You were a week early - lots of autumn colour now and no children. I stopped parking in Dalby in the 80's when they upped the entry fee from £1.50. Nowdays I park at Ellerburn Church (for the southern forest) or the Hole of Horcum car park (for the north). It's a 2 mile walk from the Hole to the Bridestones, but there are other photographic opportunities along Old Wife's Way. By the way, it is North York Moors.
Another great mixture of good advice and beautiful photos sprinkled with the odd dash of daftness. The verticals/horizontals tip towards the end is a useful one. Nine pounds to park in a forest - that's outrageous! Most places like that here DownUnder are free. A local council was going to charge for parking at a beach in its area and the public outcry soon stymied that idea. Belated many HRs by the way. Ah, fifty. I vaguely remember being that.
Only said today autumn seams to have gone by quick as most the trees have dropped their leaves! Been taking photos for the last 10 years as a hobbie, started close to the age your are now makes me almost 60! I used to get up early, stay late to try and get the shot. I've gone passed that now. I just enjoy getting out at a time/day that suits me, the enjoyment comes from being open minded to what you might see to photograph not what you set out to get. In other words more laid back, which I feel came across in your vlog, love your arty photos. Enjoy the rest of autumn, might last longer than we think.
There is an abundance of Brit landscape photographers, but I’m not sure there are many, if any, who can explain themselves as well as you do without the puffery of emotion that is huge in the UA-cam community. Not only that, I think landscape is only one part of your skill set, I’d enjoy more, as I’m sure you have plenty to offer. I loved this video. The horizontal/vertical composition advice was 100% goodness. Keep them coming. Cheers.
You always do it. When I think I've lost my artistic mojo you produce a vlog that can only inspire. So it got me out today with a challenge of capturing Autumn before it's over. Thank you very much!
You nailed it with this autumn colors. More often than not the difficulty I face is the trees against a bright patches of sky between the trees. This doesn’t look good with a burned out sky. You nailed it in terms of isolating the autumn tree with more trees in the background so there is no harsh contrast. 👍🏻
Wow 50 Craig you don't look a day over love the colours in your woodland shots! You know what you like at that comes through in the images, cheers matey.
It's comforting to see that I'm not alone in leaving the "chasing" behind. I'm now almost always shooting during daylight. After all thats the time most of us are experiencing the outdoors.
Thanks for another excellent video. I don't think you have really given up on autumn thank goodness, but I do appreciate you sharing your new vision and look forward to hearing and seeing how it develops. This is just a thought, but I actually sometimes find I like the video part of your vlogs as much as the stills. Water and waterfalls always gain an extra dimension with movement and sound. Maybe another direction to pursue?
Another thoroughly enjoyable video Craig many thanks, like the move away from the "calendar" type shots and into the much more "introspective" real world kind of thing, hope you understand what I'm trying to get across.
Good to see you going with your gut feeling Craig and not repeating the same old. I was interested in your comments about vertical and horizontal formats for the trees, makes sense to me .
Nice vlog Craig, and cracking image of Staindale Lake with mist. That’s my stomping ground, the colours at the moment are outstanding. Been up there this morning (Saturday 2nd) like the thought process of composition with light and lines of the trees. Anyway £54 annual pass so I get to go everyday, when I’m not at work.
Glad you got your transport sorted. I do get the use of soft grads but as I am fairly clumsy it would cost me a fortune in filters and without a level arrisen would still have to dodge and burn to make things right. That's just a personal thing and now lightroom as added luminosity to the graduated filter i get reasonable results. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next episode. All the best............Peter.
Sometimes it is like "to miss the forest for the trees" but you did! Very nice pictures and a motivation for me to grab my camera and go out in the woods. Thanks for the video.
Craig, I have been a fan, and follower, of yours for well over 3 years! I live in Atlanta, but will be in London on November 11 for at least one week. If you will be in the Capital City, I would love to have a beer, or several, with you. I hope to hear from you! Sean
Good to see another OMD vlogger :) I was going to go there tomorrow as well. I really enjoy your thought process. 50 never :) Cheers. I'm 56 and have no beard.

Now you are in the autumn of your days.......Men of a certain age eh! As long as you're reaching milestones in your local graveyard and not headstones then there's time to look for different challenges, which it sounds like you're needing. All you need is to buy a motorbike and you've hit your MLC full on. Look for Woodland Trust car parks, I think they're still free. The council ones are rip -offs. Nice shots, great vlog.
Enjoyed the video and your reflections on how your photography style is changing. Could you tell me the name/model of your backpack? Looked very well suited to m43 gear.
Okay, at around the three minute mark you mention bearded UA-camrs and so on. You say you have your own reasons for doing this. You don't say what that is. So, why do you do this? I'm really curious to know. Also, are you planning to grow a beard?

What colour settings do you use ? or is it the natural colour setting for Olympus, as I really like the tones you produce here, very nice

Carl Hunter Roach oh Carl, I’m disappointed! You’re obviously not watching all my vlogs!! It was mentioned on my last trip to the Peak District.
@@e6Vlogs I'm obviously not paying enough attention to your gear talk either :)
Lovely simple work. And a podcast you say? Interesting. Daft question I know, buy is that jacket actually waterproof? Am thinking of buying it.
runninblue Splashproof maybe! I’d wear a different jacket in heavy rain.
Good to see you back but all that talk of verticals and horizontals gave me vertigo! Wonderful images by the way.
I like your sense of humour, lol
"my local graveyard" LOL!
You see a water hole, I see "foreground interest".
Happy birthday to You ! 🎂
And be assured that You don't look older than 49 3/4 😆
"Nifty fifty" what's that in micro 4/3s years?
palouuk nifty twenty five. Doesn’t really rhyme.
palouuk Try 17mm(34mm) and 20mm(40mm) in MFT also. Had a nifty fifty in my film days, but no longer.
Did anyone actually manage to get my crap joke ?
palouuk ah so Craig being an Oly shooter is 25 😂
Oh, so using M4/3 keeps you looking young?! Must be that amazing IBIS. Reduces all the wrinkles!
It's so refreshing seeing someone avoiding all the cliches you see on YT these days...Let's ditch the stupid B-rolls and you'll be perfect ;)
Indeed, you look much younger - not a day over 49.5 :-) Nice shots though!
No way this 50 something is going to grow and beard and film himself. Keep up the good work
Facebook should fix this as looking for searching for Canadian Landscape photography
New or second hand?
Clive Ellis What me?!...oh, do you mean the car? New. 5 weeks delay with it stuck at Liverpool port!
@@e6Vlogs yea, the car, just wondered how much money is in photography!

Car full drops to £5 in November for a few months pal.
Joe Simpson yes, i did see that. I went a week too early!

have noticed how photographers have realized their vidios are more entertaining than the pics they are taking ?????

£9??????? I thought the Lake District was expensive. Free coffee and bacon buttie?
