Hey Chrome just a word of advice from a long time mechanic, the best thing you could do is put that battery in a marine box so the posts cannot be shorted out and fasten the box down so it can't bounce around and punch a hole in it.
I know you're clear that this is not a "how to" video, but you discuss things so clearly and sensibly and showing what you've done really makes me feel like I could do it myself! Thank you!
Good info if your van is done properly there is no reason why someone else can't do it too! This was so easy to understand, I want to put an isolated in my car since I will be starting out that way!
The fact that you have a breaker at both ends of the power to the battery definitely means that you've been listening to someone. I'm glad you passed that on in your video, UA-cam good advise for a change. That's also why I've shifted over to UA-cam is the advise I've seen on it that people were following
SAFETY ITEM ……..Secure the battery with a top strap in case of an accident ( roll over )…..100 pounds of battery can do a lot of damage.... First phase of my van build was running 37 circuits and 3 fuse panels ……Complete 12 volt AND inverter circuits AND 120 shore power to 4 corners ….AND 300 watts of solar...…….I get a chuckle at how simply you have done yours..... Thankyou for the videos
Hi Chrome! I'm celebrating 1 week in my van...lol... I'm starting out with a Dodge Caravan. I hope to have a bigger van like yours in a year. Thought I'd start out with this to see what I really want and need in my bigger van build. Love your channel and always learn a lot from you. Thanks for all you do!
OH CHROME ! ! If those L brackets rub a hole thru the side of the battery you will have a leaking acid on you floor. I used wooden blocks and a cargo strap to secure my batteries.
So the 2 things I would do differently is add a fuse from the switch to the battery and strap the battery down. Just take a piece from a ratchet strap and screw it over the battery. But good advice on wiring and when using a fuse box go and use battery cable for power and ground.
Everytime you called it a cigarette lighter I cringed. Then you said it's disgusting. Totally! I agree! I was going to say that old people call it that, but younger people call it a 12v plug.
Funny and cute the way Cruz is grabbing your attention. Just like a kid!! 😊 Gave me a big smile in the middle of all this serious electrical advice. 👍✌🏻️ Do as I say, Not as I do.....😅😂😅😂😅 Another great video.
Whew! This is great. I think I can do this - the smart isolator thing. It will solve my energy problems since I'm not keen on drilling solar to the roof right now. I really need to keep my batteries charged and it's impossible unless you've got solar on the roof, or an isolator attached to your car battery.
This is EXTREMELY helpful!!! Thank you for being so thorough, I have such a better understanding of what I need to get started!! Thank you, Chrome you are greatly appreciated 😀❤️👍👍👍
chrome, your wiring setup is about 150% better than what i have done...you really know much more than me by a long shot...i should re-do mine and if i get the guts i will...(i think i would need help, for sure)
Love this type of video...very informative. 👍 Appreciate all info on what works without making things to complicated. Thank you for sharing...take care. Cruz on guard duty...what a cutie! 🥰 🐶 Safe travels...enjoy the journey! 🤗
Bro I love how excited you are about the van stereo. Nothing beats some good beats to groove with as you check out your crazy sick views every morning. "Making ginormous messes is what I do dad, and you love me for it", says King Cruz.
I am actually planning to do something similar with my build, but more of a hybrid of what you did. Only thing that I might add is a gennie. Yeah, I might not be as stealth, but in this Floridian heat, you need A/C
Not sure what you power from the inverter but it’s a good idea to look for a 12v power supply option on any accessory you run. This is s more efficient way of powering rather than going though an inverter to get 110v or 220v in Europe
Hey Chrome I’m no expert but from what I’m read you should check out the Renogy DC to DC charger. Deep cycle batteries don’t like being charged by an alternator the voltage is not stable. Your house battery will last 4x as long.
There's nothing wrong with the way you did it. Seams like everything is wired correctly. The only things I would suggest is to shrink wrap the connectors and install a proper hold down on the house battery. The L brackets will keep the battery from sliding around under NORMAL driving conditions, but in a panic stop or turn all that weight will move really quick. If you watch some crash test videos, you will often see side view mirrors go flying simply from inertia. Now multiply the weight of a side view mirror by 100.
Thats a decent advice but needs a little more added to it, use the same gauge for a single light, or use a ticker gauge for multiple of the same lights,
Great information. I wish I had some electrical knowledge but I am so afeared of getting shocked and blowing stuff up, I would get a professional or my brother. He doesn't charge me any money! lol I like this one.
I was thinking for securing the battery to the floor I would have cut some L sections of 20x20mm aluminium angle and just silicon it to the floor around the battery without drilling holes for those brackets
I can't tell you don't know what you are doing, you did great explaining. I would have to have help with that, I was lost as last year's Easter egg, lol!
So you have your NEW deep cycle battery hooked up to your car battery with the (smart isolator) ?? Can I just hire you I'm in BC 🤞🤣 OH AND pls watch Cruise don't want him hit 🙈🐾
Nice job 👍 What are the rules and laws in Canada for this type of electrical installation in a van? do you need to declare the installation? Here in France it is necessary that the electrical installation installed by the owner of the van (or professionnal) is declared to a special service for homologation, and of course the government requires a lot of money and the van arrives in the category of RV ,same for water and gaz installation
Im a smoker no offence taken man you've got alot of power in your van do you know how much it is all together? And when I get my van idk what kind of battery set up I'd like to go with I'd like to go with something super simple as a Jackery battery sorta like what you did with yours but I'm wanting to run a fridge and eventually a fan and a tv off of mine and your videos have alot of info in them specially when you do videos like these I feel like you should be a spokes person for like O'Rileys or AutoZone or something like that you know do some commercials anyways man awesome video can't wait for the next one stay safe stay weird and Cruz is always so cute take it easy buddy. 😊💪
I am not sure what SBI did you use. Will you consider Trueam dual battery isolator. See the product at www.dfna.info (retail) and www.trueam.com for bulk order

Get some Pioneer - 6" x 9" 5-Way speakers for the door and a sub-woofer tube for base and you'll be straight. Van hard and safe.
Very interesting video... And that is quite the ferocious guard dog you have there! heehee!

