siennavine81 Is that supposed to be insulting to her? There are tons of meals you can make for under a dollar a meal, easy. Cabbage stirfry with pork and rice is a great meal for under a dollar each. Salmon cakes and quinoa salad, real Mac and cheese, chicken meat loaf with a seasonal root veggie mash, summer rolls with home made pork sausage and asian coleslaw, chilli and cornbread, chow mein... These are things I've made in the last 3 weeks that are under a dollar a meal. If you can't achieve that price point, you are limited by your imagination or can't be bothered to try.
Here in Canada you can get like 5 big cans of pringles for 5 bucks when they are on sale. (so like a dollar each) still it doesen't matter since they have no nutritional value.
This wasn't low cost at all. Meat sold on the bone, seasonal veg, your own pasta sauce from canned tomatoes...stuff like that is how you keep cost down.
I think the ingredients are cheap, but the estimations are way off. If you get your ingredients at Walmart, the marinara pasta bake should be around 0.75-.90 a serving depending on how much you eat in a serving

In some countries finding asparagus is really hard. In my country not only it is very rare, but it costs around 8-9 in US dollars, just for a pack with 6-9 one of them in a pack.
@Adetoba Doce xD I was trying to say that I have only ever seen the currency symbol behind the price (the number), never in front of it. But maybe in the US it depends on your preference or the state you are in, I have no idea.
Dark Rays Of Sunshine love their videos but feel like almost $5 for a single meal is a lot, when your meal prepping too! Especially when you can get a 'meal deal' for £3 that includes a sandwich/salad/sushi, a snack and a drink. Obvs, quality isn't the best but these seem quite expensive overall... Feel like they need to shop around.
$5 a meal is $465 per month per person. That's too high for alot of people and its also unnecessary. There are plenty of ways to eat well in the $1-2 per person range. It just involves a bit more creativity with fewer ingredients.
I prep breakfast. I skip lunch. I cook one big pot of soup, stew or chili per week. Throw in some starchy snacks and I usually get by on about $75 per month per person.

For me in the UK - the other day I made a big batch of pasta sauce (6 servings) to refrigerate and use over the next couple of weeks. A big bag of pasta is about 50p, tinned tomatoes are 30p, cheap cream cheese is 50p, garlic is 30p, onions are 15p. I made enough food for six days, plus garlic and pasta left over, for £1.75. 30p per meal. The most expensive thing is stocking up on dried herbs, but that's a one-time purchase. Student budgeting ftw.
depends.. Ya idiot.. There is never when something is premade and costs less than it would to make it... You know why??? ITS CALLED MAKING MONEY YOUR AN IDIOT... Dont lie and think your going to feel smart
Here's an easy chili recipe that only costs me $6 to make (feeds 3). 1 pound ground beef (85% lean) 1 pound can of Kidney Beans 2 cans of tomato sauce 1 yellow onion 1 green bell pepper 1 head of garlic 3 bay leaves Seasoning I use is Cayenne Pepper, black pepper, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and a packet of sazon. I do it to taste. (If you're lazy or go too heavy handed, a taco seasoning pack would work fine...) Mince half the onion, bell pepper, and 3-4 cloves of garlic as finely as you can. In a pan on high heat, add oil. When the oil begins to smoke, add your onion and bell pepper. When soft, add your garlic. When the garlic becomes brown and soft, lower the heat and add your ground beef. (At this point, I season the meat VERY LIGHTLY. If you're using a taco season pack, just add about 1/4 of it). Combine your meat, vegetables, and spices and let the beef brown. While this happens, take a separate pot and prepare the beans. Strain all the slime from the can of beans thoroughly. You can use a colander to make it easier, but I do it from the pot by rinsing, shaking the beans with my hand, and draining the water until it stops foaming up. Cover the beans with water in the pot and place the pot on the stove. Add 1 clove of garlic (peeled) and only your pepper, a bit of sazon, and garlic powder. (DONT USE TACO SEASONING) and let the beans soften over low heat. You don't want to cook them completely yet. Once brown, In a slow cooker or large pot, add your meat. Pour all the beans in as well as 1/3 the bean water (keep the rest in case you overcook your chili and need to add water). Now, add your two cans of tomato sauce and your bay leaves. Add the rest of your seasonings and your spices of choice (or the remainder of your taco packet). Let it simmer until thick and BOOM! Chili. Serve over rice or chips and top with cheese. May not be the best chili, but a cold night with empty pockets makes this hit the spot
They are the "Silicon-Valley" type of people. If you dont think 12-15$ can be considered "cheap"...then you dont waste 42€ on a f-ing club sandwich in Malibu Colony Beach or Trousdale. :D
I thought it was to be cheap but if you are spending $5 a meal and $5 a smoothie you aren't eating for very cheap. That plus maybe one night out a week and you are at $500 a month per person.
