I don’t get the UA-camrs that use cinema cameras to film a UA-cam video. Other than for honing their craft for other projects.

Good vid mate. Samsung S7 for me in the beginning, in 720p as my laptop couldn’t handle anything more. You use the Pocket 3 much? Must admit I love the hassle free GoPro and Media Mod.

I love the gopro quick app. Good for video where you have mainly music and its ai editing is cool. Do you know of any other apps that have a little more customisation? But similar auto editing?

Nice to hear that you've done so much of your filming with just your phone. I've had a channenl for a couple of months now and I enjoy trying to make the videos a bit better each time, but I can't afford to buy any expensive equipment. Maybe I'll get a chance to upgrade at some point, but for now I'll keep going with my Samsung.

I agree on the sound quality if I hear wind eating the mic I turn it off
As long as I can hear the words I'm ok. I turn off off the audio is too low. Sometimes the wind noise is justified if the weather is bad. Adds a bit of atmosphere.

I was struggling making videos with my phone due to a tremor I have, just kept on deleting footage. The Mrs bought me a dji action 3 last month and the rocksteady+ has helped massively. In time I'll get one of those fancy dji wireless mics. Second video goes out tomorrow night at 7 🎉
I don’t think the mic works with the action 3.

I've taken your advice Paul, just got a go pro and then went for a wireless mic. Had a plug and play mic but it kept getting in my shots. Look forward to seeing your editing video as I find that part incredibly time consuming.

A concept on how to setup shots so that your video is dynamic and interesting
A concept of what and how you want to talk about something if you chose to talk at all (i love no voice over content just as much)
A idea of what it is you want to film and the reason why
Lots of patience, editing work and no expectations to ever have someone click on your video
Then start thinking about gear.
I'm at the stage of clicking that record button for the first time. You are right, it takes a bit of bottle to do 🙂

im using an old huawei phone, a ten year old sony action camera from my motorbike and I already had tripods and stuff for my 35mm camera.
Editing is on clipchamp. There are some good bluetooth mics that plug into the phone with muffs.
Im not aiming to make money or anything. It is just something to do when Im confined to the house and a means to share ideas.
This was great. Love your videos. Literally just sat here editing my first video and this popped up. Perfect timing. I’ve just used my iPhone and iMovie to create everything so far but thinking a GoPro will be a great addition. Help to get some timelapses and extra footage. Would definitely be interested in seeing your editing process and workflow 🙌🏼

Paul you are just brilliant , this video may have sparked something. This video has made me try a little video of my own. Always loved wild camping infact camping in general. I have completed several long distance trails now , both with my late Dad and my son always camped. However these may have been physically hard, what I have found harder is talking to a camera. So had a go this last weekend, might only be 4 or 5 mins but seemed like hours! However although basic enjoyed making it. Hopefully watch this space and you never know ! Thank you again for the inspiration.

I only use my phone at the moment!. It has caused problems a cpl of times , I accidentally lost a whole video somehow.. the phone wouldn't pick up the northern lights a few weeks ago... the sound quality is shocking... so I will get a mike... I got an action camera ( from a charity shop for £5 ) and when I put the chip in my phone to edit it,only the audio would be picked up , so another video lost. As you know, you can't just go out camping the next night and re-record everthing... Though I have not given up and my videos are definitely getting better... thanks for your advise .. Take care out there.

All OK when u get given all that kit...would just stick to the phone if I had a channel

I'm retired, what is the minimum I can start with
as he said .... if your phone is up to it, use that and get a little selfie stick . a tripod and a phone holder, and maybe a addon audio solution with a muffler depends also very much what kind of video you want to make , indoors, outdoors ,action or just very stationary.
