Took a -4 to bring Burn and Jackson. I have 11 doublers with areola, Saka, Gabriel and doughty. Do I take an extra hit or two for vicario, brantwaithe or Romero for doughty?
Cant wait for this GW its the one I've been building for since GW30. Seriously considering captaining Gordon I love the look of his fixtures and he's been great for me all season.
@@FPLFran Haaland for sure is the smart pick with a higher ceiling. If I wasn't chasing rank so much I would go for him. There will be goals when he vs TOT but FUL can be solid at home... as opposed to Gordons 2 amazing fixtures. I'm essentially taking a risky gamble and hoping for a big point swing in my favor
Haven’t got lucky with any of my bench players coming in, so some people miss out on Foden playing and get Son 7 pointer. I don’t get Maguire and he gets replaced with Porro, just random decisions like that haven’t went my way often. A lot of people fluke getting someone decent off the bench I’ve noticed this season
Hey Fran, absolutely messed up captaining Palmer last week. I'm thinking of doing gusto to dunk/romero then Hojlund to Jackson. Then I'm thinking if a -8 is worth it to do garnacho to richarlison. Any thoughts on this?
Sadly not - think all the relevant picks have been well documented. I'd probably go Petro Gvardiol Porro Burn Gordon Johnson Palmer Son Jackson Haaland Isak If you want differentials - can always go for Bruno, Romero/VDV.
I don’t quite get your arguments for going for Onana when you mention his total points, his past achievements this season and so on when you regarding other players say that these metrics are irrelevant. To me it’s hard to see a consistency in your way of assessing different players. Sometimes you see seem to ignore statistics completely and sometimes you don’t. Sometimes fixtures and form is king and suddenly it.s not. I would argue Onana’s and Man U’s form is quite dreadful and that playing Arsenal and Newcastle very likely will mean conceding goals no matter his total points or earlier achievements against teams like Everton, West Ham and the totally leftfield Liverpool match. Would you care to explain? This is by no means me criticizing your decisions, because you are clearly a much better FPL player than me, I’m just genuinely curious about how your mind works regarding this game 😊
I don't look at Onana's total points and make decisions based on that. I am just saying that Onana is living proof that playing for an awful defence is not a hindrance to getting FPL points as a goalkeeper as save points exist, which is exactly what I'm hoping will happen vs ARS/NEW. I would agree with you if you were applying the logic you mentioned to a MUN defender since they don't benefit from saves. The best statistics in FPL to pay attention to are xG and xA for attackers (people with high xA/90 or high xG per 90) are the most important. I do not really evaluate form, as this is always something that comes with hindsight so I evaluate fixtures. Shots per game is another important one too IMO (as you get FPL assists for rebounds). The only other intangibles to look at are set pieces + penalties. For defenders, it is a mix of shots per game, xGI/90, and their team's xGC relative to peers, and their historic team strength? e.g. last season, etc. Also set pieces as per usual. For GKs I would look at stats like shots allowed (to see if saves are a thing - which Onana's team does a lot and is a huge bonus for potential save pooints), on top of their xGC (which is awful for Onana so a huge negative). But the reason why I am going for Onana (or did in the end), is because Flekken has 2 fewer app points, and was away from home versus a strong team too so I wanted to take a gamble that Gusto with 1 potential start could outscore given that I wasn't that high on Burn who would bee my Gustoo transfer alternative. Sometimes it's also about seeing the alternatives, instead of just looking in a vacuum as I recognise Onana is just a horrendous pick on paper. To evaluate fixtures runs in general I mostly look at teams via their xG and xGC and build a table in my head of how weak or strong teams are on offence or defence - this should be evaluated separately. Home and Away is HUGELY important too in thinking how strong a team can perform or how weak.
@@FPLFran Thank you very much for a thorough and detailed answer. Kind of you to spend your time doing this. I must admit I do disagree with you that form is always something that comes with hindsight. I would claim that if a player has perfomed well several matches in a row there is a high chance of him doing so again. Of course I also consider fixtures difficulty. A player like Foden f.ex. hasn´t really perfomed that well against difficult opposition, while other players might even be the opposite (no names comes to mind at the moment). However if a player seems to do well no matter if the fixture looks easy or difficult I´m less hesitant to pick him than others. I just like having players I don´t have to bench 50% of the matches like f.ex. Gordon ;-)
@@FPL-Tony To me though, someone who exhibits good form would usually have good data as well - so it's a bit of a two way street. And if their fixtures get worse I'm a bit more comfortable thinking their form will tail off, exactly as you've given with the Foden example. Whilst it can happen seasonally (e.g. Salah or Son having great seasons vs big teams), the general data trend is better players perform better versus worse teams. This is what gambling odds reflect too
Hi Fran! Burn and Vicario as my Newcastle/Spurs defense or Van de Ven and Pope? Or is it better to swap Garnacho for Gordon and get in Van de Ven/Livramento - so I can pick Verbruggen in goal (or Dubravka if he starts)? OR is it better to just get in Livramento/Van de Ven so I can get in two strong keepers (have Flekken and Neto).
Hey Fran! Your team looks great. I have Garnacho, Maguire, Pedro Porro for now should I take -8 to get Richarlison, Romero and Branthwaite? or just get a Maguire replacement and avoid taking hits

Hello Fran. My BB is active & I unfortunately don’t have Haaland so to get him, I‘m gonna have to take -8 by taking out Watkins Gvardiol and 1 more player (likely Bruno Fernandes). 1. are u with such a move especially that Bruno is in doubt? 2. would you take a -12 to also take Maguire out and bring another non injured player? I like Romero for Doughty tbh. Areola has a good game.
Sup fran! I have dalot, gusto, hall will u sell any for a everton def and who will u sell out of these 😂
I'd sell Gusto probably but it's not really worth it unless you have 0 other moves to make.

Would have said Webster if I got to this on time, sorry mate.
Which is more nailed Livremento or Hall??
IMO it's Hall but many disagree with me. It just shows it's a bit unsafe

Thought on Richarlison over Saka as a differential for the double GW ? i'll bring back Saka in GW 38.
it has to be Johnson time now
Why not just upgrade Pau to a Castle defender? Or upgrade keeper to someone you’ll use in GW38
