Im still waiting on The Hitcher, Strange Days, Panic Room, True Lies,, the 13th Warrior and The Abyss to get that Criterion/Arrow/Shout Factory love one day.
The Hitcher is coming out on 4K in the UK from Second Sight. Hopefully it will be released this year. A big YES to True Lies and The Abyss… it is all down to James Cameron dithering about signing off on them.
@@LennyNero2019 Ha don’t tell me. Cameron doesn’t want to sign off on his most underrated and possibly last enjoyable film because he’s knee deep in Pandorian compost.
First heard of Johnny Got His Gun in the late 80's- Metallica built the video for their song "One" around footage from the movie. This was the first video they did and was met with controversy. At the time it was viewed as "selling out" if you were a heavy metal artist with videos on MTV
I'm in a similar spot with movies. Most of the new stuff is pretty formulaic. I'm trying to experience some of the older Classics that I never got to experience growing up to see where we've come from. Now is better than ever since we have a lot of them coming to 4K and I now have a decent setup at home to experience them.
Star Trek - The Motion Picture (Director's Edition) on Paramount Plus I waited years for...I can't WAIT to own it on 4K DVD this fall!!! :D. I will try to see it in a cinema on May 25th, but I seen the original version in a cinema in December 1979....
I got steel book collectors blu-ray for Hunder Games from half price books for $2/movie. Lots of extras. I also got a huge collection of BR disks from my employer that was "lost and found" left behind from someone who left. Tons of Disney and Logan "noir" edition? Haven't watched t yet
@11:43 I saw that film only once in the theatre when it first came out, and a few days ago I failed to remember the name of the movie since its been 20 years! Thanks! LOL
The Friends of Eddie Coyle is one of my favorite movies. 70s crime movies always have such character to them and they’ll probably always be on top in my mind in terms of my favorite crime sub genre. Heck my fav modern crime movies are the ones that emulate those films like Killing Them Softly.
Thank you for the heads up on the latest blurays, you mention that the hunter with Steve McQueen is coming to bluray can you tell me if it has any behind the scenes making of the film I heard he was hurting making this last film ! Thanks
I picked up the Arrow release of the Italian movie “Cinema Paradiso” from my local library. It has some funny scenes and some pretty depressing scenes as well. I recommend it, if you haven’t seen it yet.
I can't wait to get In The Heat Of The Night starring Sidney Poitier in 4K UHD! That Hunger Games set looks beautiful even though i'm not a huge Hunger games fan, still a wonderful set. I just recently got Back to The Future trilogy on 4K, big surprise it had a Blue case and not the standard black 4K case. Thought that was a bit wierd.
The Hunger Games set is absolutely amazing. There’s a video going over how they did the art and I highly recommend checking out that video (searchable).

Hey Jeff, have you heard any word that the Paramount Presents line will be released onto 4K? Several of those movies, especially Nashville and Ordinary People, will be improved with some HDR.
A great movie with Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck is Cape Fear (1962). This was remade in 1992 and directed by Martin Scorcese. Ordinary People won the best picture in 1980 but I think Raging Bull should have taken the best picture.
Hi Jeff... I see you have a LOT of work to do; films to watch and review. However, you did mention Robert Mitchum, whom is one of my favorites. Have you seen "River of No Return?" Marilyn Monroe co-stars, and this film is also my favorite for her, as an actress... she is amazing in this one. Mitchum, through circumstances, is forced to escape rampaging Indians via a raft on "River of No Return;" as named by the Indians for the deadly river rapids Mitchum must navigate his raft through. For my money, much better movie than "The River Wild." Mitchum also sings the title song "River of No Return " over the credits, and he's awesome. The only time I've ever heard him sing... and Mitchum refused to make the movie unless he got to sing the song. Please check this movie out, as I would like to hear your thoughts on the film!
Not super into the Hunger Games movies but the packaging on that 4K set is incredible! Some really great picks here, I recently grabbed Vigilante on 4K, very excited to watch it. Really looking forward to the Rogue Cops and Racketeers set from Arrow, the Years of Lead set was great. I just grabbed a bunch of films from Kino's spring sale including Hard Target, Eastern Promises and The Great Escape all in 4K. Grabbed some 2K releases too, including a couple Belmondo films, Stunt Squad (another Poliziotteschi flick) and Wanted: Dead or Alive with Rutger Hauer. I'm a sucker for Kino's catalog releases and I love how the spines on the cases all look the same (slipcovers notwithstanding). Great video Jeff, love to see the collection updates!!!!
