    Bought this a month ago. The bearings don't glide as smoothly as the video suggests. Ended up getting a replacement for a buzzing sound from the LED. Still got the same issues.
    Definitely check it out in store before you buy.

      Wow, thanks for letting us know. I was interested but the video looks too good to be true. Perhaps the early versions were made without fault but then Dyson probably dumbed down the engineering. Typical.

    04/24/19: To Dyson's credit, they eventually did offer, as an exception to their policy, to replace the broken lamp for free. That is impressive, befits the company and price of the item, and is much appreciated. ORIGINAL: Dear Dyson, I own 2 CSYS desk lampt (both at the time retailed for close to $700 each). The first one just completely stopped working after 4 years. Went through all the steps, talked to customer service. I learned: 1) it is broken, 2) you don't ship for repair, 3) the next authorized service center is over 100 miles away, 4) I am out of luck and "there is nothing we can do." I was urged to upgrade and spend another $400 on a new lamp. With all due respect, that is outrageous. What good is technology and bulbs that supposedly last a lifetime if the damn thing doesn't last 4 years? Please explain why I should ever buy a Dyson product again, thank you.

    I had an opportunity to play around with this and it is quite a joy to use ..something you cant really get just by looking at it . Yes it is definitely over engineered and very masculine ...like all of Dyson's products . However it is very expensive and the LED is integrated . Its a shame its only therefore available to those who can afford it .

      its a fucking light. How could it be worth so much? You can buy much cheaper lights that offer really great features. Like the BYB E430. Amazing light, for much less.

    Can you paint the white one because I’m too cheap to spend the extra money on the black one?

    I really don't believe there was a need for the copper pipe. Realistically, things would've been better had the arm been extruded in a fin-design (heatsink). That copper tube inside is useless past, say, 100mm away from the heat source. By the time any heat makes it to the opposite end of the copper pipe, the LEDs would be on fire.

    it would be better if it would change color

    • @marmite2500
      @marmite2500 5 років тому

      It does change colour temperature according to the light outside and links with the circadian cycle of the body ...however we dont all work like that

  • @ronronchau
    @ronronchau 7 років тому +2

    that frame cost less than 30USD, with 2 V-slot/T-slot extrusion, plus 10USD
    and the yellow white LEB bulb cost around 10USD, no inefficient long distance heat pipe need
    the control board control with the a Made in China controller, est. 25USD with touch sensors
    damn, where's the another 2XX dollar tho?

    I could buy a lot of bulbs for £399 ... dam that's expensive for a bit of aluminium

    Thank god they have that heat pipe in there, cause god knows those LED's are gonna burn you... #Sarcasm

      You'd be surprised. You're probably just used to shitty LEDS. I have an LED flashlight that has a heat warning engraved on the side, and came with a fire hazard warning slip in the box. It literally has a safety mode that you need to disengage before it'll go to full power, in case it starts a fire.

  • @ambiva

    Over-engineered and gimmicky, heat pipe is never needed for the current LED chips. At this low power, most newer chips can achieve L90B10 > 100,000 hrs with little heat sink.
