    This video gives extra diagnostic techniques not given in the factory repair manual.
    The factory (Bentley) manual is a great resource for diagnosing your car. Very simple diagnostics using a multimeter and simple tools. These cars are great to learn about EFI due to their simplicity.

      @@lucacavallini561 what problem do you have? i also have a 1991 digifant 2, i purchased it thus summer, its my first, doing lots of stuff, tomorrow both fuel pumps arrive, will install and see, mine didnt stay on idle, turned off, one of the pumps wasn't working...

      @@solorider6229 Get a new fuel pump relay while you are at it and keep a spare in the glove box.
      These are a lot of fun to drive and easy to work on.
      I recommend installing the DIGI-Fast computer chip sold by VW-Pilot on eBay. It will be the best $30 you have ever spent on your car. Another youtuber posted a video and review about it. I've been running one for almost 20 years with no issues.
      Have fun with your MK2 project.

    If you have a USA specification car or have a car equipped with a catalytic converter, don't make those adjustments mentioned at 12:05. The UK and many parts of Europe still had leaded gasoline in 1987 and this applies to those cars. Unleaded gasoline enabled car manufacturers to put O2 sensors in the exhaust system and that enables the computer to correct those values continuously.

      hi friend, my golf gti 2000 mk3 from 93, I would like to buy the gunman machine to measure the CO, I wanted to ask you, if I have removed the catalyst, (I have a kind of empty silencer with glass wool, with lamba probe installed, of the supersprint) if on the service manual I get the value to be reached, this is measured with the catalyst installed, if I do not have it, what value should I reach to calibrate the engine well? can I refer to the golf gti 1800 mk2, which does not have a catalyst, but the engine is equal to 95%?

    • @davidparker9676
      @davidparker9676 4 роки тому +3

      @@lucacavallini561 If you have a 1993 MK3, the primary O2 sensor is what adjusts the fuel ratio without regard to the catalyst. If your car has a second O2 sensor after the cat, it is only used to illuminate the check engine light. The second sensor does not affect the fuel mixture, it only checks the operation of the catalyst for diagnostic purposes.

    pretty much the same for Digifant for Vanagon? Particularly the tests for control unit connector?

  • @mrflamewars

    Digifart. My father has a 1987 VW Vanagon with this injection system and he had to build a little diagnostic system in a shoebox with a ribbon cable leading out of it that has a mate soldered onto the ECU.
    Early FI like this that doesn't have any self diagnosis or any way to sanity check the inputs is awful. Stay far, far away.

    I cant fix my digifant 8v Country Syncro. It idles like an idiot until it randomly revs high and low then dies. I think I've replaced everything.
