Hey man I’m trying to do the same swap. Did you use the 2.5 injectors? Did you use the 2.5 harmonic balancer and oil pan?

A 302 out of a mustang or explorer fits pretty easy

Yes, like Fred Ford said, 5.0l fits along with many other engines, depending on your skill level.

302 is one of the easiest, if you want a standard transmission, get one out of a f150 with the 4.2 v6, it bolts right up, if you want auto, just get it out of a explorer or mustang or f 150 that had the 5.0. If your ranger has the 7.5 inch rear end, get rid of it and get a 8.8. The 302 will destroy it

@@fredford2274 easiest would be working with you already have. He said the 2.5 are plug and play except for a couple little things . 302 would be if he wanted to do it for fun. The 2.5 is logical.
