I went to a professional from being quite light balayage to a level 2/3 and it faded super quickly and went a strange colour. Now i know as it should have been filled.
we’re so glad this video could provide you with a lot of information and insight to avoid having a similar experience in the future! thank you for supporting our channel xoxo
Yes my colorist recently did what looked like an amazing job bringing me darker with a full head of lowlights. Two washes with a brunette specific shampoo and my hair is a light muddy blonde/brown it’s yucky. High end salon too!
Thank you for the video! I especially appreciate the colour chart pictured when you were choosing colour; I have level 10 hair and I'm going to go to about a 7 ash blonde but I wasn't 100% sure exactly what to fill with to get to that level seeing as I am not going super dark like most tutorials on YT show. I had picked up a light copper blonde to fill my hair before going ash med/dark blonde so I am pleased to see that is probably going to be the right pigment I need to put back into my hair before I colour it darker.

Hi, I did exactly that put a chocolate brown over my faded high lighted hair and it’s a muddy/ green colour with dark roots , what can I now do to correct this so I have a rich chestnut colour with a 6 base? Please help. Many thanks in asvance
hi Michelle! thank you for your question/comment :) you would need to restore the underlying pigment that is missing. we always recommend that people check out our law of colour video to get a better idea of this concept. you can view it here: bit.ly/2yDbodx then let us know if you have any further questions xoxo
Hello ladies, do the same principle applies to grey hair? I mean should I fill up my clients hair first? I have a client that comes for roots, she is super white and we color her to a level 6, there is a green tint at the roots... love your videos!
hi Francine! great question :) if the client is 50+% grey/ white, we suggest adding some "natural" into the formulation to ensure full coverage. 75-100% grey add a tiny bit of the darker level (so in that case, a bit of level 5 into the formulation). hope this helps xoxo
Such an educational video! Need some advice, my hair was box dyed black (terrible I know) back in July August professionally it was lightened with a partial balayage. The result was a reddish / copper toned which I loved but it faded quickly and was then professionally glossed to give an all over dimensional black/brunette. The gloss has faded showing the brassy balayage again and I have way too much on my plate to get into the salon. I have natural roots, faded black its more a very dark brown now, and the highlights. I want to go back to the all over dark brown which I know won't go over any black, but what shades do you recommend for the filling process? I was thinking of mixing Wella 7RR and Wella 7WG. Both are demi, then for a final using 411/4N a medium brown. Will these shades work together? Thank you so much!
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm not overly familiar with Wella's product line BUT red is a strong pigment. I dont think you would need a 7RR to fill. I would maybe fill with a 6Red Copper or 6 Red gold and then proceed with your final color. If the red shows through more than you like then using an ash as your final color will help to neutralize the extra red
Every video I research seems to have someone with bleached hair. Do I still have to tone or fill with natural dark blonde hair to get brown hair? I don’t remember having to do this ten years ago…
I have a question I had a level 9 and 10 balyage and I didn't do my research as I should and went straight in with a 6nv AND now what was blonde is purple how can I fix this was going for a light brown and the lady at Sally told me I should get this
what level of light brown? do you have an exact formula? if your hair now is darker than you need it to be I would get pravana color remover and just strip it back out and refill it again. purple isn't going to be easy to neutralize and will annoy you till the end of time. UNLESS, you are ok with a violet hued brown (which are also pretty..just depends on what you are going for exactly)💕💕💕 btw, if you want to enter to win some hair care (no purchase necessary 🙆♀️), we do a MONTHLY HAIR PRODUCT GIVEAWAY🤗. you can enter at www.nvenn.com/giveaway . if you decide to enter, GOOD LUCK 🍀.
So my hair was a level 7-8 and I put a non-oxidative violet over top (L’Oréal colorista) and it’s faded over the past four months to a very light green color!! I want to go back to my natural level 4 so if I put a Demi red over top to cancel out the green and replace pigment, then dye level 4 on top would that work?
hhmmm its hard to say without seeing how green your hair is. red is a really strong pigment so it will leave a warm result. is it ok if you see red in your hair after or no? BTW remember to enter out monthly product giveaway "www.nvenn.com/giveaway", the next draw is on sept 30🙆we will be giving away a 'split end trio'
I did not fill my daughters bleach blonde hair. Now it looks exactly like you described; faded and muddy green on the ends but more red coming through up top for some reason. It’s been 2 weeks since I colored her. Can I apply a filler now and then recolor? If so, what color filler should I use?
yes you can. The filler would depend on how dark the brown is that you are putting on her. Here is a video that will help you understand how to formulate properly. ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html hopefully this helps
hi I have my underlayer bleached and I'm thinking of dying my whole hair at a 6.17 color level, what level of color fill should I use to match my natural dark brown hair and make it even?