I just love how you explain things. Easy and to the point not overwhelming like some videos. Keep the videos coming. You are awesome.
Um, so you're saying we shouldn't drive on up to BC and have you wire stuff for us! 🤣😉👍🏼Bummer dude! 😊
If you need wiring done for you van let me know, Seattle/Tacoma/BC area
@@UtahAdventureFishing Thank you but I'm in Virginia. ☹

Strap battery maybe needed, In an accident may be launched.
Great video!
How smart was JACKERY to know Crome has definitely inspired us all by keeping it real🤙

You did a great job 👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺🤪🐶👊🚐always use fuses
I like your set up. If the house battery dies you can still plug the cig adapter into the jackery battery. Good stuff!!!
Good job have fun and take care
Love that you showed us your battery setup. Thanks
I personally use two 6 volt golf cart batteries, wired in series
Everytime you called it a cigarette lighter I cringed. Then you said it's disgusting. Totally! I agree!

Is there?

Great video chrome cute seeing Cruz munching on the tree leaves xxx
Awesome video, Chrome, at least you don't need solar. Cruz thinks he is a mechanic, lol. Kisses to Cruz!
LOOKS GOOD! ! !
This is EXTREMELY helpful!!! Thank you for being so thorough, I have such a better understanding of what I need to get started!! Thank you, Chrome you are greatly appreciated 😀❤️👍👍👍

You're smart getting A sealed AGM battery. Awesome

Great Ginormous informational video Homie 😎👌 thanks.. safe travels
I'm always scared to do stuff like that myself lol. Cruz is so cute. LITTLE CHUB CHUB😊😘😘
Great information. I wish I had some electrical knowledge but I am so afeared of getting shocked and blowing stuff up, I would get a professional or my brother. He doesn't charge me any money! lol I like this one.
Well done on the project xxx
Good information, thanks for sharing
The battery install part intimidates me 😳
If your still on the island you should go to 'we go solar' in chemanuis. Better price for batteries.
Thanks For Sharing Your video, great info, be safe traveling love ya
Cool but still above my head! Lol!
I would love to know how you got the cable from the isolator to the battery meaning how did you get it from outside to inside
another great vid, cruz is getting big,,
I was thinking for securing the battery to the floor I would have cut some L sections of 20x20mm aluminium angle and just silicon it to the floor around the battery without drilling holes for those brackets
GREAT VIDEO....nothing wrong with your wiring for the limited things you are running....firm believer in K.I.S.S......
Good video. Cruz is super cute.
I can't tell you don't know what you are doing, you did great explaining. I would have to have help with that, I was lost as last year's Easter egg, lol!
You can say! I did it my way.👍
On this episode Chrome goes deeeeeeep 😎
The best way to secure the battery and without using tape or brackets.... I just use Canadian maple syrup..... take care Chrome.... Stay Weird
So you have your NEW deep cycle battery hooked up to your car battery with the (smart isolator) ?? Can I just hire you I'm in BC 🤞🤣 OH AND pls watch Cruise don't want him hit 🙈🐾
Chrome you are Golden and I get inspiration from you my brother ❣️
Cruz 🤗😘🐶🚐💨
This is more than I feel I could do, even with the same gear. 😂 (if I had the moolah, which I don't)
☀️👩💻 Note to self; don't follow what Chrome did 🤣🕊💜
Nice job 👍

I would add an online fuse before your switch boxes just in case. A 20 amp fuseeould be sufficient
Chrome ...Just make sure you do not discharge your new battery more than 50%... If you do you will greatly shorten the life of your battery.
Chrome, I couldn't find the switch panel when I clicked on your Amazon link..Please leave a link so I can purchase a couple.. Thank you.
I didn’t see those cigarette lighter switch things in your amazon link.

You may need a battery box just in case the battery explodes.
Be safe bro.
Hey Chrome! Great video. No link for the little 3 switch thing. Been looking for them. Please post!
What is the make and model of those in-line circuit breakers between the batteries and the isolator?
Do you think 55amp/h battery would have been enough if all you powered was a maxx fan and 3 small LED lights?
Hi Chrome, off topic queation. How big (many quarts) is your Pelican Cooler
17:00 BIGGER is BETTER! :) Never go down on Wire Size
Check out Handybobs blog .Its a real I opener about R.V. battery charging and maintenance.
Cool men👍❤
Where you get the isolater I need one lol 🛠🛠🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hugs Cruz n Chrome
Can I Install ISOLATOR with Parallel Batteries in Smart Alternator ... ? Is it work ...And ... Charge Parallel Batteries.

🇺🇸Chrome Do you have a CO2 Alarm in your home/van?
Why are you charging a battery off a battery? a lithium battery at that. it's a zero sum gain. You waisting a life/partial life cycle.
