The white Pixel 4 is easily my favorite looking phone (from the rear) of all time, just above the Panda Pixel 2 XL. That matte white just looks so clean! Great vid as always.
Still using mine. The battery improved after the first week, and by the second month became equivalent to my other flagships (about 5 hrs on-screen time). It's scheduled for Android updates through Oct 2022. It takes better photos than my new Samsung S21. I plan to get a few more years use out of it.
Totally agree with you! My pixel 3a takes way better pics than my new S21. Especially when I try to take pics of my kids on the move. S21 pics come out blurry.
That's the thing people don't understand about pixels, you can't review them by using them for a month, let alone a week lol Google is maybe the leading company in AI & machine learning, let the phone get to know you and ovetime it will optimize for the user experience, that's why Pixels are superior in my view bc its about the user experience, not the hardware & specs

Still daily-driving the Pixel 4xl. Honestly, the battery should have been better but it's a 1 day phone so I won't say it's terrible or something. Cameras are just too damn good with photos. I prefer them to iphone 12 shots 9/10 times. Have faced no software bugs yet and I'd say it's really been a near-perfect experience using this phone for almost 2 years now.

Unpopular opinion: I think the telephoto lens is better. I've NEVER said "oh I wish I could capture more." I've always needed to be closer. Maybe that's just me
I'm the opposite. Obviously I'd prefer to have both, but the ultrawide is the more useful lens for me. A 2X telephoto isn't significant enough to capture faraway objects, and it's very hard to capture an entire room or a large structure without an ultrawide.
I’m actually still using a Pixel 2 XL. Works perfectly fine but battery just not so good performance is fine. Still debating going back to apple or stick with pixel.
Using the 4XL in 2022 and it's great...you reviewers (well not you) are the reason people waste so much money on tech they don't need. SPEC FLEX is a sickness...those who can avoid it will save hella $$$
The only down for me would be battery because the camera, I just discovered that I hate ultrawide photos 😫 and I found myself using zoom camera a lot more, so I think that telephoto would be great for me. I hope they find out some way to remove the huge forehead and work on this sensor for face unlock, it's a great tech to just throw to trash
I wish all the phones can be polycarbonate. I love my Pixel 3A, $a and 5. I have bought Pixel 6 glass phones not used to anymore. Glass heat up like a cooker on Pixel 6. These phones sometimes when I work upstairs in my office and forgot phone downstairs my wife can throw on stairs so I can pick it up lol you cant do that on any other flagship loll
I can agree about the battery. Still holding onto my regular white P4 while waiting to get a Pixel 6. Though I am glad Google learned something- they took the Soli radar and put it on something that's meant to be more hands free: their 2nd gen Nest Hub. Makes more sense to put it on there.
From the comments, I come to the conclusion of "one should rather buy a pixel 3xl instead of the pixel 4 or if one wants a pixel 4, then the pixel 4xl is the smartest choice"? Got it

I used the pixel 3 for a very long time. The battery was painfully bad to make me stay away from pixels. The standby on android phones just needs bigger batteries. No 2 ways about it.
Thanks for not pretending you're hand was broken when using motion sense. The amount of UA-camrs that incorrectly use motion sense and blame it on the phone is unbelievable.
It's pretty good I just got one for 140$ in terms of a budget phone it easily beats all competitors in that price range on everything ( expect battery life)
Aside from a few features (motion sense, face unlock, design, etc) the Pixel 3 XL is pretty close to the 4. The 3 XL might be a better option for some people at almost $100 refurbished on eBay.
I feel like this is the minority opinion, but I prefer telephoto lens. More often than not, I find that I'm unable to get closer to a subject (esp nature/wildlife) but can always back up for a wider shot
Real talk though, the Pixel 4 XL is the best phone I've ever owned by far. All pixels have been great in the fact that they last way longer than Samsung due to the pure Google software, but my Pixel 2 XL and Nexus 6P both had battery issues and my Pixel 4 XL is still going just fine. I did turn off the gesture thing though. That's completely useless.
So glad to find this review. I just retired my Pixel 2 after a great 3 years of use, and picked up a 4XL at Costco for $450 USD. I'm very happy with the update! Your points are well laid out, and accurate. Thankfully, I really don't have the desire for 90hz or the MotionSense, and battery life is wonderful with those deactivated. I do keep the Always On Display... always on... might mess with that next. The camera setup is a huge win for my wants. I'm an aircraft mechanic, and I love taking photos of aircraft as they fly and take off. The Pixel 2, and the wide angle camera on the 4, have about as good a resolution as my eyes so the 2x zoomed camera has a noticable improvement in detail. (Although I'm a tad bummed about such a high MP sensor because it will come at the cost of low light ability.)
