Kind of makes sense don't know for sure personally but I have heard make your background dark behind the charger it'll find it a lot better versus the whitewall
I saw this for $300AUD and thought it'd be hilarious to have patrol outside the house as a joke, or to play with my cats but damn what a useless POS. I found that most of these "smart" devices are duller than a spoon. My "smart" vacuum can barely locate its charging dock. My next project is to understand how all this lidar and radar technology works and to make my own damn actual smart robot.
Excellent job explaining all the idiosyncrasies. Thank you! Liked & subscribed. Looking for something to do automated home surveillance and local recording. How has your experience with this been?
Glad you liked the video! Truthfully, I haven't really gotten into much home surveillance yet so I don't have much information or experience to offer on that front yet. Maybe in time.
Last week, I had a false alarm on my home security system while I was out. This is the first alarm that I’ve ever had in 15 years. An item fell off the shelf, hit the floor and made a sound frequency that set off the glass breakage sensor. That got me to thinking about what would happen if the alarm went off while we’re home. Clearing a house on one’s own is pretty tough, potentially dangerous if someone does break in. Thus, the current plan is to hole up in a safe room until the police arrive. The concept of a roving camera has some appeal. Send a disposable camera out to send back video of an area in alarm. If it is an intruder, stay in the safe room until the police arrive. If something inadvertently tripped the alarm, then call off the police. On the other hand, I’ve never experienced an intrusion, the community in general and neighborhood in particular are pretty safe. This roving camera idea is probably more of a toy than a useful tool.
This sounds so much like Anki, but at least they don't claim surveillance as this is advertised, you saved me purchasing it I think Anki can do q bit more though 💯
Sooooo, not for a dummy like me… I just want a toy for adults that has a camera on it that will go just about anywhere, besides my drone. You know, something you can pursue animals with on the ground, bugs, wildlife, pets. I have overhead covered and follow larger wildlife with the drone but, would like to have something on the ground as well… ✌️😎
Yup, it pretty much is. It's also worth noting that it fails at high pile carpet as well. So, if you specifically have relatively thin carpets and no other flooring, maybe this will handle your space a bit better.
Anyone with a solution? -> I know there's motion detection. I know there's a cloud server (4$/month) to let you know about motion with push notification on your mobile. But if (!) I don't have the monthly 4$ sub - do I miss out this feature? All I want is a locally saved picture/file if Scout detects any motion. Nothing more. Just a motion detection that I can check the next day. No subscription no nothing. No live feature. Is that possible?
I got it during the kickstarter, and it has been pretty ... meh. Very little work is being done to the firmware to improve it. It had such promise. Oh well.
I have one also and can confirm it's pretty shoddy patrol pathing and outside of any firmware update (not very frequent at all) I would say that the best thing that can be done to make it somewhat viable is to go with the tracks, an option for it, with the tracks it should eliminate the drifting and imprecise movement of the macan wheels.
After watching your review for 5 minutes you make me hate this robot it's a good little item but why do you review item is so much negativity I don't think you should do anymore reviews you practically destroy the product every single word is a negative word horrible review
It seems, Just stick one of those wireless security camera on top of a robot vacuum and that should do a better job.
Was considering this to monitor inside our home while on vacations. Thanks for the review, saved me some money and frustration. 😎
It's actually very good I'm using to check all house
It ain't that bad. I combined it with blink set up. Just look for big sales. ✌️
Thanks for saving me $160! This video is worth it just for your cat’s reaction. 😂😂
What a great looking cat!
Appreciate the heads up… HomeDepot on the sight makes it look almost Tonka Truck size… $299…. They almost got me homie. Thank you.
Kind of makes sense don't know for sure personally but I have heard make your background dark behind the charger it'll find it a lot better versus the whitewall
Try the track wheels instead! They are an accessory item, like $29.
Thank you for helping me to decide against buying one.
Why they don't simply put a camera on cleaning robots it will make life really easier
Thank you. I would like this but it needs to be better. Maybe they can improve it and have a 2.0

I am so glad for this review, it changed my mind to a HUGE no for me...thanks!
So, its no item anyone can use properly? Thank you for the review.

I was gona buy one but now it change my mind. I think this would be a good tool for those GHOST HUNTERS.
Why is this the only manufacturer involved in this market? The only other was the Appbot Riley, but that company went under.
It needs a sort of chute to guide it into the dock.
damn it man. i was looking into getting one. THANKS.
Does this robot go to auto docking station if connection with the application cuts while I'm away controlling?
I certainly didn't see that behavior when testing it. Generally it just stops where it is unless it's on a scheduled path.
@@ExplainYouaThing thanks 👍
its slipping on the tiles thats why your having these problems damn

I almost bought it until I saw this video. It's not even worth the frustration getting it to work, period.

Did you come up with an alternative solution for home surveillance?
Haven't really yet. I'm not all that concerned about it in general, but I figured I'd give it a go since it was offered to me.

I like watching reviews but when I can tell it’s a bad review from the start I don’t even bother but thank you I guess
cool Cat
From all indications, you hate it.

I 3d printed the tracks thinking they would help. It’s actually considerably worse
if you have no idea how to deal with technology, please dont expect people that can to listen to your beta review.
Bro it's a pos