For a lot of people, it's not what they're eating but how much. Meal prep is great for portion control. It's a really holistic approach to calorie counting honestly. Last time I lost a lot of weight, that's how I did it. On another note, regardless of restaurants being more expensive, these guys did not shop with budget in mind. These are not cheap meals, but really, very easily could be. For example, you can buy pre-frozen berries which would cut the cost of those smoothies by more than half. Get rid of the greek yogurt as well. Those breakfast sandwiches should also be much cheaper as ham, eggs and bread aren't all that expensive. The vegetables being used were not inexpensive; asparagus and cherry tomatoes aren't exactly budget options. The splurging on fresh herbs also kills your budget. I don't know how those pizza's were that expensive if they made their own dough, a jar of tomato sauce is like a dollar, a brick of cheese is like $4, really those should have been under a dollar each. Same with the pasta, pasta is cheap. I can understand meat being expensive but you can shop sales. Once your pantry is stocked with your grains and dough and spices, you can easily get by on $20 a week and eat well.

Alex Westphal, I had a low cow. A heifer, actually. Her name was Bambi. Sweet thing. We went to pick up a couple of week old steers to raise for beef, and they gave her to us in the bargain. She was a runt, but she made a fine pet for a few years. She developed tumors along her neck, and we had to have her put down. At least we gave her a pleasant life while we could.

My country (Thailand) 1 dollar can buy -A bowl of noodle -A fried basil with mince pork on rice (kaw pad kra pao) -Some curry on rice (kaw rad kang) -A medium size of Lay -20 slices of bread -A glasses of smooty yogert
Go to costco, grab a rotisserie chicken some rice and frozen mixed vegetables and eggs. Boom, weeks worth of food for about 15 bucks. Yes... Im in college and i need to get back to studying. Oh yea and a bunch of different hot sauses because lets be real, you cant afford flavor.
when looking for food imagine 5 categories in front of you when you eat (4 foods 1 drink) 1-Carbs (potatoes/rice e.c.t) 2-Protein (chicken/beef e.c.t) 3-Fresh Vegetable + Cooked vegetables (Carrots/tomatos e.c.t) + (onions to add with mince for example or cooked asparagus e.c.t) 4-Fruit 5-Hydration (Tea/Milk/Water e.c.t) and always eat salty/plain meals with bread (black/white, sweet and sour, seeded/seedless, doesnt matter just get bread) - fills you up more out of these categories pick the most affordable things and you should be good to go for weeks if you pick a couple of each item try make things in big pots so you can store them in fridge to eat next day or/and the day after (anything that can be refrigerated) To a lot of people spending £10+ on food for one person every day is not cheap, a month that can get to 240+ on food, multiplies with every extra person to feed. a family of 3 can spend over 600 a month on these recipes. Not very affordable to people on minimal wage for example - especially if theres 2 or more people to feed but only 1 person in the house getting income
You guys, food in the US is so expensive. 😲It's easily 4x more than Germany for basics like flour, sugar, or vegetables. It seems like they actually want to discourage people from cooking at home.🤔 I was shocked at the prices when we went back to visit my family! For almost everyone, fast food and restaurants are cheaper than cooking, which is so unhealthy.
