Might as well protect from gross sunburns while still being hot, according to yall 🙄🙄👊🏻
We in India wear full clothes at the beach coz it's culturally inappropriate to wear bikini in public places. U can see men in formal office wear n women in jeans, salwar suit, grannies. In saree in the water.
Why are people SO judgemental about sleeves at the beach? I've had so many negative comments about my outfit wearing a plain blue upf shirt and hat at the shore. I wet the shirt and the breeze felt so cool on my skin!😌 I feel like I'm in on some secret.. and the judgemental people can just BURN! 🥵
😂😂😂😂 i think anyone should do as they please, I don’t enjoy the long sleeves but they are great for protection, I dont burn in the sun either, im always on a sunbed, reapply that sunscreen and wear a hat, people can go judge their own life
Depends on the person, honestly. Lots of folks can take it but factors like being pale, recovering from skin cancer, taking meds that increase UV sensitivity - all make covering up a good idea. (And you can still swim! Rash guards, board shorts, swim skirts, other options exist)
I wear a long sleeve rashguard. My kids also wear board short and long sleeve rashguard and a wide brim hat. My daughter has a uv skirt that covers her thighs and we play in the waves all day !
And everyone at the beach stares at you like you’re crazy, unless you’re smart enough to go to a beach in Vietnam where everyone but the tourists has the sense to cover up.
10 minutes every other day is more than enough for someone with lighter skin. But the UV index is stronger at the beach because of the rays bouncing off the water. You should never be without proper sun protection while at the beach.
I spend 15 -20 minutes a day in the sun to get in Vitamin D and bright light, then apply sunscreen afterwards. My skin can tolerate 20 minutes. If you're very light you might only tolerate 5 - 10 minutes. I take additional Vitamin D Drops. Bright light for 20 minutes is very important for hormonal health and is anti depressant. So no sunglasses and no hat for at least 20 minutes a day.
except your hand is exposed. i know cause I just turned 70 and look way younger till you see my hands. Did use sunscreen but not often enough. When my arms were covered I often forgot about my hand
Sorry, but I can’t cover up with long sleeves at the beach, that doesn’t make for a fun beach day. If you workout a lot, that’s the time to show off your body! & you need a little bit of Vit D
There is no evidence suggesting that sunscreen use prevents vitamin D absorption nor causes any type of vitamin D insufficiency, she has quite a few videos on it if you're interested!
You get most of your vitamin D from your diet and the slightest bits of sun exposure. You don’t need to lay in the sun to get it. And the sun’s rays also come through windows and hit you that way. Wearing sun protective clothing and sunscreen can actually make your body more efficient at vitamin D synthesis because it aids in keeping the damaging effects of UV ray at bay
She has a video addressing this exact question. I used to wonder the exact same thing, but I don’t worry about it any more. ua-cam.com/video/C6Sn5aP4JSc/v-deo.htmlsi=AW3dbima57rhDk0z
Yes because what is life if you don’t enjoy the beach and soak in a little sun. Even with all her care, she still looks 40 and if I had to guess, has used other means at her disposal to keep her skin looking great. Should we bake in a tanning bed or layout daily in the sun? Probably not but 20 minutes of sun a day is great to increase vitamin d levels and an hour at the beach won’t kill u.
@@psingleton7955she looks 40…because she is in her 40s lol 😅 she’s a derm…lots of school and stress to get to her level Also, usually people are at the beach for more than an hour. Therefore that is adequate sun protection

Most traditional sunscreen is a hard no. Look at all the chemicals listed and look into how they’re linked to cancer. Consider how your skin is your largest organ and that those chemicals are just soaking right in. Basically by sunscreen or sun you’re damned either way. Unless, you take a page from the past and simply cover up. Avoid sun at peak times and wear covering, breathable clothing. I just invested in driving gloves to prevent “drivers arm”. If you have to use sunscreen, opt for zinc/mineral based.
