of neil giraldo's excellent guitar work, check out rick springfield's huge hit "jessie's girl" with neil's sweet, sweet guitar solo. lovin these pat reactions, polo! keep em comin! ❤
OK - I MUST have heard this song 1000s of times, over the years - and, JUST got chills from the first refrain she just hit in this performance!! LOVED PAT BENETAR: STILL DO!!!! ENJOY, POLO!! THANKS for the reactions, Hon!!!
You were right. It's the guy with the swagger. Nabbed her up and I would have to guess that they are probably the longest married couple in Rock and roll history. I could be wrong but I honestly don't know of any other rock and roll duet that is been married as long as they have.. not only a musical inspiration but an inspiration in relationship longevity as well. And nobody would dare remake this song because nobody has the pipes that this woman has. She cannot be duplicated, nor could anybody possibly improve on this song? This was musical magic and that only happens once my friend so enjoy it in its true masterful form!
Those of us that grew up on MTV of any race (yes even black kids) was listening to Pat Benatar..she was included in our musical rotation! ❤ Good Music and Crazy Fashion .. we loved it all.😂
This song was featured in the chase scene of the movie "Nobody" in 2021. If you saw that movie, you heard this song. It was a great scene - a perfect showcase for the song! I believe her husband is the lead guitar player in the striped shirt. I only say "I believe" because this is a REALLY early video I've never seen before - but he's a really handsome guy and criminally underrated guitar player. I had a babysitter in 1980 who was one of those "hot moms" - long blonde hair, drove a jeep - of course I looked up to her because she was super cool. She loved Pat Benatar and played her all the time. It was a lot to look up to for a 10 year-old. VERY VERY few women did this kind of music - Heart, The Runaways, and a few girl punk bands . I still have Benatar's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th albums - the originals I bought at the time with my own money. I got to see her for the first time live in 2004 in Toledo Ohio - She was as amazing as I knew she would be. A trained voice, so it's well preserved. Thanks for these amazing reactions.
I remember Pat Benetar at the First Rocklahoma Concert with Sammy Hagar ( solo act then ) and VanHalen ( Best VanHalen show I saw 4 of them ) and the ...Doobie Brothers . I was pure MAGIC . PK
Great choice Polo, Pat Benatar is deservingly in the RRHOF as she should be with her incredible power and range. She was always in the top 20 with a hit all thruout the most of the 80s as far as I can remember.
@@BrimHawk it'll be your loss. She's received accolades from Lars Ulrich and Metallica after singing with Metallica, Dolly Parton, Robert Plant, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks just to name a few. She receives standing ovations at festivals like Glastonbury with 300,000 fans when she covers rock tunes. If you don't like Miley's rock music covers, you aren't much of a music fan and have no soul for rock. Just my opinion, just like yours.
@@boroblueyes I'm 61, been to dozens of rock concerts. So agreed, no soul for rock, lol. Seen Boston, Triumph, The Cars, The Who, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Guess Who, and plenty of other rock bands. Your supporting list is rather weak, IMO. I would be much more impressed with Miley Cyrus, if she was capable of writing, AND performing her own songs. Playing someone else's music makes you nothing more than a cover artist. I find her extremely underwhelming. Again, as you mention, just an opinion, based on 45 years of attending music and rock concerts.
@@BrimHawk she does write her own music and songs. I'm 66 and been to a helluva lot more concerts than you have, good grief. I've probably been to more Grateful Dead shows than you have concerts. That song is awesome, but I am nearly positive he already reacted to that one. I believe this is the second Pat Benatar reaction video after that one. He loved it btw.

“You better run” the way she hits “head” will give you chills. “Love is a Battlefield” is a must watch video that will make you chuckle just cuz of the time warp of the early 80’s💯
For those of us in the 'old people' category, this was our introduction to her. When that song hit the radio, we knew the void left by the Wilson sisters had been filled with some very capable shoes (stiletto pumps, of course). It had been several years since we had heard a real rocking female. She was tiny. She was cute AF. She was FIERCE. We loved her.
HS grad of 1979 here. Sang in lots of rock bands. She was my Everest! Like Kelly Clarkson and GaGa, in college she studied opera. So fun to watch my daughter sing this in her rock band. Better than me dang it! lolol
I believe this one of her first two big radio hits. and yeah, this got some ENERGY. so far NO ONE has tried to cover it. (except for tribute bands of course)
You nailed it, the guy soloing is now her husband. More bangers are You Better Run, Precious Time, All Fired Up,Everybody Lay Down and Helter Skelter. She will also blow your mind with her more classic vocals on Wuthering Heights and Don't Let it Show. Here's a live version of her covering Crying by Roy Orbison...this is the classic voice not rock voice.
She's made a bunch of great songs and a lot of them have been reacted to on YT. Here's a highly underrated one that rarely gets requested: "Precious Time".
Love her...she was my idol! Still is! Neil is the guitar solo guy! This song hasn't been redone, to my knowledge. There is no one out there to do it justice... The next listen...Hell is for Children
The hellacious lead guitarist in the striped shirt on her left is her husband. Would love to see you do You Better Run. It’s a banger. If you liked the energy in this, you’ll LOVE it too.
Ahh, was in Junior High School and when this came out, we girls wanted to BE Pat Benatar ❤️. By the way, she was an operatic trained singer. Polo has already done Promises in the Dark a month ago. He also did Fire and Ice very recently. Hell is for Children and You Better Run would be good for reaction videos, like you mentioned.
Been a fan since I was very young in the 70s & seen her perform just a couple of years ago & she sounded as good as ever. It was very obvious her & her husband are still madly in love after all these years. Super cute e. It was a great show!
The guy that did the guitar solo is The Man! You are correct. This was the first song we heard from Pat Benatar and we all instantly took notice. Try "You Better Run" and "All Fired Up".
A friend of mine, a great keyboard/piano player, was offered a job touring with two different bands…one with a female lead named Benatar that was going to tour a lot, and the other a local group. He took the job with the local band. PAT BENATAR - became a superstar, the other band dismantled shortly after. I don’t think he got over that decision. I felt so bad, I never talked with him about it again.
