Any turrets on or near the front of the ship are a no-go, they'll be blasted off at the start of the fight, doing no damage and increasing the repair cost significantly. Your first targettable device from the front of the ship needs to be buried in the nose or people will reject the design due to the repair costs, I did the same thing in my 1st iteration of the Sabaton, I had a nose mounted turret that was meant to be a decoy, but after just a few fights i realized having to replace that turret every fight was a huge design flaw. Bury a turret in the nose. Bury a gen and a thruster and a manual weapon as well, or they'll blow the manuals / turrets off the back of your ship, drawing fire where you don't want it. You've used nearly 1000 armor blocks already, which is about how many you can use maximum and still have decent mobility, that's because you are shaping with armor blocks, shape with carbon, and only use armor deliberately. You have 2 Kilotons of armor on it already, but you have almost Zero functional armor, hardened steel is pretty much aluminum foil vs. disruptors. Get your decoys in place and focus on armoring that section, first you give them something to fire at, then you armor that section very deliberately, with a majority of it being frontal armor, 1-2 layers on side/top is fine. Behind your decoy section, start arranging your components, shield parts first ( from the front ), generators further back, so you can use the armor surrounding 'less essential' components as extra frontal armor for the more essential components ( generator, shield, cpu ) Because disruptors 'dig' through just a 1 block area, your decoys should be on different armor lines, top to bottom, and side to side, so that after a decoy is dug out, the disruptors then need to start all over again from the front on a new armor line, in this way you get the equivalent of 40+ armor thickness, on 4 seperate decoy lines, while needing only 10 layers in front of each decoy. To get the Blast proofing between the components in, the component wraps, and the nose-armor in, youll probably use 600-700 armor blocks. for a Core7 you'd want to stay around 1000 blocks at 2 tons per block ( xeno or hardened, with select use of combat steel where it matters ), for a core 9 you'll probably want to limit yourself to about 1500 blocks at 2 tons per block, fyi. I think those 2 lateral advanced thrusters in the nose may be a no-go, as well, good chance they are destroyed. Other than that, I think the cockpit height is great, it has a commanding view over the nose of the ship, which is ideal for manual weapon use. Now you need to figure out where to put a LOT of VERY BIG manual weapons, close to eye level w/ 1st person view, but without drawing fire toward your cockpit, that will be a challenge w/ the current shape.
Thank you very much for the information! I am going thru it and a lot of great advice. I may convert the current blocks to carbon and then do as you said adding in armor blocks. Also I will lose the front turret and plan on buried decoys on different armor lines. I am a little iffy on the front strafing thruster location. I wanted to put them near the front for flight specs but it may not be very safe. And thank you again!
You're not gonna do the anvil challenge this month then? Because the brief changed from legacy cv to dropship cv, and i don't know if you can finish this in time because the deadline is this weekend lol i'm just finished shaping mine but gotta texture it still. It's size class 10 without lights to give you an idea on size 😅
I think I will skip the month. I have no time left to build a proper drop ship as I got carried away with a space station instead. I never really worked out what I wanted to do for a dropship or what purpose it would have at least in my current playthru. I been basically using the Makar as a dropship. Someday I do plan on a new version of the Gigacore thou. I just haven't worked out how it would be yet. And thanks again!
If you hit the N key on the keyboard, it will bring up a menu with a bunch of options including symmetry. After you select what symmetry you want (can do 3 axis at once) you then look at a block on your creation and mouse click on it. I forget if it is right or left mouse button. You should then see the divider symmetry line or lines depending how it is set up. You can also hit the N key again and change your position and hit N again to set the symmetry. I hope that helps but if not, I will try to show it in the next build video. And thanks again!

Have you fought the new versions of the legacy?
@@RtBuccos Yup. It's on my channel.
@@jeffrandall2813 Everything u don't want hit, that is exposed, is better served in the back
Watching your method is what I have been waiting for. Bravo.
Oh yea let’s go combat cv

@@jeffrandall2813 oh gigacore refit, interesting 🧐 Will you watch the challenge then to see others' builds? 🤔
Could you put an sv pad for a selvager on the back?
Yes, I think it would fit nicely in back between the thruster housings. I will plan on it. And thanks again!
Question new to building in empyrion how do you the symmetry? I mostly do the place one by one.
