    I regret 2 things
    1. Listening to other collectors in the toy community about bashing my favorite toy line
    2. Jumping into too many toy lines and not sticking with my favorites

#2 is a principle I adhered to when I started collecting. It was by happenstance that I stumbled across a couple of giant totes of vintage action figures from MOTU to GI Joe to M.U.S.C.L.E. Men to Ghostbusters, and on and on. It was a wide variety of everything, and that's what got me hooked on collecting. I had a desire to keep everything, but it was just too much, so I instead felt MOTU was the most nostalgic for me and I kept those, but I also kept just a representation of everything else and sold the rest. That was 7 years ago and to this day, I own the entire North American run of MOTU and I have just one figure from other toylines that I played with when I was a kid and that's it. I don't understand how anyone can reasonably collect everything. I find no pleasure in cluttering my house nor keeping toys in storage containers.

My only regret collecting was not buying certain items when I had a chance to literally get them dirt cheap. Some of those items I passed up on you can't even find anymore and others go for outrageous amounts of money. Amazing advice in this video for more than just collecting.

Yeah, there are those certain items that just jump up aftermarket.

My biggest regret is not getting things when I saw them on the shelf just because I wasn't sure if I really wanted them. I've learned my lesson though, if I see anything and I even slightly want it I just go ahead and get it cause I can always get rid of it later, and waiting will usually only mean spending more money. The only things I regret getting are the hasbro Fortnight figures. I have almost two dozen and got them all for under $10 each at places like Ollies & Ross. They look cool, and I would really like them, they just won't stand up, at all. Which I hate articulation, but that's a separate rant. And one time a couple of them fell over and broke a figure from another line that I really do like and cost as much as ten of them put together.

My biggest regret is that I did not keep certain figures that I really liked when I sold parts of my collection.

Worst regret: Selling my childhood toys at fleamarkets when i was a teenager.

When I was in between semesters in college, I felt like I was too old to hang onto stuff from my childhood, so I purged just about everything. I had a drawer full of old toys that I just threw away. I also straight up threw away my NES, Gameboy, Virtual Boy, SNES and N64 boxes and manuals. The Xbox and Gamecube had just been released and I figured that's the future of gaming and that no one would want to play those old games anymore. Thankfully, I kept most of the games, but I just felt like the boxes could be thrown. I was a 16 bit RPG fanatic, so I owned the boxes for most of the major SNES RPG's including E.V.O. It's painful to think that those boxes probably ended up as cereal boxes in the recycling plant. Oh, the regrets of life.

I feel what everyone has said, plus in the first year or so of collecting I definitely overpaid on some items. Plus regret not buying more things before this hobby blew up. Such a great collection Dave &LP.

There's always room for mistakes, just so long as we learn from them.

Hey guys, hope you’re doing well. Great video and topic/ conversation starter. For us, we have no buyers remorse on things we have purchased. However, we have buyers regret on things we didn’t purchase. As you mentioned, we always thought there would be a KB toys down the road. Mitch also experienced some temporary insanity when he didn’t buy a Ghost Rider #1 in very nice condition for $25 about 10 years ago. This is going to haunt us until the end of time 😄take care and we will see you soon

I can relate to LPH with spending too much and not waiting for a better deal.

That is frustrating that you lost all the valuable collectibles. Great current collection that you have even so. I think about collectibles, but also remember in the end, we can't take any of it with us. I'll probably donate most of it by then if possible. Hopefully not for awhile though.

I regret driving 2 hours to a convention and when I get disappointed and dont find anything, I "force" myself to buy "something", because why? I cannot possibly drive 2 hours back home and not bring home anything now can I ?

Sometimes it's better to walk away then to buy something you don't want.

I have a very addictive personality unfortunately so when I find a hobby that I enjoy I got head first, all in and can become a bit obsessed. I had to pull back on buying, especially impulsive buys or fomo. I've found when Im really hyped for a new figure I ask myself why do I want this ? Is the price doable or should I wait for a price drop? I use my figures for Stop motion so they have to have certain good articulation, multiple head sculpts, accessories and soft goods is a plus. If I could go back and tell my past self some advice I would say stay away from Marvel Legends/McFarlane/Neca and stick with Mezco, Sh figuarts and 3rd party companies. Yes they are more expensive but I've found not only are you getting what you pay for (most of the time mind you) but also if you ever need to sell a few of your figures for space or funds it's always easier selling a more expensive brand figure opposed to a cheaper one ( imo) I know Alot of collectors will say I don't have the money for expensive figures but I would just say save up for a better figure you'll get more out of it then settling for the cheaper option and not being as happy with your collection. This is what I've found has worked for me personally, I understand everyone collects differently. Take care

Sellers remorse. I only buy what i like so the times i've sold items to bankroll a big purchase i always end up rebuying and paying more than the cost of the original item. A vicious circle. I now borrow money for must have items or do payment plans on sideshow. I'm done selling.
