Welcome to Mifflin County! Sharp Shoppers are great stores to visit now and then but because the stock isn't standard, it isn't possible to go there with a list. Something to keep in mind is the closest Costco to that area is Harrisburg (70 miles) or Lancaster (90 miles), so not the best option. There is an Aldi in Lewistown but it is relatively new.
Jamerrill Stewart goes to the one in Winchester, VA. I live about an hour northeast of that one. I Shopped there once, and it definitely has great prices. My kids are all grown and out of the house, so I don't need to have as much food in my house anymore and mostly stick to Walmart and Aldi.
I went to the one in Butler PA a year ago. It didn’t have near the bulk items you showed in your video. I wish it was closer than 4-5 hours away. I think it really depends on what you normally buy on whether or not it’s the cheapest store in America. I always try to stock up when I get to go to the Amish area in Ohio.
I live in Southern California, in my town we have Walmart and Aldi plus a few regular grocery stores. I drive 45 minutes to an hour away for Costco and Sam’s Club. Another 30 minutes drive passed those is a Winco though great prices I’m not sure it’s worth it for the gas price and living in a desert where it gets 120 + degrees we have to pack coolers. Sometimes I find it’s worth the extra money just to shop close to home .
I, too, live in Southern California and find that Aldi and Winco are the more reasonable grocery markets to shop in my area. I also shop at Costco and Sam's Club. I wonder if you make a trip to Costco and Sam's during the winter months to bulk shop and stock up, would that be worth the drive?
@ it usually is worth it . I stock up on meats, cheese and frozen veggies and fruit . Then in hotter months take a small cooler for fresh fruits and stuff .
What amish bulk store do you go to? I am in York PA. I drive to the sharp shppper in Middletown which is 40 min away. I usually buy, frozen waffles, cereal bars, yogurts and frozen things and think it is way cheaper than Aldi.
I would love to shop at sharp shopper and get deals on the things I use and stock heavy up on . With that said I think all the things Jarmell stocks up on is what she uses regularly.. I also believe it depends on your access of the amount of grocery stores you have available in your area! In my area we have no cheaper stores so I would love to have aldies and sharp shopper ❤❤❤
I agree. We have gone twice while visiting in PA and there were a few gems but overall I didn’t get the hype. However, the store I went to didn’t appear to have the same variety that I see in Jammerill’s videos.
We don't have a Sharp Shopper here in north central Ohio. That said, I'm in Knox County where there is a large Amish Community. We do have Amish bulk stores, dry goods stores, and bent and dent type stores and Mennonite run ones too a few minutes drive away. We have Aldi, Walmart, Kroger, and Sam's Club close. Costco is about an hour away.
For me, time and distance plays a big role. I usually find Walmart and Aldi to be my go-to stores. Both are about 10 miles from me. I stopped in sharp shopper in butler and did buy some items but wouldn’t make a special trip. It’s over an hour from me.
Welcome to Mifflin County! I am about 20 minutes from Sharp Shopper, but I don't care for this store. Most things are expired or close to expiration. Did you check out Peight's while you were in Belleville? We love going there for all our spices.
Oh my goodness…I love the Amish/Mennonite store near Belleville! We go through Belleville to get to our Mountain House near Raystown Lake. I did stop in at the same Sharp Shopper once or twice as we were passing through. Did you know that they are opening a brand new ALDIs in Huntington? It is located on William Penn highway in one of the shopping malls. It may be opened by now. We do our bulk buys at Sams. I also shop at Giant (mostly store brand and sales only). The Walmart in Huntington went through a store makeover on the last year. We often shop there as well.
Thanks for your honest opinion. We drive to PA from Massachusetts 3 times a year and i full up with groceries at the small Amish stores plus thanks to you we've gone to whispering pines and l & l market twice now. I think i will stick with those. After all i need my oatmeal raisin whoopie pie fix from whispering pines 🥰 For us a combo of local meat and shopping in PA and at Aldi work for us. We have a BJ's membership but I'm not seeing the value at much anymore except our organic milk. They are trying to add more organics though which is plus. We also do Sam's club a few times a year for nuts, toilet paper and other goodies
Thank you. The closest one to me is in another state and 2 and half hours away. I was going to take the ride, but I will stick to Aldis and Walmart. I live in NJ, I am close to 2 places that the Amish have stores. I love shopping there.
How fun to see that you visited our area! It would have been great to run in to you and the girls. I’m glad you stopped at the thrift store that is there. I love to go there! There are a number of the little local stores like you visited ,but I had not been to the one you stopped at in Reedsville. Looking forward to checking it out!
If you have to drive any length to go to Sharp Shoppers it doesn’t look worth it for you only getting 3 items…if it’s on your way to wherever you are going then maybe worth it.
That's good, I have to shop Save A lot to get great deals and maybe one day a friend will drive to Virginia for the deals and it's 70 miles from Maryland
Adaline I absolutely loved watching this wonderful video!! I am so glad to have seen this video on your UA-cam channel!! When I seen the title I immediately thought Jamerill shops there too!
I haven't heard of that store or been to a aldies? Live in OREGON we have whats almost sounds like you store is a grocery outlet.. I dont always buy stuff there either since there is other stores closer to my home which has better deals!! Go where the better deals are maybe once in a while hit those type of discount stores and take a ice cooler with you!!! Thanks 4 sharing this information!!!!
For those saying she is bashing Jammerril I don't think that she is. She is more health conscious than her which is fine. She likes to source things that are not full of preservatives. Nothing wrong with either way of living y'all do you. She was just simply showing you what they offer if you wanted to make the trip.
Thank you for this comment, and 100% agree with what you’ve said. ☺️ And for the record, I absolutely love Jammerrils content and have for years. Would never want to put her down in anyway. ☺️
Whether or not she was bashing Jamerill (I agree she probably wasn't, or certainly wasn't trying to) she did make the video without any intention of actually shopping there and had no qualms putting the whole store down before even leaving. There is nothing at all wrong with different dietary desires, or even just plain not liking a store-for whatever reason(s). But she went into it with weird judgment, putting the place down before she even left and had a crappy attitude the whole time she was in there "browsing". It would've been better to get there, realize it's not for her, state that and leave (though not so great for content material I guess, lol). The judgment and offhanded commentary throughout was unnecessary. I don't think people realize the kind of impact that can have on people who do shop in stores like this, because they need to, or even just want to. "I don't buy any of this stuff, so these prices aren't good" is just weird, lol. While not showing the prices, of course, which actually ARE way lower than costco on pretty much everything (heck even walmart is, because costco isn't trying to sell things cheaper). The offhanded judgmental commentary was too much. Not really defending the store, like I said, we don't have them here, but come on now, call a spade a spade. She made a video for content sake, not to showcase a store she had no desire to shop in. She missed more than half the actual store, lol.
