@@DavidHeathHomebrew , I wonder if it's worth reaching out to Thomas Gangsøy for some sort of collaboration? In theory, the data in your survey could all be extracted from Brewfather’s database (which would also have a bigger sample size) from the actual batches people have brewed. You could then see trend data over time split into different categories. For example:
      Brewing frequency:
      - Do people brew more during certain times of year (e.g. lead up to Christmas)?
      - Are some countries more avid brewers than others?
      Brew styles:
      - Are different brew styles trending one way or the other? E.g. Is the popularity of IPAs declining, or is it fairly constant
      - For hoppy beers: What hops and hop combinations are most popular? How has this changed over time?
      - For malt-forward beers: What malts and malt combinations are most popular?
      Brewing equipment:
      - Most popular systems
      - System usage trends over time - e.g. is there a spike in a given system’s usage around a new product release?
This sort of data could be helpful for local home brew stores (e.g. helping them decide what to stock), as well as home brewers (e.g. referencing popular hop or malt combinations as a starting point for a recipe). Also super interesting for the community in general :)

My fermentation answer changed during this process.
I took advantage of the sale and bought the 14 gallon Brew built X2 jacketed just before the X3 came out.
My first beer was David's Czech Pilsner. Nailed all the numbers and drinking it right now, outstanding! I'm using Anvil 10.5, right now. I live very rural in Colorado. Being rural, I don't want the Internet to screw up my brewing, that's why I brought the Anvil foundry. Looking to upgrade to the 18 gallon Anvil soon.

Also would suggest "what are your top three styles", "what new style (for you) do you intend to brew in the ear future", and "what is your next big (money wise) brew equipment investment in the next year (brand, model)"

Great video as always David! I liked the transparency but maybe other survey forms would be less consuming from your end?
As for suggestions/feedback, maybe show the data in various graphs? How many voted, of which how many voted IPA and so on..
Additional questions I could think of: what kind of thermal regulation used for fermentation? Also, how home brewers use (digital) gravity readings during and after fermentation? Such as the Rapt Pill or Tilt, or a refractometer.
Just my 2 cents, keep up the great work!

Hey David, thanks for taking the time to collate all the info and turn into succinct results! One idea for future results could be to show trends/changes from previous results. One additional question I would be interested in is how people control fermentation temps, if at all? Maybe another if people alternatively use pressure fermentation and or specific yeast variety with no temp control with success.

I find the beer style result interesting. I got into home brewing because it’s almost impossible for me to buy a European style lager or English style-in fact anything with a malt forward profile. It would be interesting to know why people homebrew (or maybe why they started). For me it was a lack of variety in my local market, but for many it would seem that’s probably not the case?

Agree. For content creators and/or retailers I think it would be invaluable to know the underlying motivations/drivers for people and their hobby. I suspect there’d be a few common “brewer profiles” that would have different needs to one another. Maybe one for next year’s survey. Great work as usual, David. Not so surprised myself. Home brewing and much of davids following (which im assuming is the sample group) is geared towards the budget friendly options. Now if there was a QUALITY Equipment survey kegland would most certainly be at the bottom of that list. Grainfather would likely be somewhere in the middle and Brewtools, Spike and Ss at the top end. All the mass produced plastic stuff is at the top of these lists cause its the most accessible. (Probably) There is only one homebrew equipment manufacturer that offers a FIVE year warranty. That speaks volumes for me.
