It saddens me to hear that you felt shamed by others for your German heritage, I'm so glad that you grew beyond that and can now embrace it. I'm swedish, but I speak German and visit Germany a few times every year, it is one of the most welcoming and warm cultures and peoples I've ever encountered.
    Blessings on your path, friend!

You are not your ancestors, but its so heart warming to hear you want to leave this world a better place. I definitely felt more at home when I started researching my ancestors and the folklore surrounding my background also. I'm so pleased you feel comfortable evolving and changing your practice over time x

I have also shifted my path over the years. This is growth. I am not as much a practicing Wiccan anymore. But I feel wicca is still a part of me. I have been practicing for 30 years as a witch but only the first 10 was I a dedicated and practicing Wiccan. Now I teach people Wiccan practice and also other pagan rites. I now feel wicca is my spiritual practice not as much my magical practice. So we each must grow and move forward to the next level of our experience. Continue your path Ella and see what you can find. Blessed be

@okokok I am sorry for tour limited outlook on religious beliefs. I understand that your religious beliefs say you have to convert others. But you should be more accepting of others. There are hundreds of beliefs out there from hundreds of people and countries. This world is full of people who try to manipulate others. Christians are, in my opinion, the first to degrade and dismiss others beliefs. Truly believe that all gods are one entity that we all see differently and that we each talk to differently. Thank you for your concern for me. But I am ready for the end of time. I am at peace with the world around me. I will ask my goddess to bless you with knowledge and understanding. Blessed be friend

I'm so pleased you are embracing your heritage, no culture is perfect. As a Brit, who is descend from the vikings, my history is filled with horrible actions. We can only control what we do and try to influence others to be their best. Blessed be xxx

Never be ashamed of who you are and where you come from. No one is perfect, no matter what.
I have German, Irish, Scottish, and welsh blood ( what a volcano of blood 😂).
Over the years I too have moved away from Pagan/Wiccan ways. I have felt more of a witch than pagan/Wiccan.
I really only work with 2 Celtic Goddess when I need guidance.
Since I was little I’ve always known I was a witch and always enjoyed exploring in the woods when we went camping. I’ve always spoken to bugs and little animals (frogs, salamander, butterflies, etc).
I’ve always spoken mentally to deer, raccoons, birds, rabbits, etc and I feel they know what I’m says mentally.
Thank you for sharing. And yeah I’m more of a witch that pagan/Wiccan.

I come from a German background too but really want to dive more into it, so I'm really glad I found your channel, I have tried for years to practice Wicca and it didn't feel quite right to me, but I'm very drawn to nature and the magic that nature can bring.

I love this video so much, Ella. Beautiful! it's so important for us to stand up and be the young voices of our ancestors choosing peace. The ancestral trauma dies with us and we choose to not carry it on to the next generation. I think you are doing a wonderful thing for your clan of ancestors. You are representing them well! ❤️🙏

First, I am so happy for you! This familiar path (new but somehow old to the heart) is very exciting and one I can really relate with. Second, please know that the rest of the world does not look down on Germans. Yes, there is a grim history but my family did some terrible things as well. This doesn't negate their actions but it empowers us to look at our ancestors and tell them that we choose to love humans differently. We learn from their mistakes and hopefully make the world better (like you mentioned). I'd argue that you have done pretty good at making things better.
For the past 2 years, I've struggled to call myself Wiccan and it is for the exact reasons you're listing. My heritage is primarily Irish, Scottish, and Welsh (some French). It's safe to say that Celtic deities have been prominently reaching out to me. It has been a little bit of a struggle, for me. I've studied with Druid orders and found so many fascinating practices that resonate. However, there is this massive part of me that loves to practice witchcraft. I don't know why I haven't found a balance yet but I keep pushing through and try my best.
I hope that as you go down this path, you remember that you've created a massive community that you can lean on when things feel overwhelming. Do not be afraid to ask questions or for resources.
    Best wishes!

I have struggled with my German heritage and I have a good portion of it. My Dad's side is all German. The area I grew up in was mostly settled by Germans. My ancestors fled Germany in the 1840s and settled in America, so even though they had nothing to do with WWII, I still struggle with this. It is something I need to work on accepting, as it is a beautiful culture. And whether or not I know it, very immersed into my life. I can understand how you felt very much.