We do not have Sharp Shopper stores in Canada but it was fun to discover this store with you! Were I live I shop at a Walmart Superstore, The Great Canadian Superstore and Costco for the best prices. We also have a store called Food Basics and their prices are good. However, they don't carry most of the things I normally buy. Take care ❤❤❤and God bless.❤❤
For a large family costco does have some good deals but they are to expensive to shop for us anyway. I do love aldi and i use to love our grocery outlet but the have become more expensive then the major chains. Im in California and everything is ridiculous here lol
Maybe I mistook this video, but it felt like you were bashing Jamerrill. I have 3 different Aldis that I can go to, and they all seem to have different things in stock.
There is a sharp shopper in Middletown, PA. I have gone there maybe 3 times. The last time I was there, everything I was interested in was out dated. I will go again, just not a frequent visit.
I believe I am able to shop at the one that Jammeril shops at in Winchester, VA. I have been in there a few more times the problem I a that some things the dates are like next day. I don't have a huge family either so for me it just depends on the dates and you never know what will be there either so its hard to shop for a weekly trip. The prices are usually great though. We have Costco, wal mart, aldi, and Martins in the area so for sure it is one of the cheaper option for cost effectiveness. As far as her going in as a preconceived notion she wouldn't like it. That is her opinion. Yoneqch their own.
I occasionally go to Sharp Shopper not as much I used to 20+ years ago, pre-aldi days lol The prices for canned goods, odds and ends are good but I wouldn’t do a whole shopping trip here..
I live in central Pa also. I probably live in the middle between you and Bellville. I like shop sharper but you definitely need to check dates. I don't go often just occasionally. I usually end up on spending money on junk foods. I'm trying to avoid. I live 45 minutes from Bellville so I don't stock up on frozen food.
I think you touched on a couple of things that would stop me from going to these stores. 1. An hour drive to our Costco or Sam’s is not worth it to me. I stick to my local Amish bulk and discount stores. I shop at a VERY SMALL Kroger. 2. I do not go to Walmart or any type of superstores. It can tempt me to buy things I really don’t need. The prices may be cheaper on a few items but if I buy things such as clothing or decorative items then I’ve blown my budget. 3. I agree for people that don’t have discounted stores the prices at sharp shopper are fantastic, especially in VA where Jamerrill is located. (We have family there). It would have been interesting to see how your store compares to the VA store. Thanks for sharing!! We are from northern Indiana which has Amish stores just about on every corner. ❤
It's a little odd that you went there with the intent to not like it, it's pretty obvious in your tone even before you got there at the beginning of the video. Of course, it's not a store for everyone and opinions on things will vary. There's nothing at all wrong with not liking a store, either. Individual locations also vary (we don't have one here, either but I have been to them). That said comparing it to costco is pretty stupid, because even in bulk, costco is absolutely more expensive (plus, you need a membership, another cost to add in, even if only paid once a year) for most *food items. The toilet paper you compared it to, is not the same brand, which changes the cost. If you compared brand to brand, costsco costs more for that brand (assuming your costco carries it and not all do). If you don't care about brands, costco can be much cheaper on household goods that are easy to stock up on. Unless you absolutely need bulk food in every food item, costco isn't cheaper on food than any other store, even Walmart has better price per..on foods than costco does. Costco isn't budget friendly for most, but it's not intended to be, either. I'm not sure you really gave the place a fair shake, you went in not wanting to buy anything, clearly already not liking the idea of the place and it shows in your whole video. "I don't need this, so I don't even know if the prices are good" is a pretty crappy attitude. For people who actually need to save money, places like sharp shopper, discount grocery outlets, aldi, save a lot, etc.. are godsends. For people who don't actually need to save money, it's easy to be judgmental when shopping at places like costco is readily available to you.
Comparing Sharp Shopper to Costco is just plain stupid and ignorant....if Adaline has a problem with Jamerill, she should sort it out with her privately rather than this covert type of BS video. The VA sharp shoppers have more varieties than the PA ones and for a grocery outlet store like Sharp Shopper, you never know what's in stock or what's not in stock. Some people need places like Sharp Shopper to survive because they cannot afford the likes of Costco. Even the title of the video comes off as if Adaline is out to prove Jameril wrong. It's sad and hard to watch this video especially knowing Adaline created and published it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions! I really enjoy Jamerrill’s content myself and meant nothing negative towards her in this video. Having watched her content for years I do agree with some of the other comments that feel this location doesn’t seem to carry a lot of the types of items Jamerrills location carries. ☺️
@@debm3518 It doesn't take most people that long to type out a comment. She did take the (much longer) time to create a video about nothing other than complaints, so... seems fair to give the video a good view before commenting, doesn't it?
Thank you for checking it out, I will continue to prefer Aldi. They have a good selection of Bobby approved items including organic meet. One is coming close to me in the new year. I love watching you, thank you.
I think that you ended up with a lot of grouchy viewers today . As a new viewer I think they need to get a grip. If they prefer the other person’s content they should stick to that channel. I like to get a look at stores that are not in my area. I don’t shop Costco. We have Sam’s and since our children are grown and gone , so we just stock up on small amounts of extra grocery items. I love the UNO cards, just too cute. I love Amish stores. We have several small Amish stores in our area. Would love to see some videos on the area you live in. ❤❤
Thank you for checking this store out. I was not impressed. It looked like a glorified dollar store with a bunch of junk food. Small amount of not questionable items. I’m sorry for judging so harshly but it’s not for me.
Welcome to Mifflin County! Sharp Shoppers are great stores to visit now and then but because the stock isn't standard, it isn't possible to go there with a list. Thank you for always looking into more affordable options! With the price of groceries, we can use all the help we can get.
You are so welcome!
I got the bai water at my sharp shopper too!! Then went to Costco and it was there the exact box for $20!! Absolute steal!!🎉👏👏🙌

