I get that all the carts crashing opened the door to the lesson of not to live vicariously through your little sister, but I still would've loved to see the Crusaders hop into other carts (Apple Bloom with Dashie, Sweetie Belle with A.J., and Scootaloo with Rarity) and none of the older ponies noticed until each had won in their coveted category. At which point all 3 are disqualified because none of the carts were designed, built or driven by the young ponies.

To the question of how Scootaloo got up to Rainbow Dash's house, if you look carefully at the establishing shot you'll see a hot air balloon parked at the edge of the cloud.
I bet if Twilight Spike and the others were in this episode they would've been so mad with their friends since they could've gotten seriously hurt or even hospitalized only with worse injuries and boo boos.
It was a combination of technical difficulties, a myriad of real life responsibilities, preparing for and going to the Grand Brony Gala and I'll admit in my shame that I had a few days of lethargy.
