It’s called a offset smoker. They’ve been around way longer than Aaron Franklin been alive

Seeing you tackle and finish the smoker gives me hope. I already got a 325gal propane tank that I’m going to purge next week to prep for building my dream offset. Any advice when cutting out the doors? Did you have any cutting wheels get stuck and sheer off on you?

Are you using a flux core welder? Thinking about building one of these myself!! Looks great!!

I'm using a Campbell Hausfeld MIG/Flux Core welder, but I'm using solid wire, not flux core.

Rods for which part? For the smoke stack, it was 8 inch Schedule 40 pipe.

Hey can you please tell me what type of blades you used and how many you went through

For the doors, I went through 4 cut wheels that I got from Home Depot. They are 6" or 6 1/2" wheels and they cost around $4 each.

Im just planning mine right now, but wouldnt it be easier to cut out the openings with a acetylene torch or plasma cutter? Again, just tossing ideas around. What made you choose cutoff wheels?

On your comment about a cutting torch, cutting tanks and containers with a torch is dangerous. People get away with it, but unburned fuel can accumulate inside and cause an explosion.

I was a 'Hot Tap' pipeline welder for thirty-five years. You are absolutely right. Especially on tanks!
