The Rangers are fascinating as they are just normal people fighting for what they believe in, going against technologically superior forces in the Brotherhood, and winning. That kind of willpower is scary.
I wouldn't say they're "just normal people" -- they're the best of the best and most experienced operatives on the NCR. They're people that have proved they can survive and overcome the harshest environments and still do their job. Not superhuman, but way, way above the average human that roams around in the Fallout world.
And the video makes it sound like they're descended from Texas Rangers. Nope! Park Rangers!
@@emmanuel1337 When I said normal people, I'm talking about them not being bred for war or destined for greatness. They are just soldiers with skill and commitment. Anyone can be a Ranger, few become as renowned as the best of them. That's what I mean.
Even in the Rangers, there are difference bewteen NCR Rangers and The Elite Rangers (The Desert Rangers)
If you've got the guts, skill, commitment, and wits, even the most humble citizen of the NCR can join the Rangers.
“This seems like a cool faction
…
wait taxes?!”
The Legion may have slaves, but the NCR has taxes, the worst kind of slavery.
"Fuck the NCR!"
We won't go quietly. The Legion can count on that
😎💪
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
It should be noted, something that the series doesn't go out of their way to explain, but the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) is a module capable of localized terraforming.
Fallout 76 has an entire zone that is an example of what happens when a G.E.C.K. malfunctions. Ironically, it's not entirely Vault-Tec's fault it did so.
NCR veteran rangers may not have the best technology but they have the best drip. NCR ranger combat armor is among some of my favorite armor sets in the Fallout universe
[Intelligence 1] Anti material rifle go boom.
Yeah unfortunately the NCR got stopped due to geography and them facing Caesar’s Legion really halted their advance east. The second battle of Hoover dam changed all of it. Helios one does actually exist out somewhere near Las Vegas. It’s the largest solar energy collector on the west coast and currently powers Las Vegas and part of LA. Currently a government site owned by a power company. Hoover dam also powers Las Vegas but due to its less than stellar water supply in the last couple of years it’s mostly become a backup to a backup. All thanks to the horrible rainfall and the Colorado River being so used up.
and the more that our resources get spent, the closer we are to the same fate that befell the world of Fallout. and what makes that even scarier, is we dont have any vaults to run to, if bad turns to worse...
heed my words; if the shit ever hits the fan, get at least 51 miles from civilization.
@@UltimateGamerCCyou sure we dont have any vaults
pretty sure@@trappestarrgaming3422
one thing i love about The Storyteller's videos is he's using the Fallout OST as he's narrating it, such a great touch for those familiar with the soundtrack. the NCR are very much the good guys, or at least as close to as someone from the wasteland is gonna get. sadly though, they suffer the same problems that we today have to endure, and that is a hierarchy that lacks empathy, growing colder and more corrupt the more time that marches on. it's tragic to think that simple comforts can make someone grow power hungry.
The voice actor who plays the narrator/Storyteller in Shoddycast's videos is great. Wish he did other roles in gaming.
The NCR is my favorite faction in any of the games. I just love the image of the survivors banding together, dedicated to order and to civilize the wastes, one conquest at a time.
And unlike other factions they even allowed Super mutants and ghouls to live in their cities in relative peace despite some bigotry. They feel like one of the few factions actually trying to heal the world of Fallout
nah ave true to caesar
Fuck taxes.
I would Helios their ass again if I could.

Fallout player and fan here. Like watching along with you guys, I've never seen these before so learning more myself 👍
Enjoy! I remember binging these so hard when I found them.
Oh nice! Happy to hear you’re going for the ride on this journey with us 😀
THE Vault dweller is the main character you play as in fallout 1
the Vault dweller is responsible for stopping the Master from taking over the wasteland with super mutants.
😎👍🙂
The most impressive part of the NCR is their population: around 700,000. That is just astonishing for a post-apocalyptic civilization.
and it's a real problem in such a world, if you cant support that many mouths with food easily, you're just asking for a second apocalypse.
Bethany kinda hits the nail on the head with the "History repeats itself, even in the post-apocalyptic." _That_ is literally what Fallout was about originally. Hence the tag-line: "War Never Changes."
It's why The Protagonists end up using nuclear devices to eliminate both 'The Children of the Cathedral' and 'The Enclave' in the original games. (Bethesda just never picked up on that little detail, which is why we get to throw nukes around all willy-nilly in _their_ versions of Fallout. And why the overarching theme falls apart after F2.)
Every time I watch a video of yours, I'm feeling like I'm right in the chair (or living room, or cozy whatever-you-wanna-call-your-nerdy-area) with you :D
This is why I love you :) don't ever listen to any haters. I've been following you for a while and can tell that you're genuine. Which is what makes you all the more loveable.
Could solve it easily with another dam a few miles up river, but noooo! Environmentalists won't let us easily solve the problem. Currently 95% of rain water just goes straight into the ocean unused, just make a new reservoir.
