I’ve listened to Demi’s orig song and - no hate here - but Morissette’s version is cleaner. Demi’s high notes sound a strained especially when she sang this live. Morissette delivered it perfectly while sitting down.

Her squeal you're mentioning is controlled and done on purpose, it just doesn't happen.
Benjamin Encinas Yea I figured it was either or... that’s why I said if it was done on purpose that’s great, but I do know a good majority of singers that can’t control it and it’s just part of their voice when they strain a bit when switch pitches or belting out notes. Either way she does it flawlessly 🤷🏽♂️
