waverex and m1ram enable modern expansion of the PCM sounds and Programs to use them, respectively. waverex is a writable pcm card and m1ram is program memory card that doesn't require a battery. no affiliation, referral or incentive. I bought both these myself.

@@popcycles No: not new presets. Actual user-defined PCM sound samples. waverex is essentially a writeable PCM card, it contains flash memory, a microcontroller and a USB port to connect it to a PC or Mac to download your samples from. Once downloaded, the card can be used standalone with the M1 like any other PCM card.
Seperately, m1ram is a writeable program card, for patches. These have always been available for the M1, where the small records - programs, or patches can be stored on the card. they contain parameters to control how the PCM sounds (oscillators) are played, not the PCM samples themselves. But where m1ram is different is that it is modern flash based - it does not require an internal battery like the original writable program cards did.
Although separate independent projects, m1ram is a great compliment to waverex, because one can store program files on m1ram specifically set up to use one's own PCM samples on the waverex, without altering the original factory internal patch/progam files.