🥰🤗 Thanks so much for the kind words. The feeling of hanging out with us and watching along is what we hope for. ☺️
In the NCR there are 2 kind of Rangers, The NCR Rangers are the Best of the NCR but at some point, the True Elite Rangers joined the NCR, the Organization know as The Desert Rangers those guys are decendents of the Texas Rangers, The Desert Rangers were so badass that they were slowing Cesar's legion For years before joining the NCR
riley's rangers are the only true rangers lol
yeah - this series REALLY makes you want and need that next chapter with well placed cliffhangers - and what more, each part is dedicated to one subject so it does not overwhelm you with bits across the franchise
Yup. They laid it out very well 🤩
Can't wait for Mr. House
The House Always Wins.
7:11 If you remember from the last video, these are the Deathclaws made by the Enclave that could think and speak like normal people.
The Rangers are the embodiment of patriotism. They volunteer because they believe in the dream of the nation, and they fight to keep the dream alive.
The moment you all hear 'But that is a story for another day.' cracks me up every time
They are so damn good at those cliffhangers 😝
I thought there would be more about the NCR. I wonder if they left anything out, or if Fallout simply hasn’t fleshed them out too much. They are such a large nation by Fallout’s standards, and even by real world standards, that I expected more history.
NCR rangers are absolute monsters. Their military tech may not be as advance, but their anti-material rifles can easily tear through Brotherhood, and Enclave power armor.
The New Vegas era NCR is in a weird place that there is not really much to talk about. No weird ideologies,no cooky power structure -they are what they seem to be: a provincial government in post apocalyptic America. What we know of cities like Shady Sands, Vault City and New Reno from Fallout 1 and 2 is ancient history at this point in universe.
Huge fan of the NCR, get ready for the legion!!
You two should definitely watch the Shoddycast fallouts laser and plasma weapons don't make sense
Because Austin will make you laugh beyond comprehension trust me. And yes Fallout has soooooo much lore and factions etc etc, why I love series like this, Oxhorn and TheNthapple so much they're amazing content creators and have taught even me a seasoned fallout lover alot.
The NCR had one of the greatest scientists mr fantastic
Fallout new Vegas as a whole gives you this feeling of being a Wild West gunslinger, drifting from town to town. It’s amazing.
Well with Helios 1 it's 2 nations with opposing ideals. That branch of the Brotherhood absoultly doesn't trust people with tech so an orbital death laser is kind of out of the question. Which I get, the NCR would totally use the orbital death laser to crush their enemies if they knew about it, so they have a point. But really current NCR and the Brotherhood just didn't have any motivation to work together on that one until the bullets and lasers started flying.
Please react more frequently to these; I love them and it's absolutely great seeing you learn about Fallout lore. It's my favorite franchise. Far out.
Glad that you are enjoying them. Right now on this channel this is the series we react to the most frequently as we do not weekly every Thursday 😀
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
Can you guys do more fudgemuppet elder scrolls videos?
Yes!!!
They said they are more invested in the fallout storyline sadly, maybe they will who knows.
So glad your continuing and enjoying this series! Looking forwards to more reactions of it!
Every Thursday 🥳🥳
I've played this game many times but hearing it summarized like this is really something.
same, just like Mods, keeping the spirit of Fallout alive and well. i pray that the franchise sees better days with Fallout 5, rather than decaying into a Feral Ghoul.
I hope you explore the stories of some characters of Fallout, specialy this one, Fallout New Vegas, it has some of the most "interesting" stories that can make out a series or movie hahaha, like the story of Randall Clark and The Sorrows, man, that one is big one.
I'm incredibly excited to see this series of reactions continue!
Every Thursday 😀🥳🙂
Fallout New Vegas is one of the best FO games out there, if not THE best! It features an epic struggle of three factions, the NCR, the Legion and *REDACTED*. A game full of player choices (and still I always choose NCR), a RPG on my top 10 list of the best games of all time.
The NCR may be corrupt and mishandled, but giving up on it instead of helping to FIX it is worse.
The NCR needs heroes, men and women of virtue, to lead people into a better future. An NCR-aligned Courier can do a lot of good things, if you try to get the best possible outcomes.
@@devranyilmaz9806 the problem with that is; can it truly be virtuous, if we are helping history to repeat itself? idk, i dont think anyone should have that much power, not in the Fallout world, nor here.
@@UltimateGamerCC Who said the NCR must PERFECTLY emulate the Old-World? Keep certain things, discard others.
That’s how you improve things.
Discarding a good idea just because of a few faults is pretty foolish.
Iron out the faults.
@@devranyilmaz9806 lol yeah ok, even though things will end up going right back to how it was, the signs are already there. power corrupts, and the more power that there is to obtain, the more that corruption will exist. the NCR needs to stay in Cali and let other tribes create their own societies in the other states, uniting all under one banner even with good intentions will only lead to disaster.
I always really enjoy listening to Bethany's philosophical approaches. I get like that too with my brother, but I think he hates it 😅.
Well you can feel free to philosophize here freely 😊🤗
All that Rangers talk and can't even kill a mailman.
the ncr will make sure the irs are an eternal fixture to humanity
...and that's why i only go NCR on Hero runs, because otherwise, it's better that they stay in Cali.
