I have the combo version and couldn’t be happier with the amps versatility. It replicates tube like sound/breakup very well (indistinguishable) from tube amp to untrained ear. Keeps classic english tone but allows for alot more modern play as well. 9/10
Here here! Couldn’t agree more. It really is a great amp. Thanks for watching. I’m planning on posting more regularly in the new year. One of the vids will be on the Orange Crush 20RT and why I think it’s a perfect practice amp. Hope you’ll check it out.
Tighten the screws that hold the speakers in place. Over time and through the changing seasons the wood thickness varies due to moisture content, hence the screws can become a little loose. The result is a buzzing sound. All it takes is one speaker to be a little loose. I have purchased high quality cabs that had that going on for little money. Took them home removed the back. Tightened (do not overtighten because it's wood) the screws holding the speakers put the back back in place and the cab sounded as new.
Love the video! I'm also a cr120 user. In fact, I bought two heads. Just love them. I like how you're using it with various effects and as a pedal platform. Sounds great! Love your speaker Grill too.
Thanks Miles! Yeah I love it. I'm actually in the process of getting a custom switch made for it and redoing my sounds. I'll post something once it's done. Thanks again.
Congrats. And wise decision. IMO the octave is one of the best “secret weapon” pedals. Use it with a clean tone for single string lines and it’s amazing, use it with a heavy tone some delay and a wah and it’s a face melter. Have fun and use your power for good and maybe evil.
I’ve been using this head for a little bit. It’s reliable, sounds great and sometimes even fools me into thinking it’s a tube amp in long jams at band volume.
1969Donovan I bet. My cab is an older Marshall. Sounds good to me but it would be fun to hear things using different speakers. If I had access to some I’d give a whirl. Thanks for watching!
Cool. Glad it helped. I love the CR120. But just in case have you seen the Terror Stamp pedal? Orange just released it. Basically an amp in pedal form. Has an effects loop too. Depending on someone’s needs it’s definitely worth looking into.
@@1stvan I have been thinking about the Stamp, mainly to use with my Helix, but I'm not sure about 20 watts. This is a rig for a metal band and I need tons of power. But I know that i'll eventually have that thing. so cool and not super expensive
Thanks for the kind words. It's been really cool getting back into electric guitar and trying to make things sound good. The Orange community is very supportive for the most part and seem to really get the joy of playing guitar. Thanks again.
Brilliant! I have that Vox DelayLab and it's amazing. Takes up a lot of pedal board space though. The thing I don't have, but am thinking about, is the Orange Crush Pro....thanks for the demo!
Ray Kay yeah I really like that pedal. I feel like you can tolerate the size because it allows you to store 30 really strong and fairly diverse presets. I don’t think they’re in production anymore so it also makes it more valuable. Thanks for the strong and fairly diverse comment. Hope you get the Pro!
Sounds great man! I use to own one but sold it I am going to get another one in a few days. Thanks to your vid it helped me decide. But I think I am going to go with 2- 112 Orange cabs' like the option and light wieght possibility of that kind of set up! Great playing and thanks for your video.
Thank you! And I'm with you on the smaller cabs. Good call on the 2 1X12's. I'm trying to find a 2 x 12 that I like and doesn't cost a ton. Or just an empty cab and then find maybe a combo of two different speakers to load in. Post when your cabs arrive.
It was a window in my case. Not joking certain frequency playing low that I could hear it. But I just wait for my neighbor to leave and give that darn window a real workout.
Do you know if the Boss NS-2 would work fine in front of the CR120? When I plugged mine into the front of my TH100 it worked flawlessly, but when I plugged my pedalboard in front of my Micro Dark the NS-2 stopped working. The pedal itself is fine because it works when plugged into the fx loop of the Micro Dark. My next purchase will be a CR120, but I'd like to make sure the NS-2 works in front of it first. If it doesn't I guess I could plug my entire pedalboard straight into the fx loop?
Hi. Great question. I actually added a looper switcher to my pedalboard and had the same problem. But the NS-2 is a pretty versitile pedal and can be connected in a way that it can serve double duty. I just can't easily explain how. All four in and outs of my NS-2 are in use now. I will do a follow up and show how I'm using it as well as the switcher. The only problem for me is that now the NS-2 is influencing my delay which you don't really want. But with some knob tweaking I've got it in a nice place. Do a search of the NS-2 set up and I'm sure you'll find what I did to help you make it work. Otherwise my video will be up "soon" Thanks!
so are you running the whole board through your effects loop, distortion included? had this amp for a few months and am struggling with tone so your video helps a lot
I've altered my board since this was filmed. Added a switcher and made some other changes. No compressor though. I have thought about it. Any specific compressors you like?
I am. I was a huge metal fan as a kid but walked away from it in my latter teens. Recently I felt the need to revisit that music and not only did most of it hold up it surpassed my expectations. Early Sabbath is so good and I feel like the Dio albums are downright rock masterpieces. Wasn’t going for his sound but if you hear it that’s high praise. Thanks my friend!
Just bought my orange cr120 on Monday and getting the head today.. I'm getting the cab tomorrow so I can't wait to rock out with it and drown out the next door hate fuckers lol
Love the monster music lol you definetly need to check into gaming sound effects and movie music etc not saying you don't play a mean guitar ......you do!!
Hey Tanner. I’m using a Marshall cab I bought in the 90’s that has 4 Celestion G12L speakers. I’m actually looking for a good 2x12 cab. Hard to choose.
Yes. Any over driven stuff is the amps dirty channel. I've since improved my pedal board so I have s second overdrive option for an in between level of overdrive which is nice to have. Thanks for watching.

bought an octave pedal because of you!

The orange amp really comes alive with the orange cabs. They are expensive but it does make a difference.

now that's proper tone, holy shit, love it!
Blackfoot Hawk thanks man! It’s a never ending pursuit. Thanks for listening.
this is exactly the video i needed to see before i buy one of these. thank you!

Hi guys. I want to buy this head. Can i use it with my ppc112? But i only have one. Thanks
Came for the tone - stayed for the plinth 😂

Very cool run thru; sounds good.
Ever try a compressor in the loop?
I’ve heard that helps get further away from the SS timbre.
Be Very Well!

I just added one as well as a looper switcher to my pedal board. Still messing with it.
Fan of Tony Iommi? Great tones.

What cab are you using?
TheLfsexton it’s a 90’s era Marshal 4 x 12 with Celestion G12L speakers original to the cab.
What cab are you running through? Sorry if i missed it in the video? Idk which one to get!
Hey Tanner. I’m using a Marshall cab I bought in the 90’s that has 4 Celestion G12L speakers. I’m actually looking for a good 2x12 cab. Hard to choose.
@@1stvan they make an orange 2x12 combo that is the exact cr120 placed inside a 2x12 cab
Thanks for the run through.
Tip: don't say "and again" so much 😁
J Mas thanks. And noted on my repetition. Full disclosure my prolific “umms” are first on my list.
Is this all through the dirty channel?
Yes. Any over driven stuff is the amps dirty channel. I've since improved my pedal board so I have s second overdrive option for an in between level of overdrive which is nice to have. Thanks for watching.
jesus got enough effects there?
1mrslapzilla no.
Um... this isn't the CR120. This is the Crush Pro 120. Source: I own a CR120.
Is it not the same thing?
@@ballsofdoom3124 they are. The face plate has changed a bit over the years but it’s the same amp