I'd have to see your brown hair to be able to accurately formulate. A true chocolate brown needs warmth. Sometimes gold and copper is enough, and sometimes you need red as well. Have you seen our law of color video?
Hi! I’m a hairstylist and I’m struggling a bit and hopefully you can help me. My client is at a level 9 and I’m just really stuck on which color filler I need. She wants to go back to black hair color and I’m just feeling really stuck on which filler to use!
Ohhh yes! Add in yellow, red, and violet before putting on the black. We have a course teaching how to formulate (and a whole bunch of other things) if that interests you. www.10kandplay.com ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html Here is a video about the law of color that might help you as well.
hi!! i loved the video, super insightful. i added highlights to my medium brown hair a couple months ago and want to go to a darker brownish color now, slightly darker then my natural color. the highlights aren’t super light should i still use a filler since i’m going to dark brown? thank u so much.
@veronicaa.paigee if there is more than 3 levels of difference between your current color and your desired color then yes you will want to fill it first to have the best result! here is a video explaining how to figure out your filler color. ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html 🍀
Not in this case. A level 4 has more underpigment than a level 7 would have. You would have to restore all the missing pigment from a level 9 to at least a level 5. Then color it with your desired shade. Are you a hairstylist? 🙃we have a private Facebook group for hairstylists that have an abundance of hair educators in
Hi, I have bleached hair. My roots are about a year grown out and the ends are very yellow blonde. I want to go a light brown all over but not sure what steps to take first?
oh you need to restore the missing pigment. ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html this will explain which pigments. btw, we are doing a free hair product GIVEAWAY TONIGHT for 'nvenn's split end trio' (no purchase necessary). these products are the BEST for SEALING your split ends. if you want to enter, you can do so at www.nvenn.com/giveaway 😘
Hi I bleached my hair and dyed ash brown. I dyed my hair blue and it turned green. I stripped the colors out using vitamin C and shampoo and now it’s back to ash brown. I want to dye my hair to a rich brown level 3 but scared that it’ll turn green without doing the filler. I’m not sure which one I should go for my hair is a medium light ash brown.
If your hair is already an ash brown, throwing a warmer brown on will cancel the green (giving it a "richer" / deeper color). Its best to consult with a professional though. You would fill your hair according to what you want your final color to be
I havent bleached my hair in literally a year. I went to a professional to dye my hair brown recently and it washed out after 1 wash!! You think filler is all I need? I thought my hair was healthy enough to dye again
Hi, my hair dye faded so now I have orange, bleached-looking level 5 hair and want to go to a level 5 neutral brown. Since I'm not darkening the level of my hair, does that mean I don't have to fill my hair and can just apply 5N hair dye?
no fill necessary just put in a bit of ash and that will take you to neutral 😘 ps it's our 9th birthday today! we are giving away our clean dry shampoo! if you want to enter all you need to do is post a selfie on instagram. check out @nvennhairbeauty on insta for the details 🥳 winner will be announced tonight at 10pm MST #goodluck
it depends what level your hair is now and what level of brown you would want. here is another video that will help you to understand how to formulate. I couldn't give you a formula unless I could see your hair in real life💕 ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html
Color over it with a L3 or L4 Green based ash. Red is a strong pigment, sometimes it might be better to use a copper with a little red in it as the filler rather than a straight red. How long have you been doing hair for?
Just wondering what color you would use to correct a slight green tone in the hair. And the roots that pulled to gold while maintaining a level 7-8 and wanting it to be cool toned
hi cassondra! that is tricky because every color correction is different. it depends what made it green in the first place and how green it actually is. to truly neutralize green you'd need to use red. that being said, red is a strong color and if you want the end result to be cooler there's a chance that it would show through. instead you can try to fill with a subtle gold and copper in a level 8 then colour it to your desired end level. if you’re desired end level is an 8, then skip the copper, if you’re doing a level 7 fill the hair with a gold copper for more information when it comes to color, we recommend you watch our law of color video here: ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html
Let’s say I do all this process would it still be a possibility that once I start washing my hair the color I put on top would wash off even with the filler ?
All colors (even ones that don't need a filler) will fade to some degree. I usually tell my clients every 6 weeks is the best for a bright and shiny color. Once your hair is healthier (or if it is already healthy) there won't be a ton of fading
So because of covid19, I wasnt feeling my grown out blonde anymore, and grew impatient lol and box dyed my hair with "Olia dark soft mahogany", I didnt see a video about having to FILL my hair first andddd of course, my middle to ends are a washed out hollow looking brown, the roots are great, my question is.... am I able to correct this by filling the ends with some reddish orange dye?? Help lol something to get me by satisfied til covid is over!🥺🙏
hello yes! you can always fill it and recolor it! filling is just a bit trickier now though because you need to account for the pigment that was left behind from your initial color. ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html this video might help you understand how to formulate for your fill color a bit better. btw, we do a monthly hair product giveaway for our split end trio (no purchase necessary). these products are EXCELLENT for fine hair types! if you are interested in entering, you can do so at www.nvenn.com/giveaway 😘. we just drew for may's winner, now on to JUNE!