The NCR didn't know about the space laser from the Sun thing and Helios One you actually meet a follower of the Apocalypse that explains they don't know about Archimedes that sun laser thing
The NCR may not be perfect but its my favorite faction in all of Fallout. I almost always side with them in my playthrough's of Fallout New Vegas (easily the best first person fallout game).
I need more of these, and More Frequently...
A reaction to the Senile Scribbles could be fun, anyone else?
Jesse we need to cook Jet
Ave, true to Caesar…
He disappeared looking for his friend the vault dweller 🫤🥲
oh man, the storyteller series got me crying in nostalgia haha
Love the content!
While I like the ncr it’s crazy how much in New Vegas you see the NCR trying to bring back the “old ways” during the battle of Helios NCR lost lot of soldiers to the brotherhood of steel but the brotherhood of steel sabotage the NCR money of gold at one point which cause them to go back to the bottle caps
While I do agree with the NCR at times there are good people that want to help them others out there but their are others who are just so corrupt that this is what happened to world of fallout
Also I wished the desert ranger were a different faction kinda like the game wasteland(which is the spiritual success to fallout)
This was fire 🔥
Fun fact the NCR do not discriminate against ghouls but do to talking mutants
After this and next episode of the Storyteller I highly recommend you to react to the video "Unstoppable moron makes nuclear wasteland noticeably worse | Fallout New Vegas" by Russian Badger. It's amazing and fun video, you're gonna love it!
Ken, you should get the bright pink button up shirt that says “juicy” on the back that Vegeta wore in that one episode of dragon ball abridged. I think team four star used to have it on their website.
I've been watching your vids for a while and noticed that occasionally there were drinks, but I seem to be lacking some context.
This is only for Fallout and Fallout themed drinks?
Did you guys buy them somewhere or are they online recipes?
Love the new game choices!
I just wanted to recommend Rainimator's animated Minecraft music video series. There is a nice story and very good animation combined with some nice tunes.
they also forgot mention vegas is independent even tho ncr have control alot of navada vegas is ran by a private compony and protected by robots
thats personaly my choice faction
new vegas lets u chose between
ncr
the independent economic zone of vegas (either under mr house or take it over yourself
legion (next episodes faction )
NCR Rangers are my favorite archetype in the series, that being said can't wait for y'all to understand the villainy that is the Legion. Ave, true to Caesar.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of fallout 3 and New Vegas, but nowadays at 33 I'd rather hear and see reactions to videos games I've played. Haha
Best faction of the series IMO
13:48 it's like they say, " history is written by the victors", there's a theory floating around that maybe sometimes all the lore of Falout doesn't exactly line up with each other sometimes, because of that fact, and the victors usually are unreliable narrators pushing their own line of propaganda and propping their said faction up as virtuos heroes, The Enclave is a great example of that in just how they caused the current state of the world and have the audacity to try to step back in as the powers that be with no accountability for the past. I would rather side with Super Mutants,Ghouls, and Raiders than side with The Enclave, and in game when I run across them, they die, always lol.
I would love to see you too play Fallout New Vegas by far the best Fallout game in my opinion
Oh I hope you guys react to Story Tellers animated (in game) series.
More Skyrim lore
Whilst the Rangers most likely DID help in the battle at Helios One, they weren't really THE deciding factor at the battle like this video makes it seem like. The actual deciding factor was that the NCR outnumbered the Brotherhood by a factor of 15 to 1, not even the Brotherhood can win against those odds.
Guys, watch Marvel Hishe Volume 3 😁.
The NCR was "what if everybody just got along" which has historically proven itself to not actually ever be a thing for more than the luxury and food lasts.
damn NCR ... only the legion can work
true to Caesar
after ceasers legion please react to russian badgers video called "UNSTOPPABLE MORON MAKES NUCLEAR WASTELAND NOTICEABLY WORSE" Fallout: New Vegas
everybody in the comments fanboying NCR/Legion, like the franchise isn't set in a world ruined by zealous loyalty
House or Free Reign?
are you going to play Fallout?
The Desert Rangers are a bit more stronger then what the storyteller gives them credit for, thou this story isnt about them.
=D
react to oxhorns fallout 4 lore content
Oxhorn's content is great for all the games, huge recommend.
I like the NCR as one of my favorite factions, but at the same time hate them due to embracing too many of the old world value's and systems.
Like many of the rangers will tell you in the game, most of the higher ups in the NCR are too preoccupied with political games and drowning their subordinates in paperwork to ever get anything meaningful done.
playing through Fallout 1 and 2, you sort of develop a fondness for these guys... all the way to the littlest side quest in those 2 games help build them up from a small struggling village in the middle of a wasteland to a legit nation that practically returned their part of America into its pre-war state...
oh and Vault City's this kind of place where everyone inside the inner walls are a bunch of stuck-up jerks who look down on people around them that they deem unworthy and would resort to some rather twisted methods to get what they want, a latter quest involving them actually would have you figure a way to have them mellow the hell out and share their tech with the NCR, essentially