That is a good point, they do have different selections from store to store!
I love Sharp Shoppers in Bellevue. It takes me an hour but is well worth the easy travel on route 322. Shopping local sources is wonderful!
Here in Texas, DFW south we have HEB and it’s good quality and great deals every week.
Did you stop by the John Henry store as well? She finds lots of produce there.
John Henry store is in Virginia. Two hundred plus miles from central PA.
John Henry is also a hit and miss. You would have to know what they have and its a madhouse there all the time.

I think a lot of those prices were fabulous if they are things you’d normally buy. A package of ball canning flats is $3.97 at my Walmart here in CO!
Reminds me of a sav-a lot that I shopped at in Kentucky. Of course there’s not one under that name here in Georgia .
Our save a lot closed they had mediocre prices and their meat selection was questionable
I live in Southeast Texas and shop at H•E•B, Walmart, Aldi and Sam's Club, for bulk items.

Oh my no! I really enjoy her content! ☺️
The little bulk food store you stopped by is owned by my cousin !
Aweee I love that!!
Thanks for taking us a long.
You are very welcome!
Great review of the store. It reminds me of Bylers. Definitely a place you go to without a list.
There is a sharp shopper in Middletown, PA. I have gone there maybe 3 times. The last time I was there, everything I was interested in was out dated. I will go again, just not a frequent visit.
Doing a bit of research, it looks like Sharp Shopper stores are in PA and VA.
Good to know!
Is skid an east coast word??? You are talking about the pallets right?

At my Sam’s. Club a 15 pack of bai cocofusion is $19.98

Depending on travel time, gas prices, etc, sometimes it is cheaper to shop closer to home.

@@debm3518 yet you've done same (taken out the time to write and complain about the words of others). Happy Thanksgiving.
@@debm3518 It doesn't take most people that long to type out a comment. She did take the (much longer) time to create a video about nothing other than complaints, so... seems fair to give the video a good view before commenting, doesn't it?
Sadly the closest one to me is 16 hrs away 😂
So Beautiful Video
Thank you for checking it out, I will continue to prefer Aldi. They have a good selection of Bobby approved items including organic meet. One is coming close to me in the new year. I love watching you, thank you.
Aldi is great! I love their prices too!
It also depends on what people eat because not everyone eats like you.
It looks like a lot of junk food.
No bulk store
Thank you for checking this store out. I was not impressed. It looked like a glorified dollar store with a bunch of junk food. Small amount of not questionable items. I’m sorry for judging so harshly but it’s not for me.
You are not harsh. It's your opinion. I think the same. I am not from the US, either way.
