Brother is still defending Berhalter? We haven’t beaten a top team and he’s had 4 years to work with these players. He’s doing the bare minimum. We don’t need to do a bare minimum, we need the best and he doesn’t offer that long term. We’ve seen this before, wins a cup, loses to European team during friendlies. We will not even reach the semi finals of copa America or quarter finals if we can’t punch above our weight and Berhalter has not punched above his weight with the best players in North America for 4 years now.

I'm Mexican American and I root for both teams Mexico a little bit more. Honestly I thought USA was going to win simply based on talent. Mexico ain't going to get better until the federation gets their act together they won't. And honestly for USMNT this win means very little because USA has already proven to be better than this iteration of Mexico. For all the talent that USMNT has we have a lame duck head coach who is literally doing the bare minimum to keep his job and does not bring out the best of this squad. He still has no notable wins outside of beating Mexico. His ceiling is losing 3-1 to the Netherlands.
No one doubts GGG managing this talent pool @ Home in CONCACAF matches! His teams are "God level" during every Gold Cup and Nation's League and WCQ match (25-1-2 // 74F 12A) So, the answer is to simply HOST everything? The US has been trying their damndest (and succeeding) in getting the MOST of their players and making sure they are being developed and PLAYING.

I have no idea what the plan is and don’t see the end of it, I could possibly count on my fingers the amount of players that MAY, not will, MAY contribute (Chucky is probably the one guarantee…after that? Raul Jimenez? Can he stay fit and is he too old now? Santi Gimenez? He’s going off in Feyenoord, but is he really it? Luis Chavez? Alexis Vega? Cesar Montes? He’s good, but he’s a damn fullback, what can you do from the fullback position???
What’s even crazier is that the results will not matter in this cycle, why? THEY ARE ALREADY QUALIFIED TO THE WORLD CUP….and they will obviously see that there is no need to risk anything because there is nothing to lose.

Giving GGG credit for FINALLY having good rosters, FINALLY having good lineups, FINALLY making good subs is one thing, but saying GGG is “that guy” for the US right now? Absolutely ridiculous. Putting aside the nepotism of the USSF, GGG’s best attribute is he’s well liked by the player pool. If he’s well liked, then he’d be able to bring the team’s intensity up during actual competition and not just CONCACAF where we’ve proved by doing the bare minimum we can get trophies. GGG is a mediocre international coach. Maybe he’d be a better club coach but saying he’s the best coach for the US is the kind of opinion you make when you’re high off a win.

The problem with Berhalter is the mindset he instills in our team... Most games, we dont have the killer instinct. Yeah, we beat mexico, but we still never looked "ruthless." He is the fun uncle, but we need a strict dad in there somewhere. And we have had many performances in a row that have been poor: oman, Germany, T&T, and Jamaica were all lackluster performances...

Bro didn’t watch game… Reyna was positioned deep, not as an attacking midfielder. And until BJ Callahan did it last nation’s league, Reyna hasn’t played centrally. Instead we always played a defensive Adams, musah, mckennie midfield.

This is a major sidenote, but off of Reynoso's comments of CP10 and his abilities against MEX.... Christian straight cooks Jorge Sanchez EVERYTIME US plays MEX for the past few years. Last years CNL semifinal match he twisted Sanchez up like a pretzel and this year that little run to the touch line and flick right over the top of Jorge to create that rebound goal for Gio was AMAZING. I love seeing Puli cook the Mexican team it gives me the biggest smile on my face really.

A Mexican team comprised of mostly Liga MX players isnt gonna get it done anymore even at the concacaf level for Mexico. Their league is gonna have to accept that for the sake of the national team they need to make it easier for their guys to challenge themselves in Europe.
I'll be honest I'm starting to worry if *everyone* is going down the drain in CONCACAF, lol. The US is shaky, whether you think that's because of their coach or not, Mexico is as weak as it's ever been, Canada is feeble now (and I do fully put the blame on the coach for this one, Herdman was actually an amazing coach and people underrate his performance in the world cup and prior, we could've beaten Belgium and Morocco if there weren't the unused-to-pressure nervousness from the team, and now we have this interim coach who just isn't inspiring at all), and even Panama and Costa Rica seem kinda flaky, with Panama losing to Jamaica. We'll have to see how things go in the Copa America, but I am starting to feel like being the "best in CONCACAF" isn't an awe-inspiring title at the moment.

Beating Mexico and dominating CONCACAF should be the standard and the expectation, not an achievement. The US needs a coach that can get them upsets against the top countries. They have the quality in the player pool to do so.
