@@12rsz That never was an any major issue with Comodo selling your data as far as im aware. If you use Windows 10 at the first place then you shouldn't complain about any AV company that likely sells your data. Same with Facebook, Instagram or shitty chinese Tiktok shit, people use social media 8 hours per day and their personal info was likely sold 10 years ago

Based on my personal testing, F-Secure can detect and stop unknown ransomware early, but it cannot prevent one or two files from being encrypted, nor can it restore them. This would explain the result you obtained by executing many ransomware samples. Cheers!

So far Kaspersky has met all those requirements, but I feel uneasy having a Russian based product protecting my entire household.
I have no qualms about Kaspersky as an American and former Cold Warrior. If Kaspersky slipped in a back door, I’m sure it be uncovered and kaspersky would be ruined in the AV industry. So, Kaspersky will stay on my desktop. If Putin wants to put in the hours for Elden Ring by hacking my desktop, maybe he’ll withdraw from the Ukraine?

It depends on how much files you have. You can also change the settings in some AV products like kaspersky you can choose to disinfect or just block threats. It just depends.
Hi Leo, This is a very impressive AV if not mistaken you didn't move certain files in the ransomware protection area which is why I believe it got encrypted. What I especially notice is that you can see the engine history updates and F-Secure uses 11 separate engines and if I'm not mistaken the Hydra engine is the Bitdefender that implemented in the Product.

I don’t think throwing a load of binaries at a machine via a script is much of a test for modern malware. You need fileless and obfuscation at a minimum. Plus some custom payloads.
the id protection is definitely the weakest out of all of them, not user friendly at all, the vpn is fine tho its lacking in terms of parts of the world you can connect to (no russia for example)
Partially agree. F-S is not that bad but its self protection is very weak. When we killed the F-S process through Task Manager, the main UI and scan functionality would crash. The developer is aware of the problem, but they appear to have no plans to improve F-S's self-protection abilities.

They use a multitude of definitions, among them Bitdefenders but also inhouse and from other vendors.
They are not using Bitdefender since 2 years now. The main cloud engine is Avira.
