Thank you very much!! Really appreciated!!
I agree, very user friendly!
Thank you !
So hard to find with most videos lmao. 28 minute video with 28 seconds of information lmao
This is a useful technique for sure, especially if the valves are obviously bent
But there are some valves that are slightly bent but you wouldn't be able to tell using this inspection camera.
But those same valves that may look fine will fail the water test
I'm thinking maybe spray wd40 though the Intake or exhaust valves and using the camera to see if oil seeped on top of the piston.
Yes you would have to take off the intake and or exhaust manifold, but that's way easier than taking off the whole head
Thanks for the comment and you are correct. This method is only one way but as you mentioned, there are other ways as well.
This is an awesome idea. Thanks!
No problem, glad to hear
This was great its also funny I have the exact same engine Im currently working on (Volvo C30)
Thank you! Good luck with your project
Nice one 2 thumbs up....definitely hitting subscribe
Awesome thank you!
That was great. Thanks.
You're welcome!
What about diesels?
Could be done but harder
Is it possible to use this technique with the intake valves open, to assess the amount of VW EA888 (2.0 TSI) carbon buildup due to direct injection? Maybe not, as the carbon buildup is on the valve stem and back of the valve. Perhaps there’s a way to snake the endoscope through the intake manifold? Your thoughts?
You could see some through the spark plug hole but if you take off the intake you can see carbon build up without the camera
It would be nice to see what a bent valve looks like.
I have many videos on bent valves check them out
Do you need to place it in every spark plug hole or can you see them all through one
Every cylinder bore, yes.
Is the TAKMLY USB endoscope on amazon that this link takes me to the same one as you used in the video, it looks a bit different. I want to make sure it is so that I can bend it over 180 degrees the way you did.
.
Where's the link for the bore scope? I have a 99 tahoe with low compression on cylinder 1

Like i tell all my friends, "scope it out!" MarkMannM2
Yep
I found 2 links to the endoscopes, one was a Nidage and the other was TAKMLY. Is one better than other or will either work?
They both should work just find the one with the smallest head diameter to go into the spark plug hole.
When did Christopher Walken become a mechanic?
When he was 16
Like a fish hook, when u can't get it out, u are in bigger trouble.
Just have to be careful.
Or just run a compression test and replace valves in affected cylinder as im doing😁
You can have a hole in the piston, burnt or bent valves and it’s nice to see what you’re in for before hand. Compression test won’t tell you that as easy.
@@motorcarnut true but my timing belt broke a block from my house and i was only going 15 mph👍
@@kirbytabor9956 Then how are you doing a compression test with no timing belt?
@@ridingincircles Duh easily put one on, but first new oil pump and fixing stripped motor mount bolts that a previous dummy messed up👍😁😁

Thank you!