Hi, I was wandering if you could help me? I normally have mousey brown hair but pulled some highlights through, the highlights aren't super blonde but more golden/darker. Im wanting to dye it back I normally use a medium ash brown am okay to put this on or any brown for that matter without a filler colour? Last time I tried a filler colour I couldn't get the red out no matter what so don't know what to do, would really appreciate some help :)
yes i will try to help. you only need to fill the hair if you are going 3 levels or more darker. by the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like you need a filler. try it without and see how the results last. you can always fill it after and recolor it. red is a tricky pigment to work with. unless you are going into the darker browns, copper is usually a suitable filler pigment. btw, we do a monthly hair product giveaway for our split end trio (no purchase necessary). these products are EXCELLENT for fine hair types! if you are interested in entering, you can do so at www.nvenn.com/giveaway 😘. we just drew for may's winner, now on to JUNE!
Hi, I have naturally medium brown hair and im asian. I also dyed my hair black last year and stripped it. I now have highlights and want to achieve a darkish brown look . I possibly still have black in my hair but if I put a medium brown or dark colour on it .. will it go black?? Great video btw xx
thank you 💕. the only way your hair will go black is if you put black on it. unless its box dye then I have no clue. I hear stories about how box dye colors peoples hair black all the time 😅
I was very blonde and didnt see videos about filling my hair first. Ive already died it brown and got the green tone. Do i need to fill over that and do the brown i want or just go ahead with the brown i want? Thanks!
Is it possible to colour fill brown hair that has faded to the warmer tones? I have been toning my hair but it keeps fading back to the red tones when I want to have level 3 hair that’s more manageable x
nvennhairbeauty once every 3 months now, i was blonde at the start of quarantine and I just went over the blonde with a brown box dye so I obviously didn’t fill in my hair properly, would I have to strip the colour out and then do the filling process? Thanks so much for replying! X
@@izziedwora847 you only need to strip it if it's too dark. It sounds like you want it darker though to cover the red. Is the color saturated when you first wash it out?
nvennhairbeauty yes it is, would it make sense to use reds and purple then go over it with a brown? Or would the colour red still come through? Thanks so much for replying a lot of hairdressers didn’t understand what I was trying to explain to them 🤣 xx
We would charge 95-115/ fill (it depends on how thick the person's hair is and how much color they need). On average people need anywhere from 1-3 fills depending on how blonde they are and how dark they are going.
I was an ombre, icy blonde, with natural dark blonde roots. I filled, then dyed. I'm now a chestnut brown. It's too dark. Now what? I think a honey brown would be better suited for me. Using Wella products.
you could use pravana color remover and start fresh OR if your hair is healthy enough, you could just get some highlights through it to lighten it up a bit too. the dimension would be pretty 😍. btw, if you want to enter to win some hair care (no purchase necessary 🙆♀️), we do a MONTHLY HAIR PRODUCT GIVEAWAY🤗. you can enter at www.nvenn.com/giveaway . if you decide to enter, GOOD LUCK 🍀.
My hair is a level 7 with some level 8 highlighting from being outside. I would like to go to a level 5 maybe 4. I am just wondering if I need a filler for this? My hair is natural and not dyed in many years. And I got a big chop at the beginning of the year, removing what had been dyed. I do have the natural highlights of lighter levels from being out in the sun during the summer though. I can not find any information online regarding hair that hasn’t been dyed and filler. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
hellloo indigo queen! for someone that doesn't do hair, i am BEYOND impressed with your knowledge of levels. honestly, if i was doing your hair i would skip the "fill color". technically you don't have anything to fill because it isn't process. your hair might take a couple colors to really get the depth and saturation that you want but you can always color it a second time afterwards if it needed it. it just depends. some color lines are more translucent that others so if that's true for the color line you are using, just mix it one to one and make sure that it sits on for the full processing time and go from there. you might get away with just coloring it once. hopefully that helps :) by the way, we give away a 'split end trio' every month! these 3 products are the BEST for mending split ends! you can enter at www.nvenn.com/giveaway😘 we just announced last month's winner on our instagram @nvennhairbeauty

Every fill formula is different depending on what your hair looks like and what you want it to look like. Some heads of hair need more than one fill formula as well (if there is any banding in the color). ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html here's a link to our law of color video. Nope. No filler needed
Hi i filled with a red tone and then dyed the level 3 but now i can see the red undertone how can I fix this ?
