I think a new surface is long overdue. The combination of the short runway length, high altitude, concave shape and a constant crosswind makes it an exciting airport to fly into! The terminal expansion is also coming along quite nicely.

No way will i fly with Ryanair again, 6am flight to be told a cabin bag wont fit in the overhead, without a word from me she states it wont fit you have to pay £60, yeah rite

LBA is now the only major uk airport with a concrete runway, slabs. Its actually due to have a full runway resurface soon.

I think they were the runway inspectors. They certainly got a great view of the departures!
