One important thing to note about mining is efficiency: - All rock crushing has the same efficiency (20-to-5) - Ore crushing efficiency depends on the machine - arrastra < stamp mill < jaw crusher - Ore concentrating depends on the machine and module. Froth without upgrades is about as efficient as rocker box with BU5 AFAIR. Shakes with AU5 is on par with Froth / Belt Sorter MU2 or something like that, so you might not want to switch iron production straight away. Belt Sorter is identical to Froth for the ratios so you almost never build it. - Could also cover tailing disposal since that's sort of a part of mining - Could also cover that crushing ore means it gets lighter, so it's easier to transport. Best way to get started making money with mining - mine, crush, sell. Concentrating can get you some more money, but then you also have to deal with efficiency and tailings, so it might not be ideal. - Sand production is also important as a byproduct of mining some ores. You do it pretty much through the entire game since you use Sand in Glass and Mortar forever. - Moving ores trick can also be useful to know - put a stockpile down under, then hop the ore up to a stockpile above - You can also mention which other professions mining works with - masonry, glassworking, pottery, smelting, etc. - Other important resources for mining is Limestone (for Cement and Quicklime), Coal (for Steel and general power), Shale (bricks)
Finding iron is pretty easy, go out to the desert and dig down about twenty to thirty blocks in random spots. Once you've found iron, you can make the drill, which makes finding gold and copper just a little easier. They can both be extremely hard to find though.
Hello, your video is very helpful to me, but I still have a few questions to ask. We made a blast furnace, but we don't know how to deal with the waste water, which seems to pollute the river. We made a waste filter, but one of the conditions of this machine is that only the owner can play its function. We don't know how to make the waste filter work, thank you!
The waste filter has to be powered by electricity, which requires one of the following machines: Steam Engine, Combustion Generator, Solar Generator or Wind Turbine. Having one of those functioning within a ten block radius should allow the water filter to function, provided that the output pipe from the blast furnace is connected to the input on the waste filter via pipes of some kind.
@@Raptor_X Thank you, but one of the machine conditions of waste filter is that only the owner can play its function. Only this condition makes us very confused. We can't meet it and make it run
Is it on owned land, and if so, have the owner turn it on. Otherwise, claim the land that it is on, which will give it an owner, and whoever claims it will be able to turn it on.
So, there is no resource reduction for any of the crushing machines, all of the crush recipes are locked to whatever they start out as. However, the arrastra requires 6 pieces of iron ore, the stamp mill requires 5, and the jaw crusher only 4.
You know, I am a little confused about something: the Eco game wikis said that iron can also be found in the grasslands, yet one of the wikis say that the developers took that out. I'm asking this because I'm playing on a server where players are already hogging all the desert areas, hence there's nowhere to really go to get iron unless they sell it in their shops. So can a person find iron ore in the grasslands?
I´m very new to Eco. I don´t understand why you need physical work, when you use machines. I mean is it not the main purpose of a machine not to use human labor (or much less)?
Yeah, I've never quite understood that myself. There would still be some labor involved in loading and unloading, and using the machines, but the amount of labor does se a bit high.
Iron is pretty easy to find. Walk out to the desert, dig down about 26-30 blocks and you should hit it, if not, dig around a little down at that depth, you should find it without much difficulty.
@@Raptor_X thank you, but we figured it out about an Hour ago. I was drilling like two hours in grassland. As far as i know there is also iron(?) Another problem: we play with a few friends and we play in one spot. The desert is on the other side of the world behind an ocean.. xD
Please make a video on ground pollution handling. I heard in 9.0 you can now put tailings above ground without spreading so much ground pollution by making a wall of clay.. I don't if it works.
I don't believe this is the case yet, this is a future implementation that they are looking at, but I don't believe it is in the game yet. Tailings have to be burried below ground, with at least ten blocks of natural stone above them before they reduce the pollution. I'll be doing a video on setting up mining, and pollution mitigation and the rest of mining in the next video.
HI RAPTOR X, I LOVE YOUR ECO VIDEOS. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR JUST A FEW MONTHS, AND I AM THE FARMER, GATHER, AND CHEF. HOWEVER, I STARTED DOING SOME MINING AND ENJOY IT. THE PROBLEM IS HAVE MADE A MESS OUT OF THE MINES. I CAN'T FIND A "TRUE BEGINNER" MINE VIDEO ANYWHERE. WOULD YOU MIND MAKING A "SLOW PACED BEGINNER MAKING MINE VIDEO", AND HOW ALSO HOW YOU GET THE RAMPS IN THE MINE ECT...? I AM SURE THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE OUT THERE BESIDES ME THAT NEEDS TO KNOW HOW TO DIG OUT A MINE IN A MOUNTAIN OR MOUND OF SOME KIND. SORRY ABOUT CAPS I AM VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND IT IS EASIER FOR ME TO SEE. I AM NOT YELLING AT YOU. IN FACT, I AM THANKING YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS. I REALLY ENJOY THE SLOW PACED ECO. TO LEARN THE GAME, WE DON'T DO LAW, GOVERNMENT, OR MONEY. WE BARTER EVERYTHING AND IT'S SO MUCH FUN AND EASIER PACED FOR US RIGHT NOW. ALSO, WE SEE THE METEOR BUT, WE KEEP MOVING IT BACK. SOMEDAY WE MIGHT TRY TO BUILD THE LASER BUT, NOT RIGHT NOW.. BE SAFE AND STAY HEALTHY...
That's one way. Using the iron rock drill is another. Copper is a bit harder to find, but the good news is, once you've found it, gold is generally close by. Drilling into the side of a granite mountain in the cold biomes is one of the better ways. I found it quite easily on the Leaving on a Jet plane server.
I realize that there are more mining upgrades. They go from Basic to Advanced to Modern, and range from 1 to 4, and then there is a specialized upgrade specifically for mining.

All good points. I'll be doing a few more videos on mining, and try to cover all of those points.
Very interesting. I had no idea that mining was so involved. Thanks for the video.
You didn't actually describe how to locate ore without the drill.
Finding iron is pretty easy, go out to the desert and dig down about twenty to thirty blocks in random spots. Once you've found iron, you can make the drill, which makes finding gold and copper just a little easier. They can both be extremely hard to find though.
Thx! Good job
You're welcome. Glad people are still finding this useful.

So no resource decrease cost for arrastra but yes for stamp mill?

cant find copper to save my life... videos hasent helped so far but glad to see some info out on this game. thay changed alot in 9.0
Yeah they definitely have. Have you checked out my mining in 9.0 videos, specifically the ones on ore and where to find them?
@@Raptor_X yes and the different lvls. are u still making eco videos?
Yep, three a week. Tuesday through Thursday.

Yes, although it appears it's pretty deep in the ground there. 50-60 blocks down.
then u should not be getting iron just buy if u need it and find something that the smiths want so they can buy that of u that is how the game works

@@Raptor_X On the other hand are all machines more or less automatic. You give the order's and can go to the other side of the planet.
Yes, all of them are. There are some trade-offs between realism and playability, as with all games. This is one of them.
Hi who i can find shale?
Shale is found in the rainforest biome predominantly
@@Raptor_X Thanks
