Jeju is Korea's largest island and is a popular vacation spot and honeymoon destination for Koreans and Chinese. The island is crowded with tourists all-year round; 15 million visit each year an island of 600,000 and Seoul-Jeju is the most-used flight route in the world. The island offers visitors a wide range of activities including hiking on Halla-san (South Korea's highest peak), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, horse riding, visiting the sets of Korean television drama or just lying around on the sandy beaches. Geographically it lies southwest of Jeollanam-do Province of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. In 2006, it was granted self-government as South Korea's only Special Autonomous Province. Jeju has its own English language magazine created by foreign residents on the island - Jeju Life.
South Korean nationals were not allowed to travel internationally without government permission until the late 1980s and, therefore, Jeju island was heavily developed as a domestic vacation destination. It has also been traditional for Koreans to spend their honeymoon there (look out for couples wearing the same clothes). The island also happens to be South Korea's main location for unusual theme parks and niche commercial attractions with eccentric museums for sex, glass and teddy bears.
The name Jeju means “a huge village across the sea”, reflecting its location from Korean mainland among southern Korean tip, notably Mokpo, Kyusu of Japan and southern China. Its original and beloved nickname is Tamna (탐라) with a meaning of “island nation”, which supposedly lasted till its complete seizure in 12th century. Consisting of 8 inhabited islands and 82 uninhabited islands (as of 2010), Jeju has a sub-tropical to temperate climate, inarguably top tourist destinations in South Korea, attracting more than 8 million tourists worldwide every year. 제주에 빠지다.
제주항에 가면, 관광객들이 대부분 터미널에서 시간때우기를 많이 하는 것 같다.
바로 옆에서 위와 같은 수평선을 5분도 안되는 거리에서 감상이 가능한데.
위의 영상은 카메라를 축소, 확대 시키지 않고 수평선을 촬영한 것이다.
우연히 지나가는 갈매기와 점점 사라지는 유람선까지..
제주항 국제여객터미널 옆을 보면 다리 하나가 있다.
보통 2시부터 여는 편의점과 강태공이 많이 보이는 다리..
그리고, 똥? 모양의 하늘위로 치솟은 공간!!
바로 그 공간이 과거에 관광객이 많이 찾고, 수평선과 사진을 많이 찍은 곳이다.
코로나 19와 세월호 사태, 그리고 유지보수가 제대로 되지 않아서 낡아버린 형태로 인하여
많이 찾지 않는 곳이지만.
낮이나 저녁에 가끔 바다가 보고 싶으면 7부두 제주 국제여객터미널에 많이 간다.
갈때마다
1. 그냥 계단에 앉아서 하릴없이 음료수와 담배피거나, 멍때리는 관광객들
2. 제주도에서의 마지막을 아쉬워하는 분들
3. 그리고 터미널에서 돌아다니는 아이들과 관광객들
그래서 추천한다.
터미널에서 보이는 다리...건널수 있다.
철조망 비슷한 검색대와 보이지도 않는 안내 및 주의문 때문에..대부분의 관광객이 터미널에서만 죽치고
앉아서 하릴없이 TV에 나오는 뉴스만 보는데, 1시간이고 ~ 2시간이고
더도말고 30분만 시간내서, 편의점에서 간단한 음료를 챙기고
위에서 수평선과 더불어 반대쪽 한라산 그리고 탑동 빛의 거리도 보았으면 좋겠다.
그러면, 시간도 잘가고, 건축물 시내에서 30분 ~ 1시간 때우지도 않고
그리고, 마지막으로 수평선과 한라산을 배경으로 사진도 찍을 수 있고.
그렇기에, 다리를 건너서 제주도에서의 마지막 30분 ~ 1시간 사진으로
추억 하나 남기기를 강력히 추천한다.