But it also depends how you shop, and location. Say you were in Los Angelas, the food will more expensive then going to Ohio. The grocery stores put all the expensive stuff at eye level so thats the first thing you see. So look up or down if you want the cheaper things. Buy more off brand stuff too because they can be the same exacthing but for a cheaper price. And a plus, most grocery stores have all the things you need around aisles so if you avoid the aisles, then you will also save money 😊
@Bella Muffin shopping smart is really the key to cooking cheap and it is not as easy as you could think, a very good point. I don't think I have mastered this skill just yet ;)
@NochSoEinKaddiFan Oh I completely understand! I help my mom with shopping and it took a while for me to figure out "Why can't we just get the things and go?" Over time I realized the stores secrets and everyone shops different and some people, like as you stated, haven't mastered the skills. I'm still working myself but hey, there is always something new to learn :P

im not joking, here i cant buy a a pizza with 4 burgers that's have oversized zinger and a 1.5 liter coke for 10 dollar like even that here is considered expensive
Smoothie prep is overrated and kinda unnecessary. It's easier to wake up in the morning and roughly cut whatever fruit I want into the blender, it'll all get blended anyway. Cutting using a board, putting it into bags, freezing, etc is too much effort
If is in the bag already, you take it out of the bag, put it into the blender, and blend. If this is done ahead of time, it is quicker. Most people do not have time toi chop fruit before going to work, so some people do a weeks worth of smoothies ahead of time. much quicker when you are going to work or school in the morning.
what about fried eggs and mashed potatoes? ramen recipes? big ass pot of vegetable stew? sandwiches? now that's cheap. Do a video on that. "10$ a week" food. lol
Such great ideas... It is sad that if a person truly is in a low income, they cannot afford these ingredients. Makes me realize that i need to be very thankful
Because here in the northern part of the U.S. Fruits aren't in season in the winter. If you can get farm fresh fruits when they're in season you can freeze them for the winter.
What I cook every week: 500 grams tofu (€1), 500 grams frozen vegetables (€0.90), fresh vegetables (€~1.20) and some rice (~€0.50). I fry small tofu cubes and then stir fry it with the vegetables, soy sauce, fish sauce and when it's all warm some oyster sauce. With two people, we can eat for two days. Which would make it 90 cents for one meal.
Why in the world did you bake those basel leaves with the pizza? Don't you know herbs are supposed to be added afterwards or else they turn bitter af? Do you also cook the lettuce with the burger? Jeez...
Rice, potatoes, peas, carrots, chicken, cheese, bread, flour, tomato sauce, butter, spinach, Apple, banana. Use these ingredients to make your food and it will be true cheap healthy eating.
You are not going to eat all of this at one time. This can last for a few days, so that would make it less than $5. Does anyone cook?

I thought this said lost-cow
Alex Westphal, I had a low cow. A heifer, actually. Her name was Bambi. Sweet thing. We went to pick up a couple of week old steers to raise for beef, and they gave her to us in the bargain.
She was a runt, but she made a fine pet for a few years. She developed tumors along her neck, and we had to have her put down. At least we gave her a pleasant life while we could.
Burning Noodles [RO], l grew up on a farm. Duh.
Jason Bean Still a bit random, except from the fact that it’s about a cow.
@@jasonbean7296 lol we kill our cows after a year and take their beef and eat it a0 dollar cost bcs our familys just get farms for free bcs ohr grandpardnts had farms maybe 1 dollar to hire somebody to do the job to feed it
Just find a kid and hell do that asap
Make sure the cow is lost before you eat it
I would describe these meals as airline food
Tasty airline food that needs to be in my mouth right now and can actually satisfy me throughout the whole trip
Thank you! These are perfect for on the go, easy meals
My country (Thailand) 1 dollar can buy
-A bowl of noodle
-A fried basil with mince pork on rice (kaw pad kra pao)
-Some curry on rice (kaw rad kang)
-A medium size of Lay
-20 slices of bread
-A glasses of smooty yogert
Go to costco, grab a rotisserie chicken some rice and frozen mixed vegetables and eggs. Boom, weeks worth of food for about 15 bucks. Yes... Im in college and i need to get back to studying. Oh yea and a bunch of different hot sauses because lets be real, you cant afford flavor.
Watching that smoothie pour was really satisfying
Whoever u are have a wonderful day!!!!!
For the smoothies, a tip to make them even cheaper, most of the fruits shown are available frozen from the shop and are actually cheaper
They used dinner rolls for BREAKFAST Sandwiches. Ironic.
Left-handed Gunner LOL
And delicious
don’t discriminate the rolls bro
The meals are ingredient’s cost before per serving. Eg: the smoothies. Buy the bag of mango, $X and divide into y number of servings.
