      What "real dark side fun" are you referring to? I went into the show blind, knowing nothing except "It's a Jedi-centered Star Wars story set 100 years in the past". I had no particular expectations and so far I'm entertained …

    I have had to defend the Amazon Fallout show from bad faith arguments many times. I don't think that's the case here though in fact most of these people seem like fans to me. I wouldn't know I'm more of a LOTR guy and I know much more about that than Star Wars and I don't know much at all about it personally and rings of power was very disrespectful to the source material of Tolkein. Makes sense you make fans angry for being disrespectful to what they loved the ratings are bad for a reason. I'm glad you enjoy it and I'm glad some people enjoy rings of power. Doesn't invalidate what the other side thinks though it's just 2 opposing opinions at the end of the day nothing more and nothing less.

    O.k. so in regards to Jedi taking children, that is explain in GREAT detail that they procure only young children that haven't formed attachments to things like family, friends, etc. That aspect is actually part of their belief system and their is no malintent. They believe attachments are a weakness and the greatest source of a Jedi's downfall away from their teachings. Now I think the Jedi became this is example of what not to do instead of being the moral compass they started out as.

    • @BluntyTV
      @BluntyTV  6 днів тому +2

      Yyyeeeessss… they want them young, before they’re “attached” to other people, and belief systems…. so they can CREATE an attachment to the teachings and beliefs of THE JEDI. dude, c’mon…. It is CREEPY and you know it.

      @@BluntyTV LOL I mean sure. For the record I think the Jedi were portrayed as monumentally naive but I was simply pointing it out in the context of the SW universe that there was a precedent for that type of behavior. I'm not condoning it. I was born in '77 so I, like you, grew up with Star Wars. Luke was always an ideal and something to aspire to in that he was representing the protective side of the Jedi and not the creepy/jaded side. That came later. I also blame poor writing on behalf of the prequel era Jedi. I mean in '99 I'm sitting in the theater mentally screaming at the screen because if there are thousands of Jedi and two known Sith, the only way to balance it is either thousands of Sith or two Jedi...seriously?!?...lol.
      In the context of Acolyte, I'm just not liking it because of the bad acting, plot holes and pacing issues. BUT I in no way wish the actors or anyone disagreeing with me any malice or harm. Not everything in any given subject is for everyone. This is a case in point of that fact.

    Agreed that you'll have people jumping on the band wagon in bad faith... but you have to admit, this show is a steaming heap. Regardless of lore or differing opinions on how the Jedi should be represented, without the Star Wars banner, this would be bargain bin vewing at best. The name Star Wars deserves better. Better writing, better quality, and better acting.
    Feels like the production crew loved themselves and their ideas more than they loved the source material... and it shows

      " but you have to admit, this show is a steaming heap." No, I don't... it's not my fave of the newest crop of Star Wars, and I think the pacing needed a lot more work, but I am enjoying the concepts it's exploring, and I very much like a couple of the Characters. It's also shot quite nicely, just on a technical, aesthetic note.

    I will never not call it anything except Twitter. On Apple, I had to make a shortcut so it would open the app so I didn’t even have to say the name. Elon Musk wants me to call it. I don’t or it’s Kathleen who is to blame but I’m leaning more towards Kathleen Kennedy because when you look at the Mandalorian, she did not do anything with it. It was John feather who had control of that show.

    Thank you! I've been saying this. This is set during the age of the High Republic. The Jedi were the biggest power, but were out of touch with the rest. They made mistakes that led to their downfall. So whenever I hear "Why did they make the Jedi look like they're the bad guys?" My response is always, "Because that's exactly what they were."
    Now, this isn't my favorite show. But it is interesting, once you look past it's flaws. It's not going to "save Star Wars", and that's fine. I don't need to it to be saved. Star Wars is just fine. I just need something new and refreshing to put some time and distance between now and the cluster f*ck of the Sequel Trilogy.

  • @StoneCresent
    @StoneCresent 6 днів тому

    My biggest issues with Disney's Star Wars are a meandering sequel trilogy, the sidelining of the original expanded universe, a lack of content that captures my interest, and burnout from the rate of new stuff coming out. Major Star Wars releases used to be an event but now major stuff comes more than twice a year. At this rate, I'm going to start skipping stuff I'm not interested in or have time for.

    Glad you're enjoying The Acolyte. Personally, it's not enjoyable to me and it has nothing to do with politics, diversity, pronouns, sexual orientation, fat Jedis, etc.. It's poorly written, horribly acted, and just flat out boring. I don't find anything about the show to get excited about. Before this series came along I thought the Book of Boba Fett was the worst thing Disney has done but this series may just top that. It's fine tho - not every show is going to appeal to everyone and people can like or dislike it for whatever reason but just because I love Star Wars doesn't mean I'm going to force myself to consume and love everything Disney creates but you do you man.

    The only thing I will never forgive Disney for regarding Star Wars is their cowardly retconning for "Fan Appeal" in Rise Of The Skywalker... Took every single interesting thing the other two sequels had going and totally nullified them...
    Really left a sour taste on the entire Franchise and ruined the Sequels altogether, for me...
    The rest of it has ranged from super interesting, fresh and fun, to just Ok.
    Oh well, and Andor was WILD in how astonishingly good it was.

    The show isn’t great but it isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be. Their are some writing issues and the sudden cut at the end of this weeks episode really pissed me off but this show is not deserving of the hate it’s getting. What I truly believe is happening here is that because this is a female and minority heavy show theirs a lot of fans who have issues with that (I have no idea why the show takes place in a universe full of all types of aliens, droids, creatures etc) and they decided to hate the show before a single frame of footage was shot let alone shown and they make hate bate (great term btw) videos about it.
    I agree with them on some things like I do think Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t fully get Star Wars and she’s the wrong match to run lucasfilm but that’s not because she’s a woman. She doesn’t seem like she fully understands the brand. It’s not a personal thing. That said I’m not also going to hate everything made under her watch. I’m going to judge it fairly and honestly. Most fans don’t want to do that. Most fans want to rally behind hate and anger and feel emboldened and self righteous.
    At the end of the day it’s just a show set in a universe with space wizards and aliens and robots. You get some good episode and movie and some not so good ones just like any other major franchise.
    I just try to take it as a per episode/movie base.

    I think somebody also brought up that the creator of the Andor series changed some details about his background as well although they did actually work it together where the original planet he came from was just a hidden fact (for those that don't remember he was found as a kid but the lady who found him basically just faked the information that he was found somewhere else!)
    It's just one of those things that people don't seem to bring up although I do remember one fan in particular bringing up the stuff about Andor and was quickly hushed away.
    Sadly I've been seeing nothing but a very disrespectful and sometimes an outright racist responses to these episodes and I'm doing my best to report them but that's almost losing battle.
