  • Thyssen-Krupp wants to revolutionize elevators using magnetic levitation - with a cable-less cabin that can also go sideways. The company is conducting tests on a monumental scale in Rottweil on the edge of Germany’s Black Forest.

I've had this recurring dream for years now where I take an elevator from a sort of elevator center (which is a modified bus station from real life that's nearby), and travel to my old student flat outside of town. It's a strange thing to experience over and over again. I had to google it now to see if such things exist :D

I can’t believe it. My dreams are coming true. The elevator that I dreamed about that not going up and down, but sideways and that stops at every rooms rather than floors. And you can unlock it with a special key to enter your private residence.

I was recently doing work on a Mitsubishi elevator from japan. They actually used a sharpie marker to write on the motor unit, “made in japan” “Mitsubishi “ and the model number. The Germans would never be so sloppy. Japanese engineering is grossly overrated.

Reading the title: "Whoa, what happen if the electricity's down?"
Mid of the video: "Yep, build a tower to test a single elevator system. Don't forget to charge visitors. The revenue scheme is out there, but thanks God it's not outlandish."
End of the video: "Now I'm both intrigued (about who will benefit the most) and enthusiastic (two years will come soon enough)."
