Roger(SMITH) is still alive and married to the writer Lady Pink of Style Wars fame. Many writers such as JA continue to throw up SANE so it's not uncommon to see a fresh looking sane or Smith tag. Graffiti is the most important artistic movement of the last 50 years. These writers deserve to be documented like any notable artist should be.
The Vanderveer projects had locked basements and a parking garage just like this. Around 2016/17 when they were adding laundry rooms to every basement they whipped them all clean. I'll try to dig up some pictures I took before they were all painted over.

Probably a old train station concourse village was build over that in the mid sixties that scafolding & bus wasnt there back when i did those pieces & most of those tags werent either there were no tags inside that building at all not sure exact date but it was summer of 1972 or 73..

Hey that Brian 1 is Brian 183 a nice friend of mine I met back in 1973 he used to tag the red birds like crazy. Super nice guy. I wonder how he's doing. From PEL do it well. Dime2 and Sly5 176 from the Bronx are now in Florida. FB as Tony Mach.
THis is the painful part about graffiti , it will soon be gone, the history will be gone. Some names will live on the internet forever, but the physical artwork will be gone. Look at Korn1, he did over 10,000 tags all over NYC, little by little it is going away. RIP KORN1 (my childhood legend)

Super Kool 223..Phase 2..and Stay High 149..in the early 70s where the biggest Graffiti artists on the New York city transit line walls occasionally .. Clyde and Mykal 182 had the busses on lock..I was there..all facts

Those Clyde, FDT56 and YAZ56 are from the very early 70s! P.S. the vintage MCI transit bus should be restored too!