This is beautiful and I resonate with everything you’re saying. I feel like we’re on a very similar path! :)
You say you’ve come to terms with knowing that some of your ancestors were probably not good people. I just want to say - we ALL have ancestors who were not good people. And we ALL have ancestors who were beautifully loving people. I say that just as a reminder to those who may get down on themselves over the actions of previous generations.
Anyway, have a wonderful day to whoever is reading this. ❤️

Really interested in following your journey into folk magic and hearing all about German folklore and folk practices.
I think it's very healthy to acknowledge that our paths do change, both initially but when we've been practicing for a long time.
One of my close friends in in a Gardnerian coven, her personal practice is much more folk witchcraft and she's a regular at my druid grove too and it all holds together because it makes sense to her.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. I too have been doing much research into Wicca but, even though many parts of it make sense to me I felt it really wasn't the right fit for me. Then I watched your video and my heart leaped for joy. I am also from a German/Irish family and my family ancestry is very important to me. Also, as a librarian I loved reading any folk/fairytales I could get my hands on. As you know my family will be making a journey this fall to Scotland to research the areas that my husband and his family are from and I'm excited to be bring along my children for this journey. Good luck to you and look forward to your new journey. Also, I would love to know the name of the Bavarian folk book you are reading. :)

This was so interesting Ella - thank you for sharing. I am sorry you felt this way in the past, but its so wonderful you have found your path, and it feels resonant for you. I truly believe our paths wind and twist and turn as we do and we just go with it but I very much relate to a lot you speak of. I am sooooo interested in reading about ceremonial traditions, but mostly only academically, because I don't ever really plan to practice that way. I always felt awkward as a teen, performing Wiccan rituals and it felt real and resonated when I connected to spirits and followed my intuition. The most ceremony I do now is rare rituals in communion with my ancestors or with The Morrigan or planetary magick. Even any moon rituals are very loose and relaxed and I rarely cast circles, but I am fascinated by The Keys of Solomon and The Greek Magical Papyri. My practice is folk rooted as well and my attraction to Wicca when I was 11 was the earth-based aspect of it too. I feel a very strong responsibility to the planet, taking care of and connecting to Mother Earth. This was soooo lovely thank you so much for sharing. 💜

Good to see you using your critical thinking. We should constantly be questioning ourselves and making sure we are practicing skilfully and effectively. Distractions will arise, but its the practitioner who returns to their path.

I also connect with you on the fact that I feel I am have walking away from the Wiccan and Pagan path, and I only want to be a witch now. Witchcraft just makes me so happy, because it works and its so freeing.
Also, I looked up my last name and it turns out it comes from a 1200s Germanic tribe! We might be related! XD lol So I might have German blood, not just Spanish, Italian, and Native American!
Funny, recently I have been drawn into Sigil witchery and Hedge Witchery.
Never be ashamed of your heritage. If I have learned anything from my ancestors, is to be proud of who you truly are. You are NOT your past or your ancestors mistakes, but you are the fire in the soul within. You are that beautiful shining light that leads the way. :) Bless you on your newfound path, and blessed be!

It's okay to be German! 😘 But I think, everyone, who is German, has to work through the history first. At least every person I know. And I have spent almost every single day of my life in Germany. Just so you know, you're not alone in this!!
Glad to learn about your practice. 🙂

I only found your channel recently after I saw your book in a shop near me but I love all the videos I've seen so far! I know you said this has been a gradual change over a year or so, but I know books take a long time to come together so I was wondering if you get time to answer, is your book more Wicca based, or is it more similar to your newer folk magic practice? :)

I think we all have issues with our ancestors. I am an American and I choose not to work with many of my known ancestors because they were really nasty, mean people. I also have wonderful, loving ancestors that I enjoy working with. I’m just starting on my Wiccan path and I’m looking forward to watching some of your past videos, but I’m interested in seeing where your new path takes you. I have enjoyed a few of your videos so far. Blessed be.
