  • For today's video I offer my tips that have helped me to travel smoothly with my cello over many different flights. With summer music festivals approaching & college auditions in the fall, I want to ensure you dolls are prepped for successful trips! For this first part, I will cover how to purchase tickets for yourself & your cello and how to prepare your cello & luggage for the trip. Plus I will cover some real life instances where I learned from my mistakes (so you don't have to)! For the upcoming Part 2 we will cover what to expect during the day of your flight and how to make your journey through the airport as smooth as possible!
🌟 Here is the United States Department of Transportation's page on traveling with a musical instrument: www.transportation.gov/aircon....
🌟 For the PDF on the federal final ruling, visit this link and scroll down to the last page. This is the document I'd highly recommend having multiple copies of: www.transportation.gov/sites/...
🌟 Please note that these tips & documents are specifically for domestic flights within the US and that you need to research the flight regulations when traveling to a different country. 🌟

I feel fortunate for playing a violin ;)

Haha yes, thankfully violins usually have a spot in an overhead bin if you get an early boarding number! When traveling in the US though, you'd only be allowed a carry-on bag for under your seat, since your violin gets your overhead bin spot.

Thank you very helpful! I'm looking forward to your video about your electric "small" Cello. How is traveling with that?

Great question! So thankfully, due to the NSD's compact design, it's about the size of a viola when it's in its case. That way I'm able to fit my electric cello in the overhead bin without having to buy a seat for it.
