    28.08.2016, Otepää
Gold for Mäkäräinen and Gerbulova in Women’s Pursuits
    Satisfied with Shooting
Kaisa Mäkäräinen of Finland confidently won the women's pursuit with only one penalty in 30:40.3, while Natalia Gerbulova of Russia the junior women's pursuit with three penalties in 27:49.2.
    2:10 Margin
Behind Mäkäräinen's dominating performance, the Silver medal went to the sprint champion Olena Pidhrushna of Ukraine with 4 penalties, 2:10.0 back. Anna Frolina of Korea despite six penalties took the Bronze medal, 2:29.5 back.
Polish Magdalena Gwizdon was fourth, 2:42.8, her teammate Monika Hojnisz finished fifth, 2:44.3, sixth went to Alina Raikova of Kazakhstan, who made a great comeback from 26th position at start.
    Crucial Win
Mäkäräinen made it up for yesterday's fourth place in sprint with four penalties, by crushing the field in winning today's competition. She made only one mistake, a first prone penalty, leaving 1.5 seconds after Pidhrushna. By the next split Mäkäräinen overcame the Ukrainian and until the finish line she was increasing the gap from the rivals. Pidhrushna was just fourth after the second prone with three penalties, but due to good shooting in the standing stages, just one penalty, she scored another podium, completing asset of Gold, Silver and Bronze. Frolina with five penalties after the first two stages was in fourth, but then with just one miss at the standing, she moved to the third, bringing one more SWCH medal to her new team.
    Satisfied
Mäkäräinen, who is in the process of building a new home, was glad not only about the win, "I am really satisfied with my shooting today and happy that I managed to miss just once. Now I'm in a hurry to go back home!"
    Gold Medal for Russia
Gerbulova's medal was the first Gold for her team at these Championships. Poland's Kinga Mitoraj matched her result in sprint, winning Silver with 7 penalties, 1:55.2 back. The Bronze medal went to yesterday's winner Anastasiya Merkushyna of Ukraine with six penalties, 2:08.4 behind.
    Same Names, Different Order
This clear, but windy day was again full of penalties. Starting 3 seconds behind Merkushyna, Mitoraj led into the first prone. While the Ukrainian was at three penalty loops, the Polish and Russian, with 1 mistake, left on the first and second with the difference in 29 seconds. After the second prone, where both athletes shot clean, the gap between them was cut to 20 seconds. The third stage became decisive in the distribution of Gold and Silver; Mitoraj missed three times, while Gerbulova had a single penalty and securely left in first with 41.5 seconds advantage. After the final shooting, where she added one more penalty, fast Russian increased the gap from Mitoraj up to almost two minutes. That allowed her to cross the finish line with a flag, bringing the Russian team the first Gold of the Championships. At the last stage Mitoraj missed three more times, but still stayed in second place, while Merkushyna shot clean and left the stadium in third. They finished in the same order, making the podium the same as yesterday, but in different order.
    First Gold
Gerbulova admitted that the wind was not as strong as it was yesterday, "It was much easier today at the range. I am satisfied with my shooting and with the win because it is my first Gold medal at the international starts."