Low cost..?
mariejosephpaulyvesrochgilbertdumotiermarquisdelaf what do u wanna eat? Dust? U can have it for free if u want
when looking for food imagine 5 categories in front of you when you eat (4 foods 1 drink)
1-Carbs (potatoes/rice e.c.t)
2-Protein (chicken/beef e.c.t)
3-Fresh Vegetable + Cooked vegetables (Carrots/tomatos e.c.t) + (onions to add with mince for example or cooked asparagus e.c.t)
4-Fruit
5-Hydration (Tea/Milk/Water e.c.t)
and always eat salty/plain meals with bread (black/white, sweet and sour, seeded/seedless, doesnt matter just get bread) - fills you up more
out of these categories pick the most affordable things and you should be good to go for weeks if you pick a couple of each item
try make things in big pots so you can store them in fridge to eat next day or/and the day after (anything that can be refrigerated)
To a lot of people spending £10+ on food for one person every day is not cheap, a month that can get to 240+ on food, multiplies with every extra person to feed. a family of 3 can spend over 600 a month on these recipes.
For almost everyone, fast food and restaurants are cheaper than cooking, which is so unhealthy.
and I just bought 3 pumpkins for these weeks meals xD pretty sure all plates an average under 3 euros.
Yeah but drugs and hookers are way more expensive in Germany, so it balances out.
Vegan Recipes (if you don't want to substitute anything): The pasta at the end (If you have the vegan marinara and Alfredo.)
If you guys want cheap foods that are actually good, go to brothers green eats channel they'll show you better and cheaper meals than buzzfeed
I am a savvy shopper. I see ppl complaining that the ingredients are too expensive. I can make this work for me and my family.
Still to expensive

Oh you BROKE broke
Wow. You think that dinner rolls (which doesn't exist in Pakistan), scrambled eggs, ham slices (which are also not available in Pakistan), cheddar cheese, cooked bacon (can't eat for technical reason), melted butter and spinach altogether is low cost? If yes, you have a problem.
Did you count in electricity billing, equipment cost, and time when calculating the price?
Christien Wong that's not food. You can't cook electricity you need it to cook. Silly wong
Thx for pointing Out my mistake! :):):):)
Christien Wong your welcome wong anytime :)
add protein powder to the smoothies to make them even better and for some natural fiber at some flax seeds
Food in America is truly expensive as hell. Here in Italy the same things would cost HALF
He'll isn't all that expensive.
i literally explained why i find things more expensive in america? lmao?
As a bachelor, I like these pre prepped low cost videos. More of these please!
These are more expensive than all my meals
im not joking, here i cant buy a a pizza with 4 burgers that's have oversized zinger and a 1.5 liter coke for 10 dollar like even that here is considered expensive
Reheating alfredo sauce is a great way to have it split into butter and parmesan clumps. Not entirely appetizing.
Most people do not have time toi chop fruit before going to work, so some people do a weeks worth of smoothies ahead of time. much quicker when you are going to work or school in the morning.
smoothies are meant to be cold aren’t they?
what about fried eggs and mashed potatoes? ramen recipes? big ass pot of vegetable stew? sandwiches? now that's cheap. Do a video on that. "10$ a week" food. lol
Not only does this save money but it's so much healthier.
Low cost? Cereal is cheaper and lasts way longer! Being frugal means not eating frozen yogurt that has been prepared months in advance
Being frugal means learning to cook. That will allow you to save money. Nobody wants to eat cereal everyday. Adults should know how to cook.
Bro Best VIDEO EVER!!! Thank you these ideas are Genius!
It's still too expensive.
#tip: if you want to save on hardware as well: buy reusable containers/boxes of glass so they can also go into the oven.
where's friday?
Such great ideas...
It is sad that if a person truly is in a low income, they cannot afford these ingredients.
Makes me realize that i need to be very thankful
Freeze fruits for 3 months? Why?
nav tej at most 3 months
Because here in the northern part of the U.S. Fruits aren't in season in the winter. If you can get farm fresh fruits when they're in season you can freeze them for the winter.
Food keeps for long in da freezer way more dan three months
No, 3 months is how long you can keep them before they go bad
What I cook every week: 500 grams tofu (€1), 500 grams frozen vegetables (€0.90), fresh vegetables (€~1.20) and some rice (~€0.50). I fry small tofu cubes and then stir fry it with the vegetables, soy sauce, fish sauce and when it's all warm some oyster sauce. With two people, we can eat for two days. Which would make it 90 cents for one meal.
