I have yellow nutsedge and Sedgehammer has worked over the past 5+ years. Some pops up every year but I'm on the lookout and spray ASAP. Just had 11" rain in 11 days and had an extraordinary outbreak of yellow nutsedge. I'm out there spraying and getting control again. Sighs...
So well done, thank you. Having grown up in the '70s I do have some experience with quite of few of these wonderful trips of the mind. Would love to once again to go there before my days are gone.
Ironically, the most difficult weed I deal with in turf up north is Bermuda grass. She's a beast. Its even one of my most difficult weeds in non crop areas. Glyphosate doesn't consistently work anymore. Alfalfa is another plant (legume) that is very difficult. Where I'm from used to be mostly farm land, now its mostly developed into residential. Alfalfa pops up everywhere. Fluroxopyr brings her to her knees tho no problem. Cool video!
@@gregoryclark2674 Acclaim may be a good option. Prodiamine however will do nothing. Group 3 herbicides are generally targeting annuals. Bermuda is a perennial grass type and does not exclusively spread by seed.
I have had great success spraying twice, four weeks apart ,a month before the end of the growing season. The roots are weakened for the winter instead of regenerating over the winter. I only use sulfosulfuron with a surfactant..
Southern California checking in...... Not sure if it's St. Augustine or centipede grass in my bermuda lawn. Tips on getting rid of either one? My soil ph is a little high at around 7.2. Trying to get the soil more acidic.
What do you think of Mesotrione(Tenacity), Triclopyr, 2,4-D, Dicamba, & Sulfentrazone(T-Zone SE), and Ethofumesate(Prograss)? Also, what do you recommend to control English Ivy and Virginia Creeper? Thanks!!
East Tenn here.... and Im having Great luck with clearing everything in turf grass.... except ..... Creeping Charlie... I have used Blindside.. and it seems to help.... any better Ideas..????
I seeded my yard with Monaco Bermuda a little over a month ago. Its filling in nice but I'm getting a lot of nutsedge. Is it still too early to treat with sledgehammer?
I’ve been having issues for years with Field Bindweed in my yard. What’s the best practice/herbicide for this weed? I’ve been told to use Celsius but I’m not seeing that weed labeled for control with that herbicide. I don’t want to use glyphosate to be honest.
Yes, sedges are a pain in the a$$ for everybody but, I'd have to say, for us cool season folks, dallisgrass and it's evil twin bahiagrass seem to give sedges a run for its money. I'm well aware that some people actually plant bahiagrass and cultivate it for their lawn. The best I can tell is the only product that you showcased that could be used in cool season lawns is Surge.
The worst weed is that one whose name escapes me. I want to call it Virginia creeper, but that’s not it. Gosh. This is killing me. Help me out. It’s low growing, spreads like crazy, is super invasive, and makes little white flowers. Not clover.
The other plants are native Americans and the grass is actually the weeds. Given a chance with NO investment in time , equipment or chemicals the native plants will eliminate the weeds and you'll never need to worry about looking like a high falutin' 18th century English Earl again. 😃

It's crazy how that stuff grows when it rains
Have not started your weed control program yet. Looking forward to adding that service next year.
It's been good for my business
Great program, now dealing with rye grass on newly built homes.

We have a lot of Globe Sedge here in SWFL, a combo of Halosulfuron-methyl and Celsius, does a good job of wiping it out.
Another great instructional video! Thank. I’m in north Al and I find all your videos very helpful.
Glad to help

Bermuda is tough to kill
I'm in Oklahoma with poor soil and a Bermuda lawn. I spend my time nurturing it, haha.
My west michigan lawn got poisoned by bermuda too. Trying Acclaim, Prodimine. Seriously considering 30K sq ft of clover.

Gly resistant Bermuda would be good down South
Excellent information! Problem is my neighbors do not try to eliminate their nutsedge...what to do with that?????

I like that strategy
30 minutes a week? I only get 1/4 inch at 30 minutes. lol. Guess it depends on sprinklers and water pressure. Great video! Thanks!

I live in a low area, i fight nutsedge every year. It definitely can develop a resistance to herbicides. Use the right stuff people.
My yard sits a little low also and catches a lot of water in the winter
Thanks for the coverage!
No problem
Great video as always !! What is your recommendation for us cool season grass for blanket coverage over an acre were sedge is sprinkled all about?
My guess would be prosedge if mostly yellow and purple....or dismiss if mostly yellow and kyllinga. Those would be two of the cheaper options

Changeup works well on creeping charlie.

Big fan of sulfentrazone
Me too. I've been using it more. Especially on my yard where I don't care if it discolors the grass a little
@lawncarelife Its amazing how little of it you need to get a quick burn down.
Can you mix sedgehammer and Celsius together?
From illinois and we used a product Q4 with Ai of quencolaric on nutsedge
I don't believe nutsedge on the label of Q4
I have torpedo grass coming up through tiftuf bermuda, everywhere!.. Please help.
Torpedo grass is terrible. I don't have a solution for it. Quinclorac multiple times does discolor it but I don't think it will kill it
Solitare....it's quinclorac and sulfentrazone. Hit it once every 14 days.

Thank you for watching
Great one JC ! ❤’d it
Thank you
My goto product so far has been image herbicide.
Love it 🔥👍🏿🇺🇸

You never mention CHANGE UP for your herbicide, you din’t use it no more?
I use it a lot.. just not for sedges
I thought Virginia Buttonweed. It’s a pain to keep gone.
That one is terrible also
Smart man!
That opinion will greatly vary depending on who you ask
Jason, what does your wife have to say about this topic?
How did the comments morph into yard weeds? Boy I missed a lot during my adult working years.
Jason you are so awesome and I really appreciate you. Thank you so much. 👍👍👍👌👏👏👏
I appreciate the encouragement

Nailed it.
Thanks!

Spurge already trying to pop up 😢
I have seen a little also
Poa triv is 100x worse for cool season lawns
Dallas grass is way worse
