Ngl, even fighting against lvl 9 CPUs is better practice than Quickplay or Elite Smash. I don't really play much Ult anymore, but most of my practice came from labbing to improve execution, playing against CPUs to practice scenarios, and playing my friends in arenas to put my practice to the test and improve my adaptation. Then, after high school, whenever I would go to the student life center in my university to play Ultimate, I met even more people to play with, some good, some bad. A lot of people told me I was probably one of the best Peach players in the local scene and that I should go to tournaments. A few even said I could probably win a local. Unfortunately, I didn't really have the time or means, and eventually I switched to Melee. But yeah, like you said, battle arenas are absolutely the best method of practicing online.
Level 9 CPUs take up a good 80% of my practice time. I rarely play online because Nintendo netcode is bleh at best, but most of my practice comes from CPUs or my friends in battle arenas. To this day, I am still seeing rapid improvement with how I play, whether it be with reflexes, flowchart, or adaptation, and I don’t hit plateaus as commonly as I used to. Mew2King had a similar thing in Melee where he would just play in Training Mode for hours to practice his execution against level 1 CPUs. This is probably a hot take by a landslide, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is, but imo practicing against CPUs is the second best practice method behind going to locals and fighting actual players.
Great video. Solid advice. Discrediting elite smash tho is iffy for me. I’m at 14.85 with my main/co-main. Sometimes I use ES for consistency of combos and inputs rather than trying to learn adaptation. I think it’s a perspective approach that makes ES work
Everything you said you can do in ES can be done in a battle arena to far much benefit, but I do agree you can still learn from ES. I just don't think it's as effective as going into a battle arena against someone you can chat with and then asking questions while better learning playstyles.
OMG TY so much!!! I love this gidence in how to improve. There are so much stuff I never considered here and all elite smash taught me was fundys and not how to take advantage of my opponent. Recently I went to my local and lost to only ken and need going 2-2. Now I know how to improve on it thanks to this vid. TY again
Good video but I completely disagree with tip #1. Elite Smash is the best practice you can get. Unless you’ve been playing competitively since smash 4, you need elite smash to improve.
One and dones are just not as effective umless you're already at the top my dog. Not being able to get a consistent partner is just not good no matter how you put it. It's just easy for you to say Elite Smash is good because you're already farming people lol. I never improved an ounce playing on Elite and then switched to Arenas and now I'm making top placements. Maybe it just depends on the person but there's a reason why Elite is hated so much in comparison to Arenas
@ You need to be able to win one and dones. It forces you to adapt quickly. I understand that tournaments are sets but its not like top players are dropping games to everyone because they need time to adapt. I really think you should give elite smash another shot. Instead of seeing one and dones as bad practice, think of it as challenging your on the fly adaptation.

Tip #2 is super important and I'm glad you talked about it. Grinding out bad MUs is only gonna help you in the long run :D

Based advice. Great content 🗡️
First. Anyways the first advice is actually very useful (and funny) lol. Good job on the video
Great video
Good video! You should make one on how to grind matchups
Yooo great idea! I'll be sure to give you a shoutout!
Great video!
🙏
New sub!
Yay! Thank you!
@@Spyder-Marth no problem! i'm not a corrin or marth main but i love them ^^
I don't think Wolf has really bad matchups but a lot of them require outplaying and being better than the opponent
I wanna do battle arenas but they so laggy bruh