Yall just reusing all the old videos lol
강다은 ur 짱구 profile❤️
that eggs sliders video was uploadede 2 days ago,lol
It helps me remember old stuff that I forget about.
Views!

Kids healthy lunch ideas please
Ellen Brouillette Pinterest it's never ending
Pizza
those smoothies look so good, but in Canada in the middle of winter raspberrys cost about 15$
Why in the world did you bake those basel leaves with the pizza? Don't you know herbs are supposed to be added afterwards or else they turn bitter af? Do you also cook the lettuce with the burger? Jeez...
They are more luxurious than my whole-effort prepared meals :b
In India 5$ is like 350rs. Which is way expensive. In 350rs a person can eat about 3 days of meal. Great job done tasty(this is sarcastic)
Avin Sharma Arey Bhai bhai Bhai koi nagarpalika ko bulao
Clearly, this video is out for the South Asians I guess. I mean $4 = 5days * 3 meals a day😮
29oz can of mixed vegetables, 13.5oz can of spinach, 4 cups of water, salt..heat and serve w crackers or bread. = $4.39.. serves 11
$5 a serving is not low cost. I can eat fast food or takeout for less than that.
Really? How much do you spend on an average meal? Learn to cook.
I like how in the beginning it says under 5 dollars but the breakfast sandwich costs you 12 dollars to but the items (unless if already have them
how the hell is it cheap where we can get full meal in 1.2$ still here in India
US cheap
Looks sooo tasty and easy to make. But the ingredients are definitely still expensive, especially where I live lol.
*People that live in California* : I beg to differ.
For the breakfast smoothies I was not expecting “freeze up to 3 months” I don’t got time for that!!
Food is not so cheap in sweden
Freezing fruits up to 3 months is something I've never heard of for a smoothie
Hey Tasty Can You Make A Video On Food Under 300 Calories Thanks...
Just have a small portion, then it can always be under 300 calories xxx
Rice, potatoes, peas, carrots, chicken, cheese, bread, flour, tomato sauce, butter, spinach, Apple, banana. Use these ingredients to make your food and it will be true cheap healthy eating.
lie. the thumbnail said under 5$ and the first recipe costs $12.64
Reshiram52 under $5 per serving, you don't eat all 12 in a sitting
Well I would eat all 12
They meant $5.00 in dog years.
You are not going to eat all of this at one time. This can last for a few days, so that would make it less than $5. Does anyone cook?
Ok that's it I'm eating nothing but these types of meals for the rest of my life! This will help me greatly when it comes to having fuel that gives me a boost for my work outs!
Those fruit smoothies are NOT cheap...dafaq.
Just... naan bread, basil, cheese, tomatoes (and maybe olive oil if you have some) then make a pizza and stick that in a toaster oven
Thats so much money my mum made a delicious dinner serving 30p each baboom tasty
Cool... **has toast for breakfast lunch and dinner**
Month old frozen basil? No thanks
The music is absolutely fantastic! Would appreciate if someone could share a link
Love chicken tasty!
Cruelty Free Gains you like chicken now?
The Funtastic Three hell yea
Cruelty Free Gains what happened to being vegan? I’m so confused!
The Funtastic Three I just gave up on it.Eating meat is just so damn tasty dude!
Cruelty Free Gains ok. I can’t tell if you’re kidding but okay...
How cheaper this video would have been if it was set in the UK. Vegetables are soo cheap and a big bag of pasta £3!
Still too expensive..
Great music; Great recipes; Great videos!!!
CAN YOU PUT THE FUKIN RECIPES IN THE DESCRIPTION?!?!?!
FUCKING NO !!!
Where I live berries are very expensive
Freez up to 3 months *song plays* HEL NOH TO THE NOH NOH NOH EDIT: first to like my comment
What's wrong with freezing things? You can save a lot of money by buying produce when it's in season and freezing it.
People say these aren't actually cheap, but we gotta think about where Tasty is located. Different places have different prices for living.
I don’t think they included the electricity bill
Joanna Sun you can't eat electricity bill it's not food
Fifi who proved that to be tru😂
Joanna Sun haha it was not intended for the video dude. .. just cooking portion lol
And what about the price of the Oreos you keep stuffing into your mouth while watching this video?
bentleyr00d its priceless!!! LOOOOOL
This video is everything!!! Thank you!
"low cost"
