If he can regain his previous form, he could not only be a potential 20-game winner with the Dodgers but also the ace of the staff - while still hitting 50 home runs as a full-time DH. As a full-time starting pitcher in 2021 he hit 46 home runs while not being able to hit in any National League parks or after he had left the mound. Secondly, being a sensational 2 way player is the defining characteristic of what makes Ohtani who he is - this is his dream and his legacy, and no manager or GM is stupid enough to try and kill the golden goose. I guarantee they won't try to do that - if they did Ohtani would not accept it and demand a trade. If the time comes for him to stop pitching it will be his decision and his only.

Hey Rob, go and look at the footage of all his steals for this season. He beats most of the tags by a mile. Even under the old rule he would have stolen over 50. ‘Pizza boxes” only adds 1” to the size of the original bases. 2” advantage from base to base is only a split second. Ohtani would still have over 50/50. Rob doesn’t talk about the higher competition in pitching, where more pitchers are throwing 100+mph with higher spin rate. That makes it harder to hit more home runs.
