Like 50 million others, I bought the 0562, while lusting for a hinderer (XM-24 Please). Bought the CF version so I could swap scales around and I simply couldn't be happier. So happy in fact, that if I miss the mad dash for the next round of Hinderers, I'll be ok.
The ZT is the better knife. I absolutely hate my 2 xm18s but I can’t bring myself to dump them onto someone else so I’m stuck with them both 😢. Thanks for the review.
I am not a knife expert , I have a hand full of carry knives & 5-6 good kitchen knives . I have cleaned lots of deer for me & others & cut up 10,000 chickens +/- , I have worked in a few restaurants & know how to use one . Most of mine are not crazy high priced .
I have boths knives. At leat for me, ZT is cheaper... its a important feature... but, XM-18 is made with better material...best project and more robust...
I have both in slicer. The grind on the ZT is a taller flat grind. It will slice better. Ergonomics are better on ZT. Smart choice: ZT. Expensive and better looking, paying for the brand: Hinderer. Imo.
Late to the conversation but, I just ordered the 0562Ti but I hate deep carry pocket clips. I usually only glance at deep carry knives unless I'm convinced I can throw that silly fad clip right out the effin window. I think I'm going to like the 562 but first order of business is to drill and thread the scales to accept a regular non-deep Hinderer clip (see the XM18), or any clip I want I guess, since I'm going to drill and thread the handles. With that, the 562 should be spot on.
The fact is, you could make the exact same knife, but if one is mass produced and the other involves manual labour, the latter will automatically be more expensive. Throw in a brand name and limited numbers, the price skyrockets. So even if they were the exact same knife, the XM18 would be double the price. Obviously they are different, but I'm just saying. Hinderer is a brand, not just a knife. If you just like the design and want this specific style of knife, you'd be a fool to pay double the price for the Hinderer. But if you're a knife collector with a blade obsession, you won't be able to settle for a copy of the genuine article.
I have a zt 562. I checked out a hinderer at my knife store and action, ergonomics better on zt, plus flipper tab hurt finger. Also SAME BASIC BLADE MATL AND SHAPE, so I’m paying more for handle? Sorry but I’m not paying for name, doesn’t make sense. A fool and his money are soon parted.
Yeah, Teflon washers in a 500 dollar knife!?😳 200 bucks for ONE titanium scale?! 😳(don’t look up the price of titanium!). Useless Finger choil in place of, what could be useful cutting edge!(im aware there are 75 versions of this knife). Recently the Rockwell test showed the temper, to be below par, and did not match the listed specifications? (It happens occasionally?) For me,(30 year user/collector of knives) The Hinderer has long been outdated. The quality and materials have caught up with these old school “high end” folders. Make no mistake about it, it’s a fact that you are now, 100% paying a ultimate premium, for the name alone! In no way whatsoever, does this knife(or brand) justify the absurd price point. 5-20 years ago? Sure, maybe. However, if you’re aware of all that, and you still love it? By all means, indulge! Just keep in mind, that most of the custom detail on the Hinderer, can also be done to the ZT, in the after market. Disclaimer: I mostly agree with this review 👍🏼

Both are fantastic knives. I have one Hinderer and its the XM18 3.5...its a beast. I may add the ZT soon...just because, when funds are available.