Color over it with a L3 or L4 Green based ash. Red is a strong pigment, sometimes it might be better to use a copper with a little red in it as the filler rather than a straight red.
How long have you been doing hair for?
Just wondering what color you would use to correct a slight green tone in the hair. And the roots that pulled to gold while maintaining a level 7-8 and wanting it to be cool toned
hi cassondra! that is tricky because every color correction is different. it depends what made it green in the first place and how green it actually is. to truly neutralize green you'd need to use red. that being said, red is a strong color and if you want the end result to be cooler there's a chance that it would show through. instead you can try to fill with a subtle gold and copper in a level 8 then colour it to your desired end level. if you’re desired end level is an 8, then skip the copper, if you’re doing a level 7 fill the hair with a gold copper

I have level 9 roots and level 7-6 ends. I want to go to a level 3. Can you give me any info on how to color fill?
hiiiii yesss I can try to help. are you familiar with the law of color? heres a video if you aren't yet. ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html
how do i put in a red/orange/yelllow filler in my hair? my hair right now is blue/green
You can use colors with copper, gold, and red pigments in it. Be careful with the red pigment. It can show through if there's too much💞
Hi, I have naturally medium brown hair and im asian.
I hear stories about how box dye colors peoples hair black all the time 😅
my hair was dyed red but faded to a browny orange colour, not sure what I should fill with as I want to go black
you'll need some red violet in your fill formula
I was very blonde and didnt see videos about filling my hair first. Ive already died it brown and got the green tone. Do i need to fill over that and do the brown i want or just go ahead with the brown i want? Thanks!
I feel your pain, I did the same thing, figured going darker was no problem, wrong! It's dull muddy with that green tint to it.
@capone horst aw that sucks. Its correctable though. check out my other comment😘
Is it a red filler? Or a dark filler? Im.blonde and wanna do.like a dark brown cherry what shud i do?
hi G! thanks for continuing to tune in to our videos
if my hair is a faded red & i want to dye it jet black what color filler should i used ?
You would need to restore the violet and blue pigment. Here's a video that will explain ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html
@@nvennhairbeauty thank you 💗💗

Is it possible to colour fill brown hair that has faded to the warmer tones? I have been toning my hair but it keeps fading back to the red tones when I want to have level 3 hair that’s more manageable x
ya red is a tough one. it'll always show through eventually unless you strip it out. how often do you color your hair?
nvennhairbeauty once every 3 months now, i was blonde at the start of quarantine and I just went over the blonde with a brown box dye so I obviously didn’t fill in my hair properly, would I have to strip the colour out and then do the filling process? Thanks so much for replying! X
@@izziedwora847 you only need to strip it if it's too dark. It sounds like you want it darker though to cover the red. Is the color saturated when you first wash it out?
nvennhairbeauty yes it is, would it make sense to use reds and purple then go over it with a brown? Or would the colour red still come through? Thanks so much for replying a lot of hairdressers didn’t understand what I was trying to explain to them 🤣 xx
idk if anyone will see this but.... do I need a developer for filing?
Not always but I like to use a developer. Just the lowest one is fine. It binds the color pigments to the hair shaft
Hi, how much did you charge for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
hellloo indigo queen! for someone that doesn't do hair, i am BEYOND impressed with your knowledge of levels. honestly, if i was doing your hair i would skip the "fill color". technically you don't have anything to fill because it isn't process. your hair might take a couple colors to really get the depth and saturation that you want but you can always color it a second time afterwards if it needed it. it just depends. some color lines are more translucent that others so if that's true for the color line you are using, just mix it one to one and make sure that it sits on for the full processing time and go from there. you might get away with just coloring it once. hopefully that helps :)

Blow out kit oil, volume spray, heat protector, then a split end sealer. That's seems like a ton of product.
in most cases it would be. our products completely disappear into the hair though. i layer in replenish, protect, fix or volume, and smooth EVERY TIME i style my hair and it always feels like nothing is in it :) if you wanted to try it, we do product giveaways every month at www.nvenn.com/giveaway
The cheat sheet is just screenshots of the video. Doesnt help. I would have needed something to figure out how to fill my own hair, not just the model's
Every fill formula is different depending on what your hair looks like and what you want it to look like. Some heads of hair need more than one fill formula as well (if there is any banding in the color). ua-cam.com/video/b_gWo4u1mSk/v-deo.html here's a link to our law of color video. Maybe this will help you to formulate it. Id love to help but I would need to see your hair in real life to formulate accurately 💕
Thats a different person
haha what? nooooo for sure its the same person. why do you think it's a different person?
